I love how the top comment is about how "stupid and noisy" the fans are. You actually expect them to silently stand there so a shitty phone or camera can try to pick up the audio a little bit better??!! that's beyond comical. You'd be doing the same thing as these people if you were there.
@itowedin You lack a lucid point, you seem to base your opinion on what seems to be a personal dislike for Frusciante. At that, it seems you rather look for a distinguishable point between you and everyone else commenting here. If you had your facts straight you'd be knowledgeable enough to get he's simply paying respects to someone who had influenced him. No need to start a pity party for those you believe are "better" or more deserving, as it has no relevance
well i definetly disagree. frusciantes solo work and lyrics are very good. im sure there are lots of good musicians out there that havent been discovered yet but frusciante has lots of talent is one of the only sincere muscians of the day

I wish some of you could understand that it's very convenient for someone like Frusciante, (who shouldn't even be famous based on talent), to gloss himself with a mysterious aura by citing Syd Barrett as an influence. This is so transparent.
@itowedin well then who should be famous based on talent in your opinion? heavy metal shredders have NO talent, its not music, its entertaiment. and johns first solo albums were very influenced by syd's solo albums, not his PF work though
@frusciante319 just read my post again...How many times do you think I've argued this point? Why keep banging my head against the wall. He's doing this to shroud himself with a pseudo enigma by citing Syd Barrett as an influence and paying homage. This is just like the outcast kid wearing black in school to seem dangerous or mysterious. Frusciante is the hack of all hacks. There are thousands of unfounded musicians, not just "shredders" that should be where he is.

Syd Barrett a true legend and amazing music the song "flaming" is like a dream the whole of the piper album ,just amazing theres nothing like it! R.I.P
I think it's ironic that i have an image of JF on my myspace page and underneath this image I have the lyrics to this song. I've had it on my page long before Syd passed... heh.. amazing song sung by an amazing artist!
i don't get Red Hot Chili Peppers... They cover and listen to the best songs... but always seem to fuck them up, and i don't like their original songs... But they have brilliant influences at least... this might just be a john frusciante solo gig which i imagine to be more tolerable .
Yep, this is "Golden Hair." I like it better with Syd's distinct English accent, but this version is pretty faithful to the original. The lyrics aren't his own, as stated above, which is probably why it's imagery is fairly lucid (for Syd Barrett).

What a fantastic tribute to Syd! Golden Hair was written by James Joyce and performed by Syd. I read the poem over and over after Syd died.

"Golden Hair" is actually a James Joyce poem that Syd liked so much that he put music to it. Interesting vid, thanks for posting.
