Theres also a place called glentress near a place called selkirk in the scottish borders check it out its epic and is great for all types of riders from rookies to pro and its cheap and has a cafe to relax in after a hard days biking and has a shop and a place to get your bike serviced
@akpride609 29ers are harder to get though tight corners b/c of their large wheels. the advantage of 29ers is that they roll easier through rocks and roots, but with all the travel on a dh bike that shouldnt be a problem. I ride a 29er hardtail, and the big wheels make up for no rear suspension in my opinion. but then again i ride xc.
@akpride609 there are few advantages to 29" wheels on a DH bike because of the way they tend to be set up and ridden, e.g. slack headtube, loads of travel, and ridden downwards with tight turns. These things mean that 26" wheels can offer as good a ride because of the suspension travel and greater agility because of the wheel size in relation to headtube angle
@craighall7 ah that’s all good I agree with what you’re saying, personally I prefer to ride in Wales like abergorlech, but like me I can’t drive and I live in the middle of Birmingham so it’s not easy for me and possibly flingfready to get to these places

Hello....This Has Been A great Video And Really Enjoyed It..........Ive Reacently Got a Specialized Bike And I wanted to know what are the specs to determine if its a mountain bike or a DH bike?
@ivanrcks95 you can use any bike for riding downhills a but a bike built for down hill will only usually only have 9 gears a long travel fork and frame (8 inches of travel or 200mm) and 8 inch rotors ( the disk part of your disk brake. What bike did you get? and i have a feeling its not a down hill bike if you dont know( the bikes are like 40-50 lbs and cost in the thousands)
@ivanrcks95 i doubt you have a dh bike because i think youd know but dh bikes usually have 9 gears 8 inch disks (for the brakes) 8 inches of suspension travel and weigh between 40 and 50 lbs ( they also sell for thousands)
@segans The other guy is Jamie Goldman also a Santa Cruz Syndicate rider and Bikeskills instructor. And that's Jeremy Teman on the camera. Smooth like Greg and Jamie. Fun, down to earth group to work with.

@Kafz7774777 no there's not such a bike, you have the internet do some research, there are only 4k or even more dh bikes, anny less money is just a waist of money, because you will wreck it in one season!

2:42 on down the hill your back brake is locked up. LEARN to use the front brake, all your weight is on the front, that is the most effective brake in MOST situations, back is not much good downhill, if you really want to control your bike learn to use the front brake, it has most of the stopping power, and you won't tear up the trail like that if you learn to control your bike better with the front brake, happy trails to you.
@manabiker I think he made the right choice there. He was talking about scanning the trail and picking the right lines in that segment. On that section its downhille to a 90 degree left turn. He slid sideways down the bottom half of the hill so he would be lined up for the trail at the bottom. Sure technically, its good not skid your tires, but it seems to me he picked the fastest way to get through there. Of course I'm from TX very no DH here. More rollercoaster xc

are Full Face helmets free ride specific or for all-mountain also? i mean, i know it's not impossible to go and do XC with a full face helmet on, but at what point it is necessary?
Can anyone tell me why downhill/freeride riders have their seats tilted so far back? I was always taught to have the seat perfectly level, but I'm a trail rider.
@samburger077 This way your seat is level when you're going downhill, and its easier to move you weight backwards past the saddle if the bulk or the seat is lower.
hm...probably the best tip Know your limits bad tip if u ask me is don't look straight down if u are going fast its ok but if u are slower that is area scanning and 1 thing more g-outs are like stairs (if u go fast on them) he has explained g-outs badly g force will take ur body in mentioned position automatic (front wheel down, body at rear)
@sunnysang if ur an xc biker doing lots of climbing ya, if u want to do more jump and drops and descending stuff (dh/fr) then no clip ins because if u wreck clipped in its bad ; )
I've been doing biking for a number of years now, and although I've done both Downhill tracks and used full suspension bikes before, I've just got my own one - A Commencal Met v.6.

I'm lack of saftey gear (although I have seen an Evo going cheap)

Great vid but the "G out" they showed wasn't really a g out at all. G outs are sudden and sharp as hell. Real G outs will destroy your entire run if you don't do them right, or cause you to wreck badly.
Love those bikes with passion man. I have an Enduro in the Black, white and red colour scheme featured and a Marin QUAD XLT 7.8 for more serious downhill, and niether have never let me down in the short time I've had them both. Question for you all aswell, do you think it's better to keep your legs ridgid on rough, rocky / rooted downhill stretches, or keep them 'loose' to act as a second or third set of shock absorbers?

This video really makes me wanna ride and ride hard :) But it's no more than 3-4 degrees celsius otside and the mountain is covered with few centimeters of snow and ice....Anyway...Minnaar just makes that kind of riding look too easy.
AHAHA man freeride doesnt have boundaries doesnt matter where you are ok its you finding somthing new its free you do what you want no rules no nothing just do what you want thats crazy and setting new limits everyday

This video really makes me wanna ride and ride hard :) But it's no more than 3-4 degrees celsius otside and the mountain is covered with few centimeters of snow and ice....Anyway...Minnaar just makes that kind of riding look too easy.

What is the price difference between a freeride bike and a downhill bike? And can a freeride bike be used to ride downhill as well?
Thanks for any answer:)
NIICKE 2 years ago
they are practically the same thing. Freeride and Downhill are extremely similar.
Generally DH bikes uses a dual crown suspension fork while a FR one uses a single crown one.
The similiarities doesn't end there.
youngplainjuan 2 years ago
down hill bikes are more heavy and durable, but not so manuverable. as the opposite is to a free ride bike
MTBkerz 2 years ago
in my country...
** Freeride are on circuits or streets, frame are rigid and very low, light fork suspension....
** DH are on montains, forrest, dirt roads
thats right use dualcrown fork and rear suspension and michelin tires 26x2.80
is what I use, is not a rule
XtremeFreeride 2 years ago
AHAHA man freeride doesnt have boundaries doesnt matter where you are ok its you finding somthing new its free you do what you want no rules no nothing just do what you want thats crazy and setting new limits everyday

may loosen it. if your supension are to hard, i think it trows you away from your bike.
KIDLATBUHAWI 2 years ago
adjust your suspension . loosen or harden it. just try the trial and error. and use a pedal with a better grip on it.

all MOUNTAIN?
KIDLATBUHAWI 2 years ago
When i go over rough terrain with alot of sharp bumps my feet slip off the pedals.
Is it my cheap bike with a bad suspension or is it me. Any tips?
