What tabletop/boombox type hybrid digital HD radios have the newest generation HD radio circuitry/chip ?... for example can you get the Sony HD radio with the newest HD radio circuitry/chip ?

Let me ask this stupid question. If we are supposed to have access to HD radio, why don't they add this feature to all new radios?????????? You have to buy a special radio? Acceptability???

As a 3 year "veteran" HD user, I may as well comment on this topic. The AM IBOC is probably too little-too late. AM is headed for preachersand right wing crackpots, with -zero- listeners under 50. D.O.A. It's woth mentioning that the two portables Zune-HD and Insignia have no AM. The FM works quite well and produces better separation, more open highs, eliminates multipath noise. The system will gradually takeoff as it is incorporated into common (and cheaper) receivers.

IBOC: Makes AM sound like FM with fried tweeters and makes FM sound like CDs produced with Optimod squashed sound. Unless the FM has HD2 where FM sounds worse than FM and with HD3 FM sounds like internet radio if all you have is dial-up. This is the fart between analog and Reciva via G3.

They also did not say about the power. It only goes 1% of the analog coverage which maybe at best 15 miles from the tower for a good strong signal.

so basically we all need to buy new HD-radio-able radios. COOL in the midst of a collapsing economy, every consumer and manufacturer is looking to save money. So... dont expect people will rush to buy it nor will they be preinstalled in cars.
