  • the band who originally made this song a is called the guess who. but i definitly like the spin on this version;)

  • Wow, calm down folks. Junior will never ever need defending. That said, others who copy are sometimes good too. My favorite, Road Runner, by Junior is covered by this White dude named Chris Rae(?). That's a good cover that this soul sister can groove to as well.

  • I had this on 8 track, and I loved it.

  • I prefer this to Guess Who's ,pretty much sick of anything Guess Who after all these years

  • a brilliant cover of the guess who hit. i liked both of their versions

  • THESE EYES ARE WATCHING YOU :) GREAT SING

  • Hi I am 54 years of age and black.I enjoy most tunes from the 50s,60s, and 70s, I am not ashame to say that I like both versions. If I was to say which one I enjoy the most, for me it will be the Guess Who version. Now with the said both are very good.

  • @99Onlyaman Totally agree

  • sorry but this can't compare to Guess Who version

  • This is sooo grand. Walker had it like no one else. I do not like the Guess Who Version. Walker's soulful voice and kick butt sax is IT. Much gratitude to you for posting. Excellent taste.

  • Thanks for posting. Been looking for this one for a while. Is this a Norman Whitfield written song.

  • @Naterussell Norman didn't write this, it was originally done by The Guess Who, and it was produced by Johnny Bristol

  • @MotownMaster THANK YOU!!

  • Thanks for posting. Been looking for this one for a while.

  • SHUT UP! ... PLAY THE SONG

  • @nellyboyles FUCK YOU AND WATCH SOMEONE ELSE'S VIDS ASSCLOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nellyboyles THANK YOU!

  • Thanks for posting, I have Jr Walker performing this live on Soul Train, but I can't get it to upload!!

  • Thanks MotownMaster for posting this song. I think that the " trivia" ( ?) / " history(/), that you providie is awesome. I'm working on a masters in African- American Music History , hoping to become an African- American Music Historian . Are you a Historian ? I'd really like to "talk" Music with you. Keep up the good work.

  • @MusicLady854 MotownMaster I'm still waiting to hear from you.... ?

  • @Headrush13 & MotownMaster. Quit hating over an awesome song. Both versions have their merits, but Jr.'s sax tskes the cake!

  • these eyez are crying these eyez have seen a lotta luv but they never gonna see another one like i had wit u

  • There is nothing wrong being so into Junior Walker, he's amazing!! Keep up the good sounds!

  • The 45 single I had was just as worn out as yours when I was a kid. Bring back so many memories.

  • good version but i been listening to the guess who version since i was two so that will always be my favorite

  • better than the guess who and im from the city the guess who are from

  • Two sides of the coin.

  • while Junior Walkers sax adds a whole different dimension and depth to this song his vocals are all over the shop . It probably also depends on which version you heard first.. both versions are real belters. Here we are 40 years after the song was recorded having a good old debate about a song that neither the GW or Jnr had great chart success with. It is so good that others remember this. On the charts over here in Australia, I think it peaked at no 36.

  • Great song no matter what. Good material can be done hundreds, thousands of different ways as jazz musicians are proving all the time. Go ahead and enjoy the version you enjoy the most but it doesn't lessen the work of other artists. Covers of songs bring the songwriters royalties so cover them, just put yourself into them so they don't sound like pathetic tribute bands. Look at what Bettye Levette did with the british hits - that album smokes! Thanks for the posting MotownMaster.

  • @Headrush13 Get over it, Both versions are really great

  • @MotownMaster

I wont get over ignorance. Credit where credit is due sir.

  • @Headrush13 LOOOOL........your kinda mean when you say that......but even I knew that

  • One of my favorite LP's ever!

  • I have this album and this version of 'These Eyes' is fantastic! Anything Jr. Walker did was great!

  • Junior Walker and The Funks "one upped" them on this version..EPIC..

  • I like the original version MUCH better. This one is noise

  • love this old school music. maybe its because im old school. they just don't make music like this any more. what a shame.

  • i always loved this song the motown soulful twist to it just makes me like it even more

  • Alton Ellis?

  • simply wonderfull!!!!

  • looooove this song!!!

  • this is one of my fave junior walker tracks. Thanks for posting

  • I own both 45's this & the original by the Guess Who. Even though I love this version the Guess Who's version is much better & was written by band members Burton Cummings & Randy Bachman, but JR can really blow.

  • Another one of my Jr Walker's favorite's thank you so much for this oppty..

  • not sure who did this originally....are you kiddin me,only one of the best voices in rock history in Burton Cummings, only one of the best song writing duos ever in Randy Bachman and Burton cummings, also one of the best bands of the era in the GUESS WHO.

  • "THAT'S JUNIOR"...THIS IS THE TUNE!

  • You are correct, What Does It Take did come out in the spring of 1969. I loved the song. I was getting ready to ship out to Vietnam. My error on the Gotta Hold On To This Feeling, you stated Jan 1970 release, I agree with you now. In Jan. 1970 I was in Nam, didn't get a chance to hear any music, except AFVN radio. Thank you for the tunes.

  • thank you sir for your service i have the up most respect for any man who served in the nam god bless you friend i cant imagine all the things you have gone through

  • The Best ! Thankyou Junior Walker.

  • Thank you for sharing this awesome memory. My mother has since past, but it reminds me so much of her. It reminds me of how beautiful she was and how much she struggled to raise six children alone. RIP, Mother.

  • One of my all time favorite L.P's

  • this is a great version and who doesnt agree, well let it be be . thank you for preserving a great classic.

  • Talk is not good

  • Too fuckin' Bad if you dont like it dont watch my vids

  • All I was saying is that anyone who wanted to see your video knows music ,Quit assuming everyone is stupid! NUMBNUTS

  • @MotownMaster love the history!

  • El saxo se sale, el tema se lo merece.

Muy bueno tambien el original de Guess Who.

  • shut yer yap and play the music.

  • less talk my man... really annoying having to listen to you each time i play this.

cheers though, i know that sounds like i'm being ungrateful.

    x

  • Yes you are being ungrateful, it's 10 seconds of talking whats the big deal, watch videos somewhere else then

  • learn to count. its 40 seconds not 10.

great Walker tune btw, thx for posting

  • i agree 100%

  • I've never heard this version prior to today, and I have to say that I don't like it nearly as much as the Guess Who original. This one is over embellished. I might not be so opposed to it if I'd heard it first, though.

  • Not as good as The Guess Who original.

  • I like his version and the way he plays the saxphone is sweet.

  • that sax is killer in the beginning

  • The Sax gives it so much emotion.

  • "These Eyes" coverby Jr Walker & All Stars, is the best version. 1969 was the start of the wickedest "Tracks" by Black Recording Artist

  • This is the best version of this song!

  • Damn, I ain't heard this since - shoot, about 1998!

  • This is one of the best albums ever!!

  • That band that he couldn't remember was "Guess Who." a Canadian band and they did a helluva better job.

  • I love Jr. Walker, he is great. "Shotgun" is the best. I don't know why you think this version of "These Eyes" is "MUCH" better than the original one though????? This one is good, but a little more laid back. Listen to the original one again, it's a little more polished. Walker has a good voice though. He must have seen something great in the original version if he decided to cover it. The original is AMAZING. This one's good

  • screwed it up

  • No, they didn't.

  • Jr. Walker was "smooth and soulful" long before he recorded "These Eyes."

  • i love it..Love iT..LOVE iT..!!!,..i remember growing up to this music, i loved it then as much as i still love it now...i can listen to this all day/all night and still never get tired of hearing it,..many many thanks..pls keep post'n all this great music..lotsa love !!!

  • AGREED THEMOJOMANdotCOM

  • i like this version too, the guess who also.

  • nice

  • i have this 45! i have an old recorder player w/ an 8-track player! talk bout retro

  • Love, love, LOVE the Andantes' background vocal work!

  • Yeah ya' right!

  • The group that did this song originally was The Guess Who.

  • Best version is by Blood Sweat and Tears - Better Brass

  • The Guess Who.

  • This version is the best! No one can beat that sax. Thanks for posting.

  • i prefer jnr.walker

  • Your 45 is in great condition! I'm impressed! Thanks for the music...brings back greta memeories. :)

  • THATS WHAT YOU THINK!

  • just stfu and play the good music. btw theres only 1 motownmaster and thats me!

  • ohhh lawd,I love this. I was a kid when this was a hit.

  • This is the only version that matters! Jnr Walker was TOP!!

Great Cool sound I used to go to a lot of cool soul clubs in the uk in the sixties jnr Walker was a favourite!!

Thanks for posting not heard this for many moons.......

  • JrWalker was a sax playing fool:) With the exception of KING CURTIS nobody had his power at that time.....

  • Yea, I'd agree The Guess Who's version of this is better.

  • to be honest, i prefer the guess who version, but jr's version is pretty damned great too

  • I grew up to this version. Guess who version was good but i have to go with Jr. Sweet!

  • This version does not compare to the greatness of the original by the Guess Who.

  • That's right, it was the Guess Who from Canada!

  • MotownMaster, I have the same exact copy on a 45 of "These Eyes". I like the Jr. Walker's version better than the original by the Guess Who.

  • I have the other version of this LP

  • ah thats right, there version is good too

  • The name of the band was The Guess Who that orginally recorded it.
