The power of these stun guns really is exaggerated.

If the attacker is tough and a heavy person, it at the most will knock them down for a couple of seconds at the most and then you will be at the mercy of what ever weapons there carrying since as one would imagine they will not be amused at been shocked :P

There is a huge difference between these and a law enforcement taser.

Imo stun guns are really only good for drunken shocking games and paranoid woman

@mewrox99 When you hold the stun gun to a person for 20-30 seconds, they won't be able to move for a while as it disrupts the central nervous system. One blast will just knock you down. You have to hold it against the attacker for a while for it to work. And the law enforcement TASER® is just 50,000 volts, though it fluctuates. The TASER C2® cycles for a full 30 seconds, and devastates the attacker. Lets video you getting stunned for 30 seconds to see how you do? Do you take the challenge?

@DefendThyself honestly, i've seen people shocked with low voltage stun guns like that, and they said it just tingled. The main reason a police issue 50k volt taser is more effective is the prongs make the current travel further through your body and give a greater effect on the muscles. With a stun gun you have limited distance for the current to travel, and with more voltage you get a much louder and more intimidating arc and better transfer of current through tissue.

In a true stun gun, the high voltage makes your muscles overexert themselves and burn all the blood sugar into lactic acid; that is what knocks you down. Just for fun, I've heard a stun gun hit to the stomach will cause the stomach and intestine muscles to contract, making the attacker poop and pee themselves :D

No Volts is not what makes your muscel overexert. Infact the voltage is used to arc through clothing so it can't be stopped by just wearing thick clothing. The milliamps of current is what does that. Current has the shock effect, not voltage. Infact a vandegraph generator I have is capable of charging its dome 200,000volts but the current in a given discharge is measured in the microamps. you barely feel it when it zaps you. You mostly feel the heat of the arc discharge.

@eltona2323 Good question, it won't go back to you. It will stay in the attacker & 10-20 seconds is the ideal amount of time to stun, as they will get right back up if you only shock for 1 second. Hope that helps.

These are all well and good for self defense, but they get in the hands of criminals just as easy. In the wrong hands, these can be fatal and you know that a criminal will not use it safely.

I'm against stun guns, they are far too widely avaliable, making them very accessable to criminals themselves. It's like trying to treat fire with fire. I'm against even the police having them, as it's been shown that they can't use them reasonabily. I'd rather get shot in the leg with a gun.

@hyflyer6 yeah, you think you never need one, then you get attacked. A pepper spray is used first, when they are 10-15 feet away. Then when they are in pain, blast them with the stun gun. A TASER is 50,000 volts, so anything over 100,000k works great. Just hold it for 10-20 seconds so they wont move.

@AlexExodia Agreed the TASER is the best choice, though are you willing to pay $300 plus for a C2, or more for the M26? A $25-50 stun gun will also work, just not as quickly. Late 80's I was in a performance to stun a friend until he told me to stop. With a wimpy stun gun, he never did tell me to stop and could not move after that for 15+ minutes. Stun guns do work, just like pepper spray does and you need the 1-2 punch they provide, so yeah, I know how this stuff works; it ain't rocket science.

Nice looking gun. I saw another gun advertised at a different site. Its specs were listed as putting out 5.6 million volts and 250 milliamps. I am sceptical about the 250 Milliamps because I have always read that 30 mA and above can be lethal. It is the first gun I have seen with such a high voltage. 5.6 million volt would be very effective in most cases, WOW!

Yes, it only reaches (at max) 50,000 volts. Once it creates a circuit, the voltage drops because it simply isn't needed. TASERs work by using neuro-muscular incapacitation, which interferes with the brain's signals to the muscles, which locks up the muscles and incapacitates the target. A regular stun gun doesn't do much other than cause pain. A stun gun may be enough to scare off some two-bit punk, but a TASER is better for effective defense.

I know here in the People Republic of California you would have a hard time convincing the police that the guy 20 FEET AWAY FROM YOU WAS A CLEAR AND IMMEDIATE THREAT. Good question, I have people tell me they used them for years to scare dogs, yet the manufacturer says to not do it frequently or it will die. You are pumping the electricity back in to the unit, so eventually it will take it's toll...
