Does it make a major difference to the sound? i dont wanna invest in something and it not really being of much significance. Ive heard someone record themselves with and without a reflection filter and there was really no audibe difference.. although it could have been a really low quality one, Would you do a demonstration video what its like sound with one and without one?
I just got one yesterday...I don't like the clamp though. I also took your advice and put it on a good cymbal stand but it leans down like nobody's business. The clamp is different from yours so I'm wondering if they're replacing it with a different one nowadays.
Not sure where you are these days, but I do have an odd question. How do you handle the problem with lyrics and still using the mic/filter? Of course, the logical thing would be to just memorize the lyrics, but that makes entirely too much sense. LOL...
i dont mean to point out the obvious but one of these filters costs in uk £229 , you could have bought 6 x 3ft corner bass traps and 28 - 15" x 15" 100mm thick wedge tiles off ebay delivered for less than £250 , ive no doubt it will sound good though using your filter, i would still stick some acoustic tiles on a wall that you will have youre back to when tracking that way you wont have reflections coming from your rear into the mic , thanks for the vid i may invest in one
@InsanityKingdom The round black thing in front of the mic is called a "Pop Filter". You can get the pop filter and the reflexion filter at any music store. You can also buy them on Amazon
@Gr33nsPoint56 YES you would still need your shock mount for accurate recording. If you DON'T, the direct transfer of vibrations from your MIC will travel down your Mic Stand to the floor and the vibrations will interfere your sound. That's why they have shock Mounts to break up this connection.
The reflection filter does nothing for that. It only stops the reflections/echos from coming back into the Mic (rather well IMO) but that is a different function than what a shock Mount does.
man, you hade the same thing man, in 2008 man, but it was Portable Vocal Booth man, so why the heck have you got another one man, if you had Portable Vocal Booth and you said it was cool man?...
The cymbal stand is good ideal. There's actually two layers of the dense wool stuff. The flat panels you see and a lining to the metal mesh. My main gripe on mine is size, it's really not that big. And that's the large version. You need a side address mic, or it's useless. And not even big enough for a stereo pair. I got mine on CL too, $140.
@pawndominance1 Thats possible. But a stand of some sort with a wide base is better. Remember you dont want your stand to topple over and destroy your microphone or something.
@bluelitestudio , I caught a nice little deal on Ebay for a reflection filter. It wasn't THIS brand but something very similiar for $89 bucks BUT what I was very happy about was that it had a case for the reflection filter and came with a stand. But this wasn't just a regular Mic Stand. It was a BEEFED up stand especially for this Filter and was super strong and sturdy. So I don't have the issues like yours with it leaning over and I have a shockmount/pop guard/headphone holder on it too.
ALSO...Nice little set-up you have Bluelitestudio. You look like you have it set-up pretty good and nice equipment too. So this is in your living room apartment? Does your neighbors ever complain when you're laying down some tracks, LOL. Also make sure you have renter's insurance. had a friend of mine who had a studio at his apt and was broken in and didn't have insurance and lost everything. Probably over $25 thousand easy @ retail. Good Luck :)
hey man much respect on the video...but i was woundering my closet is very eckoy and i cant sound proof it because it has a sliding door ...could the ecko of the closet bounce back in threw the mic again somehow? or is like litterly that good?
@RapperNamedQUICK putting this unit in a closet that has echo is not a good move. Remember the filter is still open in the rear and any reflections coming off the walls behind you are likelly to get picked up in the microphone. You could try to put up some sort of sound proof blanket up behind you if u use it in a tight space like that.
$100!!! You seriously lucked out on that...congrats! I paid $169 for the slightly smaller unit...and I agree, the only negative in the mounting. I am used to working with a boom...and it is NOT going to happen with this. LOL Mounting it is also a mystery...no instructions. I have an Audio-Technica AT-4040 and it works well with it. My Blue Baby Bottle is kind of tough to mount on it though. Thanks for the up on this. Nice rig, like your KRKs, although I use Mackies.
Bro good looks on the review! But could you plz let me know what's the exact name of your stand & where u got it? I'm also having a big problem with the heaviness of the ref. filter too. Thanks dude I would truly appreciate ur answer.
@rulqnk what up bro. Glad you likeda review. I grabbed the stand from Guitar Center. It was 50 bucks and it was a Yamaha Double-Braced Lightweight Straight Cymbal Stand .
@jussyb93 Actually if you get the mini one and then use it inside your closet you might actually get a better sound than you would with the bigger one out in an open floor.
This thing ownz, Because of the wool and aliminium thats on it, because the sound won't bounce against your sealing(the cap absorbs it) it works. The weight I agree on it's really heavy for your regular stands.
Hi that really depends on how you set up your enteir room, its all about acoustics. It works like a charm. If you want to get the max output out of it you should like record behind a curtain or smth because the sound cant go up it will go back, so something like wool will break it from going anywhere.
Id advise you to make sure you record it in a square enviroment to get the max output of recording.
I heard a lot of good things about these. Been thinking about this for a long time, but the prices in the UK are about the same in GBP as US$. Like you, I keep looking out for a 2nd hand one.
