  • Is it possible to just download a rom and emulator to play this game, or is there the chance of getting a copy that has the anti-pirate thing at the end of the game that erases your file? I've known about this game for a long time, but not long enough apparently cause I never remember seeing it as a kid. But now I really want to experience this game. I hear so many amazing things about it, especially after watching "Roo" from Clan of The Grey Wolf talk about it.

  • This is so touching and the game is just amazing not just cause its fun but it means something

  • Thinking about Earthbound and how much it means to me and how it's really changed the way I look at everything around me always puts me on the verge of tears. I seriously now believe in myself so much more. Thanks, Earthbound, for giving me that strength!

  • I'm a recent convert to the Mother series... and I weep because I didn't give this game a chance sooner...

  • This song is so Beautyful

    EarthBound uses Eight Melodies

    linkXness cant stop Crying

    YOU WON

  • How many of you had to cure your uncontrollable crying after watching this? :'l

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis They need a visit from Pokey Bots!

  • Only us Earthbound fans were crazy enough to translate the 2 games we never got, nobody even ATTEMPTED other games like Fire Emblem, this proves Earthbound is somethinfg special. Anyone holding a copy of a Earthbound game are the ones who can grasp the true specialness of this one small franchise. We never saw Japan only Pokemon products translated by fans but Mother games on the other hand... Generations from now, we might see all our dreams come true. Remember. *plays this video.

  • @luigimarioman1 There are plenty of other series with games that get translated. 2 is nothing compared to some others. Tales of games, Super Robot Wars, and even Fire Emblem recently get just as much love.

  • @luigimarioman1 Wait. wha, huh?! Fire emblem games do get translated. A s a matter of fact every fire emblem game is translated. Fire emblem 12 is wanted here in america just as much as mother 3! Believe me i am a BIG mother fan but i just needed to correct you on that...

  • Liek dis if u cry evry tiem

  • @shawngskinner i luv dis song 5ever

  • Finally reuniting those 4 stones was so sad for me, because it meant that the game was almost over...

  • I WANT A MOTHER 4 :(

  • @TheMetamaxNIN yeah sure, but whats it gonna be about? porky is dead, giygas is dead, lucas is maybe dead, and ness is probably 40, carrying a sledgehammer instead of a bat. is there gonna be another character with ANOTHER plot?

well, actually, there might. look up Mother 4 on google and find the one that says mother4.andonuts.net. it should be the first one. check it out! (its fanmade)

  • @theultimate991 Thank you. I hope the game would be good (not as much as the other).

  • @TheMetamaxNIN no problem. i like seeing other Earthbound/Mother 3 fans. they make me happy knowing i'm not the only freak who plays earthbound and wants another sequel.

  • Chrono Trigger!!

  • anybody who hates earthbound hates earth.

  • Sweet memories that I too, long for the youth that was my childhood. Hearing this makes me want to go back to simpler times. Times with friends, family, and of games like this that talks to your soul... Hope I'm not the only one to think this.....

  • Where's the extraction point?

  • I honestly cried when I got all the stones together... awesome game

  • @0:18 to 0:30 is Ness's victory theme from SSB.

  • My brother in-law bought this game for about.. $300 or 150. I told him it was worth all that cash. I played a LEGAL version, not an emulator, on the SNES.

  • @Generalmew30 I owned this game when it came out and got to experience the scratch n' sniff stickers. I totally suggest getting them while you can still find them.

  • Manly tear... :,[

  • Too bad it seems that I'm the only one who actually seems to know or like Earthbound in my middle school. Everyones in that Call of Duty/Battlefield/Gears of War place. They're not bad games but they're played way too much.

  • @bbs9824 the problem is not theirs. its Nintendo's for

    1. not releasing Mother 3 in America

    2. stop making Mother games

  • @bbs9824 same here my and friends think im strange for playing the classics.

  • I'd probably cry in distress as well if my uncle burst into tears while humming a song from a Super Nintendo game.

  • Comment removed

  • I once sang this song as a lullaby to my 7 year old niece. I love this song so much that I started crying. My niece started crying as well and then started singing this song too. Apperantly, she's finished the game before me.....

  • @TeamXYZproductions yup. just like the good ol' days...

    ah.

  • If anyone can find anything more nostalgic, then they can have my house, so I can live in peace with my Earthbound... Memories... :')

  • These games makes you question life, your motives, your actions, your purpose, in a way that no other game has. Honestly, I feel this game is the most realistic entertainment to date.

  • Dali's Clock

  • @cb52211 The amount of pop culture references was a problem (though if there's that many problems now how they released it in the first place is beyond me.). They had a plan to change it, but Nintendo of Japan didn't want to change their game so much. And I don't blame them. To see this masterpiece changed at all would be more of a dissapointment than it not being released.

  • @cb52211 copyright reasons

  • I wonder why Nintendo has yet to release Earthbound on the Virtual Console. While some say it's the music, then why has it not been released in Japan then? And when the Virtual Console was introduced, one of the titles Iwata specifically mentioned was Earthbound. Clearly they originally planned to release Earthbound on the virtual console. So what happened? Since there's no official word from Nintendo, I guess it will forever remain a mystery.

  • @cb52211 There is ONE enemy in the game that made it so that they didn't put it on the virtual console!!!

  • @EmeraldSapphireRuby What enemy?

  • @cb52211 Dali's Clock

  • @EmeraldSapphireRuby And that one enemy is greed. The companies would sue Nintendo 10000000 times because of all the references in the game...

  • 11 people couldn't comprehend the sadness and epicness of this game! :'')

Truly a wonderful track makes me think of my childhood *sniff*

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis they just can't comprehend your x-box nae tag

  • the reason earthbound isn't on VC is because it has ALOT of copyrighted stuff in it such as music if they released it on VC nintendo would be sued like one hundred times and they rather not alter the game...sigh..sadly however i know this comment is just gonna be ignored and people are still gonna wail "RELEASE IT ON VC"

  • Alot of people make fun of me for liking this game, some kids on X-box live even made fun of me because my username was referencing Giygas. People don't understand what I see in this game and honestly... I can't explain what I see in it either... but there is something I see... something that makes me feel happy every time I play it... something that makes me feel like I have a purpose in this world but I just haven't found it yet.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis I understand. No one seems to get why I like this game, and i cant explain it well.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis kids are stupid on xbox live

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis I know exactly how you feel... people terribly underrate this game just because it's old! This game has much more beauty to it than anything produced now-a-day. Live on loving Earthbound! For you are not alone... just pray, and everyone else will be with you, praying for your safety.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis those words really mean something... i hear you, bro. the earthbound-ers are here and they hear you too.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis What assholes make fun of you for liking a game?...

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis How the hell does one know earthbound well enough to recognize a reference to Giygas without loving it? Abandon world.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis They cannot grasp the true form of masterpiece!

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis

    We're with you, bro.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis Let's hope your purpose is a PSI Hero that save the world and every sucker that makes fun of you will either respect you or die.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis They don't comprehend the true awesomeness that Earthbound is.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis I feel you brother. It's really strange, but Earthbound makes me feel the same way too. When i am browsing through (for instance) Starmen.net forums its like i know everyone there, even when i don't. For me the only way to describe Earthbound is that its like a drug. At least for me.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis I understand. It makes no sense, but this game is more to me.

  • @ThaWaffleBroskis If you haven't done so yet, you owe it to yourself to go to a website called "Clan of the Grey Wolf" and watch "Roo's" couple videos on the History of Earth Bound. He feels very passionately about this game and even though I sadly have never played it, I could tell he really loved it. it's in a section of the site called "16-bit Gems"

  • i like this song because it makes me feel like a kid again....

  • @EchidnaStudios i know what ur feeling. but ive played some 47 times,

this music penetrates my heart like a bolt,

  • @EchidnaStudios play it.

    NO REALLY PLAY IT. It's so awesome. ;u;

  • It sucks that I can't break the Call of Duty curse because truthfully Nintendo makes games 5 million times better than most other develepors

  • @tk1e What other devs? I'm starting to dislike a lot of fanboys more than ever because they treat every other game they don't know about like it's Call of Duty, when it is far from correct. FAR.

  • While I may have been dumb to play this game over hangin gout with girls at the time being made fun of by my friends, these memories last forever, I don't even know those girls anymore. It's hard to say what I would rather have experienced. Fleeting summer time young love or a musical and graphical journey of imagination, friendship and conflict of epic proportions.

  • @art11art12 Memories last in your mind, always....People and situations such as that, however, do not.

I am grateful for the good memories that I have.

I could've spent my time hanging out with other kids but I am glad I got to remember things attentively as a child when playing alone and climbing trees by myself.

  • I wish I had been alive when this game came out....

  • @TakesMeAnHour Believe me, I know where you're coming from.

  • Warning: Exposure to the eight melodies can cause you to break down into manly tears. you have been warned.

  • jack tomphson and reggie created 11 accounts to dislike this song

  • i was stuck in fourside i kept dieing at the mook battel and then my game just broke on me

  • C'mon guys. I know we all have our issues with certain genres, but this is not the place to fight over it. Every game has a meaning to someone. We need to let others have thiers, and thier is no reason to bicker about it.

Now adays people always seem to remember the 'violent 90s' when they speak of modern teens. This song is the antithesis. This song gives me a feeling of loveing warmth for the time I was a kid. nothings ever perfect, but people need to remember things like this instead.

  • It always tears me inside seeing baby Ness practicing his PSI with his bottle.

  • People should atleast play a game for 30 minutes before judging it. My mom and sister have good taste on Earthbound and etc, but they complain whenever i play one of these heart touching songs.

  • this music makes me strong.

    i am not kidding.

    i fucking love earthbound.

haters can go suck a dick

  • This kinda sounds like the mother 3 love theme...wonder if this inspired the theme

  • this kind of sounds like the 16 bit version of one of the main themes from FF8. I loved Earthbound, first SNES game I played

  • I feel so dum and ignorant I'm a huge fan of mother but only cus smash introduced me to it plus it's so weird ness used to be my bros main in smash but now he hates ness and the whole earthbound/mother series :,(

  • @royeric5 He's just made of stone, don't worry about it.

  • i knew this game YEARS before smash brothers came out :)

  • @jteg96 So like 4 years?

  • While we're on the topic of how we got into this great game, I found it through Pikmin 2. Long story short: Submerged Castle sounds like Cave of the Past, decided to watch it, got mentally scarred for a few weeks and then loved it.

    My story isn't as awesome.

  • The only reason i got this is cause of Ness' appearance on SSB. So, i wanted more information about him and my only hope was emulation... Same with Mark...

  • This brought tears to my eyes....SOOOO much good memories with this game

  • Fucking music...I remember getting this box with the player's guide and all for my birthday when my mom surprised me on my birthday. She said, "can you grab my purse from under your seat?" I did, and voila! There it was - this beautiful game. Shit rips my heart out every time I hear the music. I really felt like I was Ness. I related a lot to the game because of my birthday because of how great my mom was. I love it! Sorry, random and stupid. I appreciate the upload.

  • Should I take this as a man (Cry) or a real gamer (Cry even more)?

  • @Emild00d As Demoman says:CRY SOME MORE!

  • @LozoRozoDX

You mean new age retro heavy?

  • @WalterREBoRN Wat? And hi again

  • @LozoRozoDX

    Lol :P hi

Look up new age retro heavy in the search bar

    Perfect remix

  • @LozoRozoDX you mean the heavy?

  • @Emild00d A real gamer. This is an emotionally touching game, and it deserves all the love it gets. :*)

  • Maybe

  • Never mind about my last comment, anyways, do you wanna know why we did not get games that were released on Japan or Europe? It's because of those COD fans. Those COD people is like Giygas. Disawolling us to get the good games, like the games of Operation Rainfall, and maybe Mother 3. As I said, those COD fans are like Porky or Giygas, just not allowing us to get those games. ;(

  • How cheery and nice. I'm sure the whole game will be like this. Yes indeed. Cute and fun and HOLY SHIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED.

  • @BluePBoxProductions - First up, that MAY happen, only if all the copyright problems were fixed in Earthbound, but....well......If that happens, Nintendo will be bombarded by lawsuits. On the other hand, If they fix all the lawsuits, Earthbound won't fee

  • This song makes me a little teary. I'm unsure as to why :'(

  • *Sniff*..Nintendo..WHY! RELEASE THIS GAME ON VC...PLEAAAAAASE!....If there is one thing i wanna do when i grow it. It's make a tribute to this AMAZING game....

  • @BluePBoxProductions Releasing the game on the Japanese VC (and a demo on Brawl's Japanese Version) is Nintendo's way of trolling us. ='(

  • @BluePBoxProductions ikr its sad coz they made them change the game so much that they didnt want to release it on vc :(

  • Got my copy of Earthbound today, I can't wait to play it!

  • Since I live in Europe I can't help BUT emulate or else I couldn't play this game at all.

  • @Busterdrag Japan always gets the best stuff. I may have this game, but this is all we got. We all got jipped man. we all got jipped.

  • Its always the Eight Melodies that almost brings me to tears in Earthbound. It is such a beautiful tune.

  • @AFuriousHedgehog I am sorry but Mother 3 had no Eight Melodies...

    It was something deeper...

  • I'll admit I got into Earthbound second hand. I only discovered EB through Ness' appearance in Super Smash Bros, and my only experience playing it is through emulation. Regardless, I like to think my experience has been genuine. My love for the game is true. And the feelings of nostalgia it stirs within me are strong, and I pine for a past I was not necessarily around to experience. Strange huh?

  • @markthewhalekiller Kind of, but I also discovered Earthbound through SSB.

Only difference is that I own a Super Nintendo and was willing to pay $80 for a genuine copy. God, was it worth it.

  • @markthewhalekiller

Nope. I found my interest in alot of Nintendo game through SSB. And I love all of them like I was a fan since the their first appearance. You're not alone man :D

  • @markthewhalekiller same here. live long and prosper my friend.

  • @markthewhalekiller same with me

  • @markthewhalekiller It doesn't matter how you played the game or learned about it. What matters is that you were captivated by it's genuine beauty. Your experience was genuine. You played, you laughed, you might have cried, and you were entertained. That is as real as you can get with these games.

  • @markthewhalekiller just like you i feel a certain kind of nostalgia for thing i wasnt even around to enjoy. Like this game or the orignal dragonball. Ive played earthbound and watch the orignal dragoball in only the past year but i get hit with an extremely deep sense of nostalgia when i think back to them.

(Then again since my mom took away all my current systems i can only play old games on emulators so I'm been pretty much living in the past lately)

  • @markthewhalekiller no not at all =)

  • @markthewhalekiller thats exactly how i got into the whole series, and now it is forever a great part of my young life ;u;

its nice to know that smash bros could spread the knowledge of such an amazing game <3

  • @markthewhalekiller Same story here...

  • @markthewhalekiller

You just described, perfectly, my experience with the Mother series

  • @markthewhalekiller I feel the same way about Mother 3. I figured it out because of Lucas' appearance. The story totally touched my heart and made me CRY. I usually don't cry, but I was like a fountain. I went to sleep, next morning I woke up and thought about it, and was stil crying on the way to school. My teacher saw me crying, and asked what was wrong. I explained the WHOLE ENTIRE story of Mother 3 in front of my entire 2nd period class. I felt like a dork, but at the end they applauded.

  • @markthewhalekiller Even one of the popular kids, Preston Chan, gave me a thumbs up. I explained the masked man, pigmask army and everything. The teacher just sat back and watched. It took aboout 30 minutes, though. The teacher said that I was brave for explaining it. And she said that she ''personally" liked Duster has her favorite character. The next day, 11th & 12th graders were congradulating me and stuff. It got around school. And I became Semi-popular. Thank you, mother 3.

  • @markthewhalekiller not at all. I love this game even more than Smash Bros...

  • HEART, STOP EXPLODING!

  • Was Buzz Buzz reincarnated somewhere around :35?

  • @campfiresPWNvampires Well luckily before he died he sent himself a text message from the past to the future telling him to... *Goes on with rambling explination*

  • i have been dieing to play earthbound but it is to expencive D':<

  • @stupidmariobros8989 Well, you could emulate it, but that's not necessarily legal lol

  • @Pyro25100 Even if it was legal, it just wouldn't feel the same as using a real snes, game pack, and tv. :|

  • @stupidmariobros8989 Yeah, that's true. I don't get the same feeling using an emulator...I miss my snes...

  • This is why I love Nintendo. 10 years from now, everyone's gonna say "Mass what? Red Dead who?" But 20 years after the SNES we still remember and discuss it, because it just left that much of an impact. Nintendo games last forever. Games now just last until they win "omg gAem uv thUh yeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!"

  • So... wonderful!

  • FF was good until they started getting into the whole graphics obsession. Now it's crap =P

I had SSB when I was a little kid and I had no idea of Ness' existence. (Mostly because I always did classic with 5 lives) Then, in melee I saw the character said "Woah, some random ordinary kid, what does he do?" I didn't even know he was using PSI. Then I played the EARTHBOUND and I was like "This kicks ass!" Now I am part of the superior race known as Mother fans.

  • What a pity the newer generation will never know about this awesome game. I haven't beat it yet, but its a lot of fun. I'm always criticized because I like older games but who cares. The newer generation is so obsessed with fancy graphics. I even have a cousin who says he doesn't like games that are old because of the graphics.

  • @Zeldanerd64 My bro is 8 and plays baldurs gate and earthbound lol.. Mainly because I force him.

  • @DwellerOfTheElmTree how did you get it on your phone? Ive been trying to download it cause i really wanna play it and idk how

  • @AFuriousHedgehog

Oh wow, my mind is blown. I was referring to your comment's terrible grammar.

  • i went as ness for Halloween

  • @bobo18342 Ditto, My favorite game series is EarthBound, I'm Like EarthBound's #1 fan. nd for fan support, REGGIE!!

  • This reminds me of when i was seven and when my brother left for collage, he left me his snes with earthbound and said "Play it, Please!" Im thankful for him forever...

  • epic

  • @DwellerOfTheElmTree I've already beaten the 3rd one. Now I'm working on this one and MOTHER. :3

  • @AFuriousHedgehog

Yeah, all of the two both of them.

  • This game is great :)

  • @DwellerOfTheElmTree I have it on my phone,PSP and PC. :3 I love it!

  • dude earthbound has litteraly the greatest battle setup of all rpg's, earthbound's scrolling health is such a great inovation that very few rpg's after it have used, its a shame...

  • @8BitInk oh and dont forget the automatic wins those are helpful aswell

  • i never noticed ness in starmans face

  • We need a Mother 4!!!! and some remakes of Mother and earthbound!!!

  • @TheBurndexDude There's a fan group producing their own Mother 4. Unlike most fan-sequel projects, these guys seem to have their heads on pretty straight. Check it out, first result on Google for "Mother 4." Pretty cool stuff.

  • earthbound i know someday i'll play you someday

  • While I admit Onett wasn't too great, the rest of the game fucked me up for life.

    In a good way.

  • Why I Cry When I Hear Earthbound Musics?

Why I Cry After Defeating Giygas And Porky?

Earthbound Is A Beautiful Game, Beautiful History.

    And A Veeeeery Good Gameplay.

  • FAVORITE!!!!

  • I don't consider the mother games as a trilogy, I consider a saga or an epic, they really are so much more than just a collection of games

  • simple and humble things like this grow with you and define the man that you are now.

  • OBJECTION THIS IS NOT EIGHT MELODIES THIS IS NESS'STHEME

  • @darklunarknight

OBJECTION IM ABSOLUTELY SURE ITS THE EIGHT MELODIES

  • @RDMonkey2 CORRECTION, THIS IS THE EARTHBOUND'S 8 MELODIES WHICH ARE BASED OFF NESS'S MEMORIES. MOTHER'S 8 MELODIES ARE DIFFERENT SINCE THEY ARE BASED OFF MARIA'S MEMORIES.

  • So, each melody lasts 4 seconds?

  • The stuff that happened to ness, about being so pure of heart and saving the world comes from parents that actually care about you

  • No crying until the end...

  • @Crossroadsinc Uber famous video game quote ftw! :o

  • @Crossroadsinc Guaranteed Masterpiece.

  • to be honest, i had let out a tear or two when i saw Ness in the crib...

  • @RDMonkey2 aww its ok buddy me too but on mother 3 that 1 is just sad :,[

  • I'm halfway through EB, now, and I must say, it has lived up to everything I've heard/read about it. It's fun, hilarious, original, difficult at times. Not to mention: just plain crazy.

  • Its almost as if this is a rehash of the mother 1 melodys(Just faster)

  • i bet this would sound awesome on wine glasses

  • EDISNOOM OT EMOCLEW
