I read an interview with Kev about the time of the release of the song. He explained that the version of Real Love that was issued to him for the making of the video was incomplete - (as beatleboybob points out, they were worried that the song might be leaked before the official release. So being a muso as well as video director, Kev recorded the missing vocal segments himself - performing with the Threetles as he described it!
What i beleve is that, when they needed to have a mix of the song to sync to the video, they didnt want a chance of the propper version being leaked, so they gave this version, or, atleast, that's what i've heard.
That's crazy. Godley with the Beatles!? I mean, wow!
