I have always envisioned this piece set to a music video of attendies at Elton's funeral, in which he rises from the casket, sings with back-up dancers, then returns to it, as the coffin jets steaight up to the heavens!
This piece of music is more than incredible. It goes beyond all boundaries that have ever been. It is the best musical score that I have ever heard in my life.
Today is Aids Awareness Day and man, this song surely fits~!! God Bless those that died and are still infected with the most horrible disease I have EVER Seen-I worked non stop out in Hollywood to help-I was here, while the Govt. did NOT HELP US and bagged lunches for folks in need along with Lily Tomlin, Liz Taytol the best She said: @Washington Rally for help) Liz Said:
"There would be no Hollywood without Gay People Help us God Dammit" ~~! Please know we alll love you more than ever!♥Donny
@BlakeTebow1 You are So Right--It's not a gay disease, just that i saw over 30 Friends who were all gay, Die Butt, IT was a gay Pandemic-There is more in Africa than anywhere, and It doesn't go away until we make it happen! Keep the Faith~!
Elton almost always collaborated with a guy named Bernie Taupin- Bernie wrote the lyrics to most of those songs you love so much, while Elton wrote the music on the piano & sang. Check it out online if you don't believe me. Towards, the Eighties, Elton started using other songwriters and changed his sound- for the worse, if you ask me! He also let his original rock band (Nigel Olsson, etc.) go along the way, which contributed to his sound being not as rocking, lol. I'll stick w/the classics!
It seems that there are many, many, many, people that feel as I do about elton john. Yes! He is indeed one of the greatest artists ever! BUT ! Though I do care about "Diana", He should have never RE-MADE Good Bye Norma Jean, for her! It was intended for Marilyn Monroe!!!! And that was what the song was about! Marilyn Monroe! I respect Elton all the same. But come on ~!He is great enough that he could have easily had written another song about Princess Diana! This song is Marilyn Monroe's song!
IIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiLLLLLllllllllloved yer collect on picsThat was fuNThankyoU This song is a breathing_I would love to 'see' the imagery that was coursing in his soul when he was writing this --
By far one of the greatest Classic Rock ballads of all time Sir Elton John one of the greatest rockers of all time Cheeeeeers to you mannnnnnn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every word of my Elton tale is true, myself and my son's memory of it is enough, I don't feel I need any further validation. Who the hell would make up such a tale? As for vinyl being a dead format, apparently you haven't been to a REAL record store in awhile. If you like great music, old or new, chances are you can get it on vinyl. "I was playing rock n' roll and you were just a fan....an' love lies bleeding in my hand...." Do your research, friend.
He makes me laugh, cry, think about life, twice, sometimes, can't help but dance when he's belting out a tune. I grew up with him in my life. Sir Elton John, you'll always have a special place in my heart for all you stand for and your beautiful heart which abounds in love and compassion.
Not sure he could write songs like this or record anything like his earlier stuff, the change happened after Island Girl in 75 from that to "Can you feel the love tonight" to name one, and so forth. But still E.J. the D.J. is the best on those ivory keys!
Con todo agrado y corazon un gran saludo a Elton Jhon, que nos a hecho difrutarde su musica por largos años y aun hoy , muchisimas gracias, Elton y esperamos que estes bien de salud, comunidad latina!!!
This piece performed by Elton is the greatest work on Ivory since, Beethoven or Mozart. It captures melancholy and joy. Seems Billy Joel drew inspiration from this work, as well as a whole slew of other great artists.
On my 25th birthday (oh so long ago) we were celebrating on the first floor of an high rise apartment building in Galveston Texas...when this came on, we cranked it (mind you, it was two in the morning) well, the police showed up and told us that people on the 20th floor were complaining....great memories!
@infinera06 "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"? Pretty bad? Really? I never thought I would live long enough to hear that one. Oh,well....to each our own I guess. Wow.
Always loved this song- one day, something really weird happened when I was playing my vinyl copy, tho. I had it on really loud, my 10-yr old son was with me and rockin' to it. We happened to look out the open window to the street below and there was a hearse on the curb. We watched them take someone's body out of an apt. and load it up as this song played. Then, I swear, the driver looked right up at us and tipped his hat as if to say, "Good choice, man." and drove away. Strange days, indeed...
@Tommygunn77764 That is such an awesome story. I hope I get carried out with this blaring at full volume in the background. I have a feeling even in death my feet will be a tappin'...
Elton John WAS one of the best musicians ever until he started performing his songs differently, rewriting lyrics and ruining his original and spectacular work. This song along with many others from the early to mid 70's were truly awesome pieces of work.
Yea it was and there are many others from the 70's that when he preforms now it just doesnt sound that good at all because I'm used to hearing them the original way like when he sings Tiny Dancer now I don't like it at all and it's one of my favorite songs.
@sydlivy What the heck you people talking about rewriting his lyrics? Im his biggest fan have bought every album he's made several times over the years records cassettes cd's and I never heard him change the lyrics and his concerts are as good now as they were back in the 80's, a little more tame but hes in his 60s
Elton had nudules surgically removed from his vocal cords several years ago and after surgury he was unable to hit the high notes in his songs. Tiny Dancer has some very high notes and he typically has a female singer or two to hit them for him at his concerts.

@italianfl I hate to prove a fellow EJ fan wrong, but you are. I have been a huge EJ fan since GYBR came out (1973) and have seen him in concert 15 times at least, and I can attest to you that he has changed a few lyrics here-and-there in some songs when he sings them live. Tiny Dancer is a prime example: (studio version) How it feels so real, lying here with no one near... (live) oh how it really feels... I know it's just a small change but it's there and can be annoying at times.
@italianfl No, it's proving you wrong. It proves that he has changed some of the lyrics in a few of his songs when in concert. He hasn't sung the studio version of those very same lyrics in decades. I'm not complaining just pointing out one example. Sorry you haven't the capacity to understand when someone backs their claim with evidence as proving you wrong.
well, he not only can't sing in the same registers as he used to, but why WOULDN'T he want to change the songs around? I love hearing live versions done differently. I mean, if you wanna hear the studio version go listen to that, but live versions should be done differently form studio versions...
@sociallyineptguy yes because nobody ever likes change, we all want to hear the same 30 yr old song played exactly the same over and over and over again...It's his music let him play it the way he wants, you don't like it listen to the old stuff.
