I had a friend who survived it when she was really young. It affected her entire life. Her family fled to France, and her parents became over-protective afterwards. Anyway I agree with the overall premise you are trying to put across. Sadly this can happen in any country.

That Turkey thinks it is somehow special in not committing any genocide (i.e. the Armenian Genocide), is effectively denial and revisionist history that even several Western Countries have not denied about themselves having committed in their own (rarely brief history).
