  • hi

  • Where can i see the actual footage?

  • awesome

  • can you use a real police department in your film and have actors act as real police for that police department or would you need a permit first? same for a public high school, can you use a real public high school and display their logo and have actors act as students or would you need a permit?

  • sense not sence

  • What is the benefit of having the camera operator on the crane? It seems like it would be much more efficient to have just the camera mounted to a remote pan/tilt on it and then the crane could be much smaller for the same job.

  • God, I had to turn the sound off. I hate Motley Crue,

  • eargasm

  • THE BIG RED ONE! my favourite does it use CMOS?

  • am a filmmaker from accra-ghana and i will really like to get in touch with technical crew and the production house on this location. from israel: israeldzramedo@yahoo.com

  • shit music.

  • One thing I would like to see on DVDs is behind the scenes of lighting - the dp goes through and explains a few scenes and shows the light setup

  • @profoundpictures2010 me too i would like to learn more on how the setup every thing behind scenes shooting movies music videos ect..

  • How about giving the guy sitting on a crane at the back of the car a helmet!?!?!

  • @nandocuca cause those things have seatbelts, he doesnt need a helmet

  • This camera looks pretty cool!!

    Stuntman7545

    JBH-FILMS

  • im getting a orgasm

  • veryannoying with all the black frames in the film.. but good video!

  • $20 K Camera? Amazing

  • @tcpnet

Then another $20,000 if you want all of the lenses, another $2000 if you want the power pack, another $1000 if you want the protective case to put it in, and the list goes on and on. It's crazy how much it would cost with all the accessories like the one in this video has.

  • @thebest545 Beats the 75k initial price of its competitors...

  • @thebest545 shyt iz expensive that's all i have to say about

  • I can only ever dream of having one of those :( hopefully in the future

  • the best music in the world with the best camera ever!

just want the crane on the pick up!

  • @SteezyyDeezyy no u can get a red sensor for $17,500 and within 6 months u should be able to get one for under 5 grand

  • @b2dmastersniper the biggest sensor for 75 grand 27,000p

  • @SteezyyDeezyy whats 27,000p? what currency, srry i duno lol

  • @b2dmastersniper thats the resolution, the most expensive "brains"

  • the camera u see in the first few clips, serial number 0007 is worth over $200,000 now

  • @b2dmastersniper just cuz its #7?

  • here you get this footage?

i take it your american? im scottish and im only 12 but im into film making and directing. any tips?

  • how much do a red one costs?

  • just visit their site...body (US$11,000), lens plus other accesories will set you to about (US$20,000)

  • @AdoniteInkStudio no the body is 17,500

  • There will be 2 RED SCARLET versions, one with a fixed lens (+-4750 USD) and a version that will only be a body (+-2750 USD) and individual lenses for +-900 each (called RED mini-primes)

  • We love the Red One. We wrapped a feature shooting on it. Amazing images and great workflow!! See clips from our previous films shot the old fashioned way on our channel!

  • I can't afford this, but I can afford the Canon 7D. It has great DOF and high ISO. Is better than the Canon 5D because it shoots real 29.97 and 60fps 720. It's going to give the RED 3k (which I totally respect and envy) a good run for it's money.

  • yes! Canons Eos Cameras are already starting to catch up in quality. The 5DM2 and 7D are being used as B and C roll cameras for Red cam involved productions.

Do a search for canons new demo made by Vincent Laforett*. it's called Nocturn. Shot with their new Canon 1DM4, it's only $5K and a lot smaller than bulky red.

Perfect for people who have to get back to their real jobs after filmming.

  • well resolution actually still a far way off. Red shoots at 4K (4480x1920) whereas 1DM4 shoots at HD (1920x1080). remember, when you take both footage and project it at the theatre you'd see the difference.

also many other factors with the 1DM4, such as its difficulty to hold and focus, no manual control of aperture, shutter or iso, image degrades due to heat over time, no xlr inputs, etc etc.

  • I'm not doubting you, but wouldn't you see the difference when 5D footages are used in a red one production or film productin such as George Clooneys Up in the Air film?

  • And also, about 90 percent of red cam produced videos wont see theatrical run except maybe festivals.

I shot a short film on a dvx100 and when projected, it look GREAT! I was surprised. So I'm not all that convinced about the need for 4k, especially since the 5D sensor is the size of 35mm film frames.

$2k DSLR vs. a $30k+ red with all accessories to make it functional, could pay for an entire indie film itself.

The bad part about DSLRs is rolling shutter.

  • I use a 7D and am working on a demo project with it right now. It's amazing for the price, but the RED Scarlet (3K) will have higher quality recording with RED raw and awesome lenses. That being said, I am perfectly content with my 7D for the amazing image quality and film like picture control, plus the true 1080p24 recording.

  • It was my understanding the Scarlet will have a fixed lens. That's one option you lose with the lower price model. (if it ever gets here)

  • No, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have fixed lenses. Where did you here that from?

  • CrunchGear mentions that it will be an all-in-one camera with a fixed zoom lens.

  • ..Are you seriously saying Vegas is better than FCP?... Seriously dude? come on man...

  • you have got to be kidding me

  • I have had no problems with RED in FCP, now since FCP 7 supports it. It's this generations style of filmmaking & approach to production that will make the "film world" obsolete. We must adapt to a new way of shooting & producing them. It doesn't have to be as expensive & it doesn't have to take as long. That's what Digital Cinema advocates are bringing to the table. There are those opposed to change similar to the response to 'sound' & 'color' in film. We just need to be willing to explore.

  • I fully understand what your saying. What about those of us who have spent years in theAvid platform, and invested large sums of money in Avid based workflows? I'm really excited about the direction digital cinema is taking, I'm just saying as of this very moment, it is still surpassed by film in terms of image quality and adaptability. The Epic may yet change this and as times go by and R3D becomes an accepted standard things can only get better. This is coming from an experienced Red operator.

  • super fast cam...

  • RED Digital Cinema is the future of this industry. The audience doesn't care what format we should on. Why should we? RED Camera greatly surpasses ALL previous digital filmmaking. It resembles film greatly, and even surpasses it in some areas. The colors are vibrant, the d.o.p. is breathtaking, and it's ability to work in Final Cut Studio is fantastic. The future is in Digital, people. You either jump on the band wagon, or get left behind. Times, they are a'changin.'

  • You are EXACTLY right!

    GO DIGITAL!!!!!

  • i somewhat-ish agree with you. but you said "the d.o.p. is breathtaking". just btw a d.o.p. is a director of photography as in a person. you could say the cinematography is breathtaking. but yeah you've got some points

  • Oh, my fowl up. I meant to say cinematography. I guess I almost said something a little compromising there, haha

  • yeah, like you just decided to tell everyone you've got the hots for the director of photography haha

  • Although I agree you have some great points my friend, nothing beats 35mm. I've shot and directed on every camera, every format out there and not only does film provide more leeway but there's a great difference psychologically in the way you approach your process with a limited film stock. It ups your game greatly rather then having endless amounts of space for useless takes. When you hear the tick tick of a film camera you are so damn focused. Plus, film continues to advance like the red.

  • DoP? I sincerely hope you mean DoF. The Red does resemble film somewhat, but it is yet to surpass it. The Arri & Panavision film cameras are still used in the majority of big budget productions, the Red still teething problems: it's dynamic range can't match film; it has a difficult workflow when paired with Avid offline editing suites; and also there are issues when exposing under tungsten lighting and noise in the blue channel. I love Red; it isn't yet the death of film though.

  • Director of Photography, I meant to say was really great. Sort of a shout out. But yes, the depth of field was excellent as well.

  • that was interesting. i want to work on films like that one day.

  • That's not a film.

  • @dvaifilmsdotcom i feel the same way

  • The RED Camera The One To Get!

  • you most know that the video is not shot on a red camera, the video shows the crew testing the camera. this is not a red camera footage:)

  • Comment removed

  • 17,5k

  • this is a video of the camera

  • adding to Globalscreenstudios post in regards to thegoosebrain's post. . .

and if it was, it would have been degraded by encoding it for the web some, then by the way youtube host videos. even if you were watching it in HD (if that even works, since it never does for me!). . .

RED is an excellent cam, and I can't wait to get my hands on one. . .

  • you are right:)

youtube has a problem with the HD function but it works some time, you just have to wait for a long time....

that the reason to i often use vimeo..

  • you think they have this test shoot on the tube somewhere? and if so where? id like to see how it came out using the red cam

  • whats the name of the song?

  • I think it's Kickstart my heart...

  • Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crew (1989 Dr. Feelgood Album)

  • I agree this video is completely pointless. I want footage from the camera, not of it!

  • The title does say "behind the scenes" not "FOOTAGE OF RED"... plus why would you want to see footage of the RED on youtube? That would be completly pointless. You make no sence...

  • The title does say "behind the scenes" not "FOOTAGE OF RED"... plus why would you want to see footage of the RED on youtube? That would be completly pointless. You make no sence...

  • "plus why would you want to see footage of the RED on youtube? That would be completly pointless. You make no sence... "

    Agreed.

  • i completely agree red footage on youtube would be kinda pointless...its nice to see how poeple are shooting with RED...good video

  • that looks like fuN! i wonder how ppl compare the red camera to the f900 ?

  • i agree this video was a waste, as much fun as it seems i'd much rather have watched some more footage from it, this doesn't show jack shit jsut that it can be on a crane and what not

  • he used an hvx200 to shoot this with fagets

  • are you retarded?

  • See the Peter Jackson evaluation, location New Zealand, Vintage War Aircraft doing business. It's staggering.

  • This video was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!!!! Obviously you can mount the camera on a crane or on the ground, how about showing some footage from it. For all I know, it was just a shell with different lenses. Really, Really, unimpressive. Nobody wants to see someone using it, they want to see it work. If I put a $1,000 to $1,500 deposit down on something that no one has seen for real, I want to see it action. You might as well have been using a VX2000 instead of red.

  • Man, that looks like you all had FAR too much fun!

Can't wait to see what the Red footage from your day looks like :o)

  • Can someone tell me what song that is???

  • Kickstart my Heart by Mötley Crüe from their album Dr.Feelgood

  • This is so exciting. I'd love to be on that set.

  • Been following Red since the day Ted dropped the first hint. Really great to see behind the scenes.I'd even settle to see the 2K version! Awesome!

  • I just heard that the latest hot thing in Hollywood is to shoot movies with retro late 70s early 80s camcorders - for real - I read that Quentin Tarantino bought about a hundred JVC GR-A1Us and he and about 5 other big directors are shooting their next movies in that format.

  • Excellent! Forget the cost of 35mm production, Red is better in many ways and costs waaay less.

So glad I plunked down the cash for two of them, delivery in December and available for rent!

Located in Canada but also will rent to the US.

click on my name and send me a message if you are interested.

  • FYI: This video now available on iPhone YouTube as well.

  • oh ya!!!

  • awesome job guys!!!!! great behind the scenes thank you

  • But I thought it was vaporware?

NOT!!! ....Keith Walters is a ponce!!! Give my best to Notso Brighton

  • Congratulations on the early order!

I want one of those... RED´s...
