I agree what young folks need to be taught rather than just told DONT DO IT, but rather like you said, heres sex in your faith, what you gonna do bout it. yeah!
I just wish girls would advertise the fact that they made a pledge for that. because statistics say they are 3/4 more likely to do anal. And anal is even better no creepy christian babies and no 200 mile trips to the abortion clinic to make sure nobody from her church sees her like the last time. And she doesnt have to say the reason she was there was to plant a pipe bomb.
Kids shouldn't sign pledges if they don't understand sex, thats for sure. Parents have an obligation to educate their children. They can't expect them to be chaste just because they signed a card. Purity balls may be overated, but the True Love Waits pledge is good. I believe sex should be saved for marriage. It is a sign of love even before meeting your spouse. I will be honored if my future husband saves himself for me as I am doing for him.
there's nothing wrong with being "pure" but i doubt all of these kids are going to do so...
the worst part is if those few that don't honor purity pledges have sex they are the most likely to end up pregnant because they sure as hell will know NOTHING about contraception or safer sex, etc.
And If I may add something I would like to add that there is one thing that True Love waits and these other programs don't take into account and that is some people never marry
A piece of paper is no match for biology! I wonder if they teach these kids that it's OK to satisfy themselves at these purity balls (yes, I'm talking about the big "M"-word: masturbation). Why do I get the feeling they regard that as "impure" as well? Sex is not dirty. It's a beautiful part of our humanity that is up to each individual to decide when to share it with a beloved partner. The whole concept of sexual "purity" is not an idea I subscribe to.
I could NOT agree with you more. I think the associations I had with sex (Catholic mom. Enough said) messed me up emotionally more than most things from my childhood. I could go on for hours about how the concept of viriginty until marriage is really tied to social/population control, the last vestiges of America's Puritanical heritage and a twisted sense of "protecting" females from their own sexuality... Good God. In any case? You're so, so right.
I'm with you that the idea is good but the way they do it is wrong. Signing something like that really holds no value. Teaching your children or whoever good values, respect, and good decision making to begin with holds much more weight.
Well some churches also give classes on saving sex for marriage. I think sex should be saved for marriage but we have sex ed classes that tell you to just be safe not to try and abstain from it. Condoms dont always work and you can catch STD's or get someone pregnant with one on.
lol "butt sex doesn't count" good way of putting it... just one of those phrases that sticks in yer head... Very interesting thoughts. I'd say that I'm going to do a vid response but I'm behind on videos already LOL so I'll say "I might" but I'm not sure...
They keep comming up with new ways to celebrate mediocrity but no one falls for it because someones life is nothing like how looks on paper next to 350 million other names. Simply the problem is not that young people don't understand the dangers it's that the pressure combined by a natural urge is too great to stop paper.
Sorry my pussy belongs to daddy.

and one more thing purity balls are just unnecssary and the parents can teach their kids about this without the ritual
Jbessette 4 years ago
Something about the whole ritual is kind of creepy. I wonder if many of those Dads were forced into the whole thing by their wives.

Where's Beavis and Butthead when you need them for comic relief:
Butthead: Hey beavis, I'll purify her with MY balls.
Beavis: Yah Yah, me too- we're going to score.
Butthead: Purity Balls rule!
