Ok this is after watching. I think you've got beauty mixed up with personal taste. For instance, a guy might prefer blondes over brunettes. There might be a brunette who he knows is really beautiful, but isn't much into her looks simply because he personally prefers blondes. Beauty is beauty, and it's pretty much set in stone:Health is beauty. If you're healthy and you have healthy genes, then you are beautiful. It's a survival mechanism. It's personal taste that makes it seem subjective.
Ok this is before watching the video, but I'd like to define beauty for you. It's an outer sign of healthy genes. that's it. back in the stone ages, they chose their mates base d on how likely they were to produce strong offspring, and they could tell their mates would produce strong offspring by how beautiful they were. Slender, curvy woman are beautiful because if they're slender they have a good metabolism, but if they're curvy they're not starving, for instance.
I think Beauty is the confidence to shine past your looks and getting people to see whats inside. yess, i stare at models in magazine's and think, WOW, she is gorgeous. but now i have come to terms that beauty on the inside is a million times as precious as beauty on the outside. ♥

In my eyes beauty isn't always a physical thing; someone is beautiful by the way they act and see themselves aswell as other people. The most beautiful thing anyone can possess is the skill to see beauty in everyone, even when they don't see it themselves. But I must say Chyaz; you're gorgeous :3
Someone'e interpretation of a person being beautiful could be influenced by their style, cultural traditions, age, images around them, tastes and preferences. Which is why EVERYONE are considered beautiful one way or another. The 'Hollywood' image is not the only figure of beauty, and every human being is created unique. If that isn't a sign of beauty, I don't know what is.
To me, beauty is one word for many many positive aspects on a person. One influences the other, it is like the word nice or strong. They include strategies, behaviouristic aspects. And what it makes totally subjektiv to me is that everybody has a different defintion of for example a good strategie.
Beauty does not = all of your self worth. I think women get judged primarily by their looks, as if that's all we can offer. Sure, Jessica Alba is beautiful, and she's probably a lovely person - but it's important to not put SO. MUCH. weight on beauty. If someone isn't my idea of beautiful/I'm not attracted to them, it doesn't mean they are worthless; and it shouldn't mean that for women either. My idea of beauty is based on the physical, but I don't hold it in greater esteem than other qualities
@ohthesovietkitsch Like, so what if you're not beautiful? Why do women -have- to be beautiful, and why must we use that word to describe our personalities? Why not just say, this woman is considerate, she's intelligent/witty/sarcastic/thoughtful/optimistic/strategic? I don't really get why these qualities *need* to be tied up with "beauty", as it kind of still reinforces the idea of beauty = most-important-thing-for-a-woman-to-be-or-else.
and thank you so much for posting this video! It really makes me feel better and it returns to my mind to take a step back because I think sometimes it's easy to think so much about the outside of yourself so that you forget the essential, which is to my mind the inside. If everybody would think like you do about beauty I think the world would really be a better place because many people judge other's by the outside and I really dislike prejudices.

This is one of the things why I think you are such a great person. I watched your video "What is ugly?" about a year ago and it really got me thinking about these questions "What is ugly and beauty?" and it really changed me in a way. I think beauty is to be a beautiful person inside and to have a beautiful character. I think if you look absolutely beautiful outside but you have a horrible character, how can you love yourself? just yesterday I was complaining about my looks, it was one of these days where I cannot stand my reflection saying "omg I'm so ugly why would anyone ever look at me?!" I didn't know Katie Piper and googled her. I feel ashamed now really. Omg Katie piper is so beautiful :) I used to think beauty was being tall thin blonde, I had an eating disorder cos of it I tried to be as thin as the models on the catwalk, I'm 5 foot 6 inch and a uk size 10 goth I think within society now a size 10 is slim as the uk average is around a 16. This just made my day. I never ever used to wear make-up, and I only started wearing it when all my cousins and girls in high school were wearing it. One of my cousins said to me at a wedding "You're not wearing any make-up?? Why?" And I started feeling conscious about the way I looked. It's only in the past year that I've started watching beauty videos on youtube. But I've learnt to not care what others say to me and just not wear much make-up.
I get bullied a LOT but I ignore it all, I don't think I am stunning etc but I live my life and I am 100% comfortable with who I am and how I look, I love my life with my two most amazing sons and I guess I always shine because I am so happy but I know some people could see me as big headed etc but I am 100% not! My friend and I friend were talking about this guy. He is so beautiful (on the outside - but the inside?) He has been calling my friend (Mark - obviously a guy) ugly, for quite a while. I tell him every day that he is beautiful to me, he does not listen. So I told Mark that i thought that the guy was ugly, for calling him ugly. Beauty for me..um it's kinda hard to explain. A beautiful person for me is my mum. She is the most beautiful human in the whole world, it's not that she's my mum, I know her REALLY good. She's smart,brave,good,nice,polite,pretty,full of love,care and she helps a lot to anybody! I just simply love her..She is always here for me. For me beauty isn't directly linked to what a person looks like on the outside,but to the character of a person..Sure I find medium sized girls with pale skin,green/blue eyes,long healthy hair and a cutesy,round,porcelain doll like face really gorgeous,and guys with palish skin,green/blue/golden eyes,long hair and a "manly" face but with a slightly cute/feminine touch really,REALLY sexy...But if ones personality is horrible for me they will look like the ugliest person in the world.

Ok, I'm Italian, but I'll try to make you understand my point of view. For me, beauty, is what someone has inside. You can be the most beautiful woman in the world outside, but the worst inside. And this is not beauty, it's just appearance. When someone is strong, try to be happy and helps you when you need, well, THIS is beauty. And then, as you say, beauty is subjective. Everyone has its idea about what is beauty. I just think that we all should try to appreciate everyone. Kisses :)
i spent most of my teenage years trying to live up to other people's ideas and standards of beauty and did not feel attractive at all. i dressed so that i would blend in but with time that changed with time i grew more confident in terms of clothing, makeup and have my own ultra girly style and actually find myself to be quite pretty (no arrogance intended) its okay to like what you look like and make the best of yourself. it just takes a while to realize that =) embrace your own beauty girls!

I think true beauty comes from within too :) you have to learn to be comfortable with who you are and what you look like, then you will shine :) the hatred are the people who have not found that yet and can't stand to see others who are happy with themselves so they try to put those girls down :( which is sad because it turns into bullying :( ...

You have the nicest healthiest hair I have ever seen :0 esp blonde as I know how dry it can get! But you are 100% right about Katie! My friend and I friend were talking about this guy. He is so beautiful (on the outside - but the inside?) He has been calling my friend (Mark - obviously a guy) ugly, for quite a while. I tell him every day that he is beautiful to me, he does not listen. So I told Mark that i thought that the guy was ugly, for calling him ugly. So he said, "I guess that you become beautiful when you act beautiful". So I always "act beautiful". xoxo

Beauty for me..um it's kinda hard to explain. A beautiful person for me is my mum. She is the most beautiful human in the whole world, it's not that she's my mum, I know her REALLY good. She's smart,brave,good,nice,polite,pretty,full of love,care and she helps a lot to anybody! I just simply love her..She is always here for me. The definition of beauty..I think there's no exact definition for it.I agree that everybody has their own definition of beauty! But one is for sure beauty isn't makeup!

i truly think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! for example when you love someone suddeny their name is the most beatiful sound in the world and suddenly their face is the most beautiful face in the world to you. i think that people never look more beautiful than when theyre being kind, or smiling or helping other people! =) very intesting video! x

For me beauty isn't directly linked to what a person looks like on the outside,but to the character of a person..Sure I find medium sized girls with pale skin,green/blue eyes,long healthy hair and a cutesy,round,porcelain doll like face really gorgeous,and guys with palish skin,green/blue/golden eyes,long hair and a "manly" face but with a slightly cute/feminine touch really,REALLY sexy...But if ones personality is horrible for me they will look like the ugliest person in the world.

I love these kinds of videos :) To me beauty is who you are inside, if you're a good person. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside. Physical beauty means absolutely nothing if you're mean and nasty.

Ok, I'm Italian, but I'll try to make you understand my point of view. For me, beauty, is what someone has inside. You can be the most beautiful woman in the world outside, but the worst inside. And this is not beauty, it's just appearance. When someone is strong, try to be happy and helps you when you need, well, THIS is beauty. And then, as you say, beauty is subjective. Everyone has its idea about what is beauty. I just think that we all should try to appreciate everyone. Kisses :)

i spent most of my teenage years trying to live up to other people's ideas and standards of beauty and did not feel attractive at all. i dressed so that i would blend in but with time that changed with time i grew more confident in terms of clothing, makeup and have my own ultra girly style and actually find myself to be quite pretty (no arrogance intended) its okay to like what you look like and make the best of yourself. it just takes a while to realize that =) embrace your own beauty girls!
