  • @pokeplatinum62 It should be.

  • @lifeg0eson666 just one more question: where did the name res and mss come from?

  • @pokeplatinum62 I usually abbreviate "result" as "res" and "mss" probably meant something at the time.

  • @lifeg0eson666 I just figured out what mss could be MySql Secure

  • @lifeg0eson666 Im guessing that the mss means MySql Secure

  • @cheatonly2win It could, not sure.

  • Quite a fast comment response :P Just go to my website (can find the link on my channel). Then just click Source Files and download PHP Forum.

  • My login page doesn't like you, 3 errors:

    Notice: Undefined index: submit

    Notice: Undefined index: username

    Notice: Undefined index: password

    Any help?

  • how come bbcodes or html doesn't work?

  • THIS HELPED ME

    I R NOOB

  • why don't you use prepared statements?

  • stop your bitching.

  • Do not use "id, username" use "*" (a star)

that will allow you to select ANYTHING from the database.,

Do not do "echo 'you are allready logged in';"

that would continue the script.. do "die('You are akkready logged in'); (then no need for the else statement).

Honestly.. this is a bad tutorial, mabye partly more advanced then many tutorials, but still a very bad tutorial.

  • Why would I need to waste more DB-load by selecting everything, I only need to select the fields I need.

As for the already being logged in, it won't continue the script if the statement is true, thus the else statement won't even be looked at.

  • Because less code = less loading time.

And I know it won't continue the script, but it will check throught the rest of it even if the if/else statement is true.

  • Says the one who can't spell "already". Honestly go and lock yourself in your closet.

  • May I ask what the spelling has to do with programming?

May I ask what your problem is? Spell something in Norwegian and see how good you are.

  • Idiot. You have to spell to code PHP.

    Me: "echo"

    You: "ecko"

  • If you saw what I wrote, I did write "echo" and not "ecko"

The programming itself doesn't have to do with spelling, tell me a php code were you write "already".

But show us your norwegian skills.

  • I aint Norwegian. I believe in penalties. And PHP is all about skill. And spelling is important. Idiot.

  • The watch your fucking own spelling...

    "I aint" great one.

I am not English, so that would be a good enought reason for me to not have perfect english spelling.

And you do not have to be good in english to fucking make a PHP website.

  • What do you think retard?

  • I think that if someone here is the retard, it is you, but hey, that's my opinion.

And I think "is that the best he can com up with agains me?"

  • nope you lame low life self possesive piece of norweigan 2 year old female poor trampy sh it shole

    PLEASE HELP

  • Actually, im getting the same error and that is a problem somewhere in our table because the "3" you have a problem on is actually the user ID. I have tried alot to solve the problem but just cant fix it.

  • check how you use your single and double quotes, like this

    'SELECT id FROM users WHERE password = " '.$password.' " '

  • thanks i fixed it!

  • Good to hear. Its tricky when ur first starting out but after a while you just know.

  • i cant see a gd thing you did

  • I wanted to make an account area to log in and out of.

I tried many other codes from you tube. This was the only one that worked 100 percent like it should. This from a 16 year old? That's hard to believe, but if it's true, Nice Job kid !!!

  • I watched your tutorial in your site, but I got an error when I check it in my localhost. It is "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''users' WHERE 'username'='asf'' at line 1"

Could you tell me what's wrong w/ the syntax? Thanks

  • users' WHERE 'username'='asf'

    Should be

    `users` WHERE `username` = 'asf'

  • thanks!

  • can u upload the source files to make it easier to follow?

  • what programi she using ?

  • Hi, first of all thanks for these tutorials, they're great!

I have a question though: you remove the mss function from

    $pass = mss($_POST['password']);

I'm trying trying to learn something about PHP security and I didn't really understand why you removed the security, could you explain it?

    Thanks!

  • I don't apply security on it because it could alter the actual password the user is entering. Since I encrypt it in the end, the users password will be the same from when they submitted it.

  • lol you added hd in discription... to watch hd(if there is) then add &fmt=18 to the link so its

    /watch?v=J7PZVVZHPdI&fmt=18

  • how many people post tutorial on this same youtube id???

  • dude... thanks so much help.... is there anyway you can send me the script for this... I cant really tell what some of the characters are. I just used your registration tutorial... it worked, I had to parentheses *(sp?) all of the values for it to work right- little bit of trial and error. But otherwise it was spot on. I subbed... looking forward to more demo vids...

but please like i said.... CAN YOU SEND ME THIS SCRIPT????

  • What is with all the tool bars he has installed in Firefox?

  • damn look how his voice changes lol watch his user registration video and ull see wat im talking about...good video though

  • look at line 60 mayb a spelling error or sumthin like that

  • There aren't any spelling issues. Could it be possible that 'uid' was never defined? I am not using PHPmyadmin to make my databases. I am using my own server. Could that be why? What is the['uid'] anyway?

  • $_SESSION['uid'] so 'uid' is the name of the session you dum bum..

the database sends the user id to the session.

If The User ID exists.. "Welcome"

    If not.. "Please Login"

  • @whitneyshoaf

yaa..i got this issues too, no uid in users database, but change it to username it works but i cant change all the code uid to username since it will affect whole page...so how to solve it?? arrggghh....is it proble, with PHP myadmin version???

  • I am continuously having trouble with the following code: if($_SESSION['uid']){

    $sql="SEELECT * FROM `users` WHERE `id`='".$_SESSION['uid']."'";

    $res = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());

It comes up with the error that

Notice: Undefined index: uid on line 60.

Ideas for help on this would be appreciated.

  • lol When I was using XP SP3, I never got this problem.

When I moved to Vista.. I got this problem.. then I was like wtf.. so I changed it to:

    if(isset($_SESSION['uid'])){

    code here...

    }

  • where i can download those files...that you have created in video. ....i really needed to integrate into my website...

    Please.....

  • Very good skills with PHP but I couldn't help but have a giggle with your JS attempt :)

  • Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/deospeon/public_html/forums/login.php on line 27

Sorry, The Username and Password are incorrect!

    Help?

  • where did you learn php?

what a programm did you use on this video for recording

  • your HD videos squeak and skip, :( and the sound is faster than the picture.

  • which video comes after this one?

  • While this code will work, there are many reasons why code should not be written in this way. Look into object-oriented programming (google: PHP classes and do some general background research on object-oriented programming). Once you start writing object-oriented code you will find that you have to write much less code when you come to change aspects of your site in the future. it's well worth it. Drop me a message on here if you want to know more.

  • With OOP you still have to write out the error checking in the class and it's really just use to keep everything cleaner.

  • Well, with OOP you wouldn't have just one class to do this. The main advantage of OOP is that it encapsulates and allows you to hide data and functionality which reduces the coupling between units of code. Of course, you still have to write the code, but by writing object-oriented code you will find pretty quickly that changes to your system take less time. Agreed, OOP is cleaner, but its strengths go much deeper than that, and it's certainly preferable to procedural code.

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to undermine your tutorial - I think it's great that you're helping to make web development more accessible to newcomers, but it is crucially important that people who are looking to write their own code learn and develop good coding practice. It's all about making code more secure, intuitive and maintainable.

  • I understand, but OOP isn't for the newcomers. IMO teach them simple coding that can breach far.

  • I would disagree myself, since OOP can simplify all aspects of programming. The basic principle takes a little getting used to - you're thinking about things, not actions - but once you get your head around that it really is a lot more straightforward than trying to write algorithms that or two or three hundred lines long. Furthermore, you need to learn best practice from day 1. Anyways, that's my opinion. This is your tutorial. But the guy said he was new and I offered help.

  • fuck you lol jk

  • Hi this video is not visible perfect source code, so please make another video clip for visible with big letters.

    thank U

  • check the description...

  • Don't help the user too much. Giving them specific error messages such as "The user does not exist." is bad for security. Just tell them that the username/password combination is wrong, then they have no idea whether or not the username they're trying to hack even exists.

  • This is very a great tut but i got a problem with mysql :"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '=''' at line 1" uhhhh:-/ any suggestions?

  • minor blunder. fixed it:)

  • My "mss" function does this. Plus if the password is going to be encrypted before checking it in the database there is definitely no need to use the function on it

  • im getting this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/rsman/public_html/forum/login.php on line 26

    and line 26 says:

    if(mysql_num_rows($res) > 0){

what do i need to do?

  • please can you upload login.php and send me the link?

  • Hmmm, system is not allowing to post the whole source.

    :-(

  • Hello Marcus,

I am getting an ERROR messege, "Username and Password combination are incorrect!".

I followed the registration tutorial and have no problems in that part, register.php as a whole working well.

I tried login.php on my website's mysql database and on the TESTING mysql (as localhost) and on both occasions I got the same error.

could you please let me know where should I look for the MISTAKE?

Any advice/suggestion will be a great help!

    Thanks.

  • Make sure in your login.php you have this $sql2 = "SELECT id FROM `users` WHERE `username`='".$user."' AND `password`='".md5($pass)."'";

The md5 encryption needs to be taken off to compare the values.

  • Hi Irish ...

The following source is the current one I am having, if you can have a look into the thing maybe you will find the error ... because I really don't see it.

    :-P

I will post the whole thing in 4 or 5 consecutive post.

  • echo "You have successfully logged in as" . $user; }else { echo "Username and Password combination are incorrect!\n"; } }else { echo "The username you supplied does not exist!\n"; } }else { echo "You must supply both the username and password field!\n"; } } } ?>
  • Shouldn't use variable names such as $sql1 and $sql2. It's not good coding practice since it doesn't make for intuitive code. In fact, you shouldn't be hard-coding SQL at all, but there you go.

  • hi! can not speak english!

can you give me the serial number for php designer 2008?

i downloaded a keygen for php designer 2008 but i can not find the serial number! can you help me please?

    thanks

  • Hello.... can you make a tut about upload files.. and download it?... i mean. if my friend go to my site. he can upload hes work and then i can download it from my site. Thank you

  • I know how to do that :)

  • you should clean your sessions before you put them into a query, using a raw session variable makes your app vulnerable to SQL injections. You clean sessions by converting them into regular variables.

  • That was a dumb comment. Sessions can't be edited by the user, only the script. You should learn your PHP before trying to insult mine :)

  • The syntax used for session variables is different from that of normal variables. The syntax makes them more vulnerable to user inputted attempts at SQL injections.

  • You're making no sense at all. I define the UID session with the information inside the database, not what they submitted.

  • i subscribed

  • this is the greatest tut ever.

  • Nice job man. Learning alot from all of your videos. THANKS

  • Thanks, glad you learned something :)

  • How about anti flood?

  • nice video man i learnt alot from it .. can u make a video on php OOP

  • whats table?

  • Thanx, now can I make my own forum in PHP :D

  • you are one bad ass script kiddie dude, nice work

  • thanks :D

  • I have coded exactly what u showed on video. But I keep getting a error that I can login with test user name but when I come back to main page, it does not give welcome message. I wonder why.

  • do you have your database set up

  • yes, I do. There is not any database problems.

  • Programming languages look so interesting. I just dunno' where to start. /sadface

  • sir do you have your own website?

  • Yes I do.

  • the Welcome "Name", do u have the code? Thx..

  • yar, do u have the code? thx

  • WHOA thats very good!!~ anyway how did u done that Welcome text thing? the code is...?

  • Thanks, what welcome text thing?

  • but I cat not see ehat do you srite :(

  • good video

  • Thanks :)

  • great, but how do i have users emails and passwords auto-emailed to me using php or html from a website. what adjustments would you make in the source code?

  • It seems you want to gain peoples information, I'm not going to do that.

  • Good stuff.. this particular vid helped me out on a hangup with trying to utilize sessions for another purpose..

Keep up the good work :-)

  • Thanks :D

  • I saw at the end when you logged in that it said "Welcome Back," then their username. Shouldn't you change that to echo out the name that they filled in for safety?

  • what?

  • I mean like at the end of the video you deleted the user Marcus because you couldn't remember the password. You then went back to the register.php page and recreated it.

Well you had an input box with the name "username" and one named "with like your name"

well on the index page you have it displaying the users username instead of their real name.

If this doesn't make sense I'll post a video trying to explain what I'm talking about.

  • EDIT:

Well you had an input box with the name "username" and one named "name"

    Sorry

  • Will you please delete my comments. Thanks

  • Dangit beat me to it, I was going to do a forum TUT.

  • Oh yeah, forgot, great tutorial.

  • Thanks :D

  • :p I forgot who suggested it.
