  • GANDALF!

  • This song was one of my brother's favorites, my best friend, Patrick. R.I.P. Bro.

  • This brings back memories of repeatedly listening to the ELOI and ELOII double CD I bought many years ago. Thank you so much for uploading this, I never saw this before now.

  • i love this song...reminds of spending time with my best friends, and drinking beer:-))

  • Thank you Roy and Jeff for 40+ years of great sounds, Daveyone Familylawman!

  • ELO at their very best. I witnessed Roy Wood live in concert only last week, 40 years after this video was made and the man and his music is still giving so much pleasure to thousands. He's a legend.

  • sod the PLO iam with ELO!!!!

  • hell yeah !!

totaly live and raw and un cut ELO love it from a brain washed ELO fan and human bomb for jeff lyne.

  • Another Yeti sighting!

  • roy wood insuperable que liricas asombroso el alma de electric light orchestra

  • quick! pass me the bong !!!

  • At the start I thought it was Jeff in the gigantic white beard and I thought Christ! he does not age well! look at the rest of his band! and then I remembered that he is bald now and I went.....ooooohh ROOY!

  • The many faces of Roy, he looks like a garden knome in this one. Its one of my fave tracks from that period, what a voice just grand, great tune love em cellos too, this is heaven to listen to and watch.

  • WoW--This made my night..f..cking rare !

  • Awesome.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • The best

  • Well. I was a major ELO fan in the day but didn't know there was any overlap between the R Wood ELO and ELO2 besides Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan. A stupendous vid and a great tune. Thanks!

  • a classic that should be heard by the masses not just the few. i have always loved this song, thanks for putting this up

  • It's got a beautiful hymnlike quality. Kiri should give it a bash.

  • hoping we get a an ELO -The Very Early Years DVD set.

Don't those Total Rock Review DVD's usually edit the song after about 40 seconds?

  • r.i.p mike edwards

  • its mad, wood was only 26 when this clip was taken,he looks about 60! lovely song though !

  • I never knew Father Christmas ever sang with ELO!

  • thank you, i'm flattered. : )

  • @dictionar1 Well said. It's amazing the friends you can attract on Youtube! :D

  • I didn't know God played with ELO; more power to him.

  • I wonder what these guys really did wanted to do. This kind of music is dedicated to tha avid fans. The major audience decide which song or album will be succesful in the charts. Were they satisfied in this fact or was this meant to be a beginning to develop more a commercial expression ?

  • I have a few ELO recordings in my library including the band's first albim which entitled Electric Light Orchestra (subtitled "No Answer" in America) on two quadraphonic 8 Track tapes in "cherry" or "mint" condition. One copy was sold with my quadeapjonic sound system and i STILL have the other copy which is STILL has the ORIGINAL factory plast wrap like film still on iy and there's NOT one single rip or tear in the seal.

  • Thanks ELONut for posting this -- I never realized there was any footage of Roy Wood era ELO. I think the first ELO album is an underrated classic.

  • long live the white wizzard!

  • roy wood should have stayed, wizard were a joke

  • @shaftsbury94

You ignorant know nothing knob !!

Look at Wizzard's chart history and retract your words...Wizzard dressed in garish clothes on TOTP, but their musicianship was/is never in doubt..particularly Roy Wood's...the only joke is your comment.

  • @seventiesclassic whats a 'knob'?

  • @dictionar1

    A Dick/Tool/Prick...take your choice.

  • @seventiesclassic i wasbeingclever. but thank you. : )

  • @dictionar1

You weren't being clever, you were being a knob !

  • Awesome! Roy Wood looks so cool! Father time! Anyway 1 of the only times you see Jeff Lynne in the background and not the leader! Its great to revisit this great music and talent. It needs to be revitalized again.

  • amazing track, lynne and roy are both genius.

  • Look..it's Gandalf !!

    Great song though !

  • Where did you get the video clip?

  • from the ELO Total Rock Review DVD

  • Is it worth getting?

  • yes

  • AMAZING CLIP!!! Thank you for posting this!!! As much as I love ELO, it's always sad for me to think of them w/o Woody, I feel like a lot of heart left with him - And Wizzard tanked in the US, total shame.

  • Das war total der Hammer -in all dem Glamrock damals..

  • Soul of human life. Congratulations for Roy, Elo y Jeff Lynne.

    Desde Chile

  • Jeff's just chomping at the bit to speed this up.

Probably one reason they couldn't work together as a differnece in what ELO should be and had to split.

  • Roy Wood is a great pop/ rock- musician

but I have never understood his looks in performing. The same thing in Wizzard days his colourful giantic hair.

Maybe I´m just a little stupid.

  • Roy Wood was incredibly shy, that's why he had to hide behind the make up and stuff, He was so shy that when he started his first band the move he couldn't even sing his own songs and had to get another singer to front the band.

  • Yes, both Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne were and are studio- men. Both very shy in the public. In the summer 1973 Wizzard visited in my homeland Finland. People came to see and hear See My Baby Jive and Angel Fingers live. But in the middle of the first track Roy Wood lost his nerves and soon the whole show was over and they disappeared from the stage. I was then only nine but I have read about it but never got an answer for that.

  • @FinnMove In his early move days his hair was not quite so long and he was clean shaven. Maybe he wanted a hippie or Renaissance or maybe a barbarian look.

  • @FinnMove It is said that he dressed up in different make up, disguises because he was extremely shy and it was his way to "hide" and make it easier to perform live

  • @FinnMove Roy Wood was scared of performing in front of audiences and he used his make up as a shield. I remember this from years ago. BTW. You are not stupid.

  • Roy looks like santa clause dosen't he?

  • Roy Wood wrote this and originally performed this song on ELO's first album so any other version would be just a cover, Now the audio quality is not the best however the performance is right on!

  • Am I right in thinking that the violinist is Steve Woolam (sic?), who sadly committed suicide?

  • No, it's Wilf Gibson

  • @samuelruncorn78

"sadly commited suicide "...is it possible to cheerfully commit suicide?

  • Saw them on first night as Electic Light at Portsmouth Guildhall. Roy finished with this. awesome

  • Thank you, this has always been a favorite song, from WAY back.

  • Good hymn but diferent to the ELO sound

  • Is it just me or did ELO's members all used to have really fascinating hair?

    :D

  • Have u got the rest of the Set of Six concert?

  • I have four of the songs available

  • could u upload them plz?

  • Heavenly! ... Just heavenly. Thank you very much for sharing this video.

  • nice to see him doing something different thanks for sharing it on youtube :D xx

  • I thoroughly approve
