  • Awsome Chris is AMAZING unreal that this is a Johnny Cash song huh?

  • @MegaHoosier1 no, its originally a Soundgarden song, Cash covered it. he did a good job with it though.

  • @MegaHoosier1 Rusty Cage is a Soundgarden song dude, the main band Chris Cornell is famous for... Johnny Cash covered Rusty Cage, not the other way around.

  • haters gon' hate, for a performance from 2007, this is damn awesome

  • Great live performance...just shuffling @ and bouncing like Ozzy in his fifties.

  • holy shit..Cornell is a fucking god...

  • That song reminds me Road rashhhhhhhhh .... good times... My life was based on video game, soccer and rock and roll.....

  • @ninera11 when was this?

  • 8 people are soundgarden fans like me! xD

  • best cover band ever!!

  • @ohshiite Cover band? lol chris cornell is the frontman for soundgarden. lol

  • Best Male Vocalist of all time!

  • I think something you all need to remember is that he wrote the song, he loves singing it. he can do whatever the fuck he wants to do. so sit back, shut up and watch.

  • Hey Chris, just let it stay in the past, when it was actually awesome.

SEARCH: "Soundgarden Rusty cage live 1992 seattle"

  • @fib112358 he can do this now and he can do it amazing, so stfu

  • @fib112358 hey fib, last time i checked music doesnt have time barriers, search: no one gives a fuck what you think

  • WTF is Cornell doing 0:31?

  • crappy ass bitchs in the crowd need to show some life or GTFO

  •  this ---> /watch?v=2HoYBsv65Yw

  • Chris Cornell used to be so much cooler...bring back the 90's please, thumbs up if you agree

  • @lespaultelecaster he's still awesome....

  • Is Chris Cornell Iron Man? lol

  • cornell still sounds amazing but its kinda lame/disrespectful that he's doing SG songs without matt, kim, and ben....

  • just a shame he does shows like this wi that fuckin fruit crowd :)

  • @MissusFingerBottom first of all this song is being played with absolutely no feeling. if you can't tell the difference go back and listen to your badmotorfinger album and compare the tempos of Soundgarden vs. this jerkoff style of playing. And in case you haven't heard, Soundgarden is reunited and are playing their songs the way they were originally intended to be heard, not this karaoke style krap. mkay.

  • CornellsGarage my m.s.n is my profile baybe!

  • having chris not on guitar on all the soundgarden songs here (@msn) just kinda sucks

  • having chris not on guitar on all the soundgarden songs here (@msn) just kinda sucks

  • this sounds better with soundgarden

  • i love how the audience had NO IDEA what the song was.... lmao i would of socked the closest person next to me as soon as i heard that intro riff

  • stupid moshers who keep bumping into people just spoil this experience 3:42

  • I love Chris's style of headbanging..most people would do it up and down, he does it side to side.

  • okay back up vocals fuk up everything. lol the drumer is struggling . matt cameron made this look soo easyy HAHAH

  • arguing is for idiots and uneducated girls.

  • If you've ever seen him live, he is PHENOMENAL!

  • @2010cynic...your name preceeds you. but a true cornell fan would have known what his part time job was.

  • not soundgarden :(

  • I just love it when my favorite artist has been so commercialized that he's been reduced to singing karaoke to his own f***ing song.

  • @gablemalaise get a life. what should he do, go up on stage and stand with his arms crossed?

  • @gablemalaise oh and by the way he chose this profession to pay his bills, i don't recall him having some part-time job doing something else. He and Soundgarden signed a contract so they could potentially gain fans and buyers of their album. quit trying to sound smart.

  • @2010cynic oh and by making your comment you have personally reduced him to "puppet" status. Too bad he isn't Bob Dylan and could fart in a microphone and get a five star rating from Rolling Stone magazine just for being Bob Dylan. I bet you like bands just for the fact you think nobody else does.

  • @gablemalaise what the hell do you mean? He can't sing his own songs with another band now? Chris cornell makes amazing music, you can shut up now with your inane comments.

  • @MissusFingerBottom the only thing inane in this room is the name MissusFingerBottom. I think you should shut up now before I stick my finger up your ass MissusFingerBottom.

  • Comment removed

  • @gablemalaise oo internet gangster, how scary. No I won't shut up. You should be ashamed you are even listening to him, you aren't a fan at all if you hate on Chris cornell so much just because he isnt' in Soudngarden. I guess you aren't much of a fan at all, because you would know how he feels about smartass opinions like yours. If he writes the song, he can pretty much do whatever he wants with it, he's the rock muscian here, not you. And my name is a reference to a tv show, smartass.

  • he´s still great but he lacks the control of his voice he had in the 90´s whatch him playing and singing this awesome song in Seattle 1992

  • 2:57 listen to that scream, this is chris!!!

  • Chris Cornell had the best voice in all of rock.

    But it's gone man.

It kills me to say it, but his voice is now a shadow of the mighty roar he once weilded.

  • This was 3 years ago.

That raspy "shit" sound is gone from his voice now.

Is it like 1991 again? no.

Is it good as hell for a man pushing 50? Fuckin' A

  • @campoobutt Hell fucking yes sir! Well said!

  • @SUNSH1NESUPERMAN This is true, but his voice is a LOT better than it was in this vid! Listen to Soundgarden's Showbox show from last week! He sounds great!

  • @SUNSH1NESUPERMAN This may be true, but Cornell's voice is STILL incredible. Of course he doesn't sound the same as he did back in the early 90's, but he's 46 now. I would agree that his voice isn't the same as back in the day, but to say it's gone completely is an overstatement. He still does have a bit of his "mighty roar." :)

  • This sounds fucjing great!

  • If you've seen chris live lately, you'll agree he sounds great.

  • at 2:30 he screwed up the lyrics; he should have sung, "hit like a phillips head into my brain".

  • @ampflz0 lol cant really say that since he and of course soundgarden CREATED THE SONG just saying

  • Comment removed

  • You fuckers are crazy. He sounds awesome in this. Go listen to some other performances from around 2003-07 and then let me know how this sounds. Holy shit....

  • 3:02 nuff said. 100000000000000 stars

  • his voice seems to be more controlled than during the soundgarden's years!!! even if he's less agressive.

  • DUDE EVERYONE CHILL OUT.

It's called being tired. Like your voice is overworked, tends to happen when most of your songs have high ass screams in them.

Not to mention drinking carbonated drinks, cold drinks, and smoking is all terrible for the voice.

Do it before a show and it's a set up for disaster.

  • Ver ese Brazito valio los 17 años de mi vida

  • Chris Cornell didn't sell out.

He's just trying new mediums, like all artist do.

  • Chris Cornell you sold out :\

  • He just seems so bored. Soundgarden as a whole was phenomenal back in the Badmotorfinger days!!

  • his voice comes in and.. blah.. its almost as if its been broken.. or he cant remember how to do it anymore

  • I miss when he singed like hell

Now he can´t reach the high notes he did

    He was answeone

  • AHAHHAHHAHAHAH, 2:06 - 2:08

    awesome!

  • Funny/sad part is, this was probably one of their fans in their teens back in the 90's. My, what time does to us.

  • @Diablo123owns

    Hahahahaha great catch!! hahahah

  • as a fan of a lot of posthardcore metal groups these days, i'd say the breakdown at 3:04 is absolutely pulverizing. sends shivers down my spine

  • if a crowd now adays can get this excitied about rusty cage, a song theyve probably never heard before theres no reason rock won't come back

  • sell out my ass,the man makes music. you either like it and listen .or you dont.you people have nothing to do but try to over complicate your hollow lives.

  • nah to be far newist album was sellin out he worked with timberland for fuck sake

  • No, he wasn't selling out, you just didn't like it. You not liking it =/= him selling out

  • 0:00-5:01 is so awesome!

  • agreed

  • hes struggling abit with the notes.

  • He did the song worse then this a few times when he was in soundgarden.... its just a bad day.

  • Doesn't Chris Cornell look like the comedian Rich Hall?

  • ha funny seeing mosh pits at an MSN concert

  • looks wise, cornell aged well...too bad he cant hit the notes he used to though but whatever i still love em

  • is there an Audioslave cover of this song? i feel dat Timmy C and Tom Morello along with Brad Wilk can tuffen up this song, man wat a weak cover???

  • this is originally a Soundgarden song...the only person I know who ever covered it is Johnny Cash, and he mixed it up a little. Great interpretation though, if you like that sort of stuff...

  • i know about the stuff ure talking about but this aint "heavy" for me, in other words this cover is weak. i wish dat Audioslave made a cover of this material cause theyre cover of Soundgarden songs are good. but i dont like this cover :(

  • Love the Drummer...think its Barret Martin? Great song.

  • flat flat flat...

  • His voice sounds great but it is missing some of that attitude it use to have. His voice is outta angst. He needs to take a cue from his album and Fucking Scream! And get Soundgarden back together for one show only and it can be in my backyard.

  • hahaha GO Nick!!

  • Chris should do HIS thing, but Soundgarden was a BAND, and it should simply end there. Chris's band is horrible. Please Chris, NO MORE COVERS.

  • Chris sounds great. His band sucks as compared to Soundgarden. Actually, everything sounds like shit compared to Soundgarden.

  • Hahaha! Oh yeah, did you hear his solo record tanked! And on a funnny note, I'm goood friends with a past SG member and hike having coffee one day, CC txt'd him and asked if he'd play bass during his Seattle shows, and my friend simply said, "I'm busy man." Hahahahahaa!! True story. Check my posted vids.

  • It's worse than BAD karoake. This is pathetic and the music just sounds generic. You can't fill in for Ben, Kim and Matt. Sorry guys, it's harsh. Just plain.........nothing really. It's like a hole filled with emptiness, filled with nothing.........not even dead air or 5 tons of dead mice. It's much worse than that.......it's simply empty......nothing. Cornell seems so vacant and lost. Sad.

  • Agreed. His band sucks balls (as well as his last two solo albums).

  • 4:18

    holy shit!

  • nicely put

  • selllout??? last u checked making a new album that has a total different sound and doesnt have guitar in it and not pleasing as many of your fans as u would as if you've done more of the same shit is selling out??????that REALLY seems to make sense

  • As musician. I can tell you as you get older and better musically your style changes. Also When you write songs as you life changes sodo the contents of the music. Music is a art. Your not going to have the same style you did 20 years ago. Art is a progression.. Music is no exception. When you play it is not always about what your fans want but about what direction You want to take. Some times you leave the fans behind. I dont consider him a sell out.

  • amen brother..non musicians wouldn't get what you and I know to be true. Besides people want this and that and then when they get it, they still complain. Look at the zeppelin and van halen reunions--people knocked it left and right because such n such doesnt play like they used to or sing like they used to. People are spoiled simple as that. The forget these guys are 40-50 some years old..of course its gonna be different haha.

  • Indeed, if he were to sell-out, he'd reform Soundgarden like all these fools want. But he doesn't want to do that, he's staying true to himself as a musician.

  • Yeah, he would be selling out by playing the music that made him who he is to begin with and not making a fucking CLONE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ALBUM!!!!!

  • No, selling out would be to play what everyone expects him to.

  • No it wouldn't. Selling out is moving your music towards the mainstream, which is exactly what he did by teaming up with Timbaland.

    Scream is shit.

  • Then why isnt it on the radio?

  • Because it's obviously failing at hitting the mainstream.

And no, he didn't do this worse with soundgarden. Any Soundgarden performance destroys any current Cornell performance. He's still a good singer, but cannot be compared with his early years

  • How many times did you see soundgarden live lol

  • fools? true to himself? in a negative way, ya. wheres the agression? the vocal technique, the vocal range? and the grunge? this man was in Soundgarden, and songs like Superunknown, Like Suicide, Jesus Christ Posse were awesome. his new material is garbage. if he were to reform with Soundgarden he'd be doing himself a world of gud... trust me and the other Soundgarden fans who wud love their comeback.

  • I'm not saying I wouldn't rather him start playing songs like that again, because I'd be lying if I did.

However, all I'm saying is as a musician myself I respect that he's doing what *he* wants, not what everyone else wants. He's got balls that a lot of people are severely lacking in today's music.

Just give him time, I can almost promise that he'll go back to his roots after he gets this out of his system.

  • uh huh alrighty, i understand you. i dont hate they guy since hes my idol, but i dont like some covers by this band - this song for instance. but the man is still is a frickin beast, and impresses me with the things he does. as u said hope he gets back to his roots.

  • Man, all you people ripping on Chris are haters. Did I like Soundgarden better than anything he has does since ,of course, although I did love Audioslave, BUT still leave the man alone. Whatever road he wants to walk down musically thats fine with me cause he has already given my ears MUCH more than most. (off soapbox) PeacE

  • I liked chris's voice better now.. more mature and thick..

  • isnt it?! Its got this creamy raspy quality to it now, love that shit. You cant lie..CC has so much more control over that voice than he did in say 1990.

Euphoria morning...that man sang his ass off on that record! I hate the naysayers because they expect everything to be 'like the first album'

  • It isn't the same anymore though. And life does suck.

  • Cornell is a disappointing sellout. He's not playing guitar, screaming at the top of his lungs, or headbanging. He's singing like he's 90, and random old women are enjoing it. Fuck.

  • Those random women may have been Soundgarden fans way back in the day - we all get old m8. Life sucks ;)

He still sings great but he doesn't look like he is enjoying it as much - in saying that - must be hard to sing those songs for 15 years with the same anger. I think he can just control his voice better now so it's less effort.

  • He's getting old! Give the poor guy a break xD

  • ...Evolution...

  • chris is 44. he still has a great range

  • Chris sounds so damn weak here :/

  • apan ur an ass. your ears are weak

  • He looks uninspired and bored.

He's never gonna top what he did with Soundgarden, which is a shame. Amazing vocals on Loud Love, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. Temple of The Dog is great too

  • He has a great band behind him!

  • it's hard to believe how old he is, here it looks like he's 30 or so

  • genial!!!!

  • he doesn;t look to excited to sing this song

  • ok people say that its coz of the screaming...and that ed didnt scream like chris...thats bullshit.. ed screamed just as much as chris. He doesnt sound the same as he did but my lord ..i dunno. chris is on and off.

  • holy crap it's like he's completely changed... damn

  • his voice blows compared to the good ol' days.

  • didnt he have some sort of problem with his voice, maybe thats why he doesnt quite have the power

  • why doesn't chris play guitar like he used to? I love him, but he's disappointing me lately, what with his new music and all.

  • hes signed for timbaland, yes, thats his new producer....sellout or what! he wouldnt have sold out 18 years ago like that

  • yeah, a great artist as him should've taken a proper producer.. xD

  • well apparently hes now an r n b artist i got told today, utter tit

  • fuck rappers go grunge

  • who cares!!!!!!!

  • yeah he is a great singer,, but seems like he's lost that power in his voice.....doesnt't sound like soundgarden at all...yeah they really sound like a cover of soundgarden...

  • its been 10 years high voices like that tend to change overtime. Im just amazed he can still sing it pretty well

  • damn he sounds like a cover of himself.

  • the bassist is using a fuckin pick?!

  • loads of good bassist use a pick, just gives a different sound, makes it more defined than finger picked bassing.

  • Ben used fingers with soundgarden live but he played with a pick on tons of the recordings. give a listen to "never the machine forever" "ty cobb" "drawing flies" and "half" for some lines that are clearly picked. and when he played with Tadgarden for a short show, he used a pick live. so I don't know why you are so surprised that the bassist used a pick to cover soundgarden?!

  • cornell you SUCK without your real band backing you. would soundgarden fuckin reunite already?

  • What are you talking about???? are you deaf??? Chris is a great singer!!!

I love Soundgarden... but Chris is great alone or with they!!

  • this song, performance sucks with this band. cornell's voice is alright, not as good as it used to be, but the song blows with these guys. not the same energy

  • Rusty cage, performed during the rusty bollocks period of his career, just before they completely dropped off

  • where's kim thayil?

cause those guitar kids are so corny.....

  • Fucking best vocalist ever!

  • fucking rocks!

  • people who think chris cornell's voice is done didn't watch the entire video. he's awesome, especially after 4:10 !

  • i still prefer soundgarden actually performing it.

  • in my opinion, he's one of the best performers , with (R.I.P) Freddie Mercury, and Ronnie James Dio, and... Edith Piaf. 5000stars.

  • The best song!! Im gonna break my rusty cage and fckn run baby!!

  • Don't do drugs kids.

  • OMG .. what happened with his voice

  • FUCK!!!

Soundgarden videos have worst arguments then the goddam alice in chain videos about william duvall...cant every1 just watch and type something like"rad song"?

  • His voice is excellent here, given all the stuff he's done, and his age. excellent performance!

  • his voice has matured and aged 12x.

    it isnt done.

i think he sounds really fuckin good here. if u can sing like that when your 43 years old il give u a medal, but if youd done half the shit CCs done with his voice over the years u wouldnt be able to speak let alone sing like this

  • this touring band needs to be executed. especially the guitarist. surely chris can afford to hire better help than this.

  • hell yeah, i'd play guitar for him

p.s., thanks for the crowd shot of all the aged gen-Xer chicks :-P

  • actually his band is really cool live if you've ever seen him. and even though he won't do it when he's filmed he still has his soundgarden voice..

  • I'll never forget the offramp days!!!!

  • no one gives a fuck about your chatcam cuntface

  • Chris seems to have found his amazing voice back and all the jealous idiots that hope against hope that their favorite singers can sound like that at their forties, can drown in their sorrow and jealoucy ...

    Let THEM drown, I say ! :P

(who remembers that fantastic song, I wonder ... ;-p )

I have to add though that the backing vocals of that guitarist could surely have been better ...

  • no hay como el original...

  • sorry but I only accept the original soundgarden lineup OR Johnny Cash's version. The rest is just blah blah blah

  • Wow.. This was better than I thought.. Is he about to regain his voice? If thats the case, I feel happy on his way! Must be nice to listen to yourself and find out that you can sing really well again!

  • cornell is still sick ass hell esp his singing i rusty cage i love it, i wasnt around in the soundgarden era im 18 and i love all of there shit i love bad mottofinger

  • I don't know if Cornell is using a Britney Spears mic on this song, but his screaming voice is just like it was back in the day.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT somebody remembers this song from the Sega CD version of Road Rash!!!!! That's where I was first introduced to it! And Superunknown and Outshined. I would sometimes just let that shit play just so I could hear the songs. Where did grunge go? Fuck the Jonas Bros.

  • dude, i still have that game man..... its the first time i head them too. fucking awesome.
