  • the theater isnt in my spirit, and he sounds like morgan freeman!

  • damn nigger didn't say anything usefull.

  • man , they are all going to be reeeaaaly bad actors at the end of this

  • @aldegebra777 looool

  • His voice reminds me a little bit of Morgan Freeman

  • He's teaching you the deeper spiritual meaning of acting. This is probably what most people aren't looking for but it at least goes every way that you do in acting.

  • Acting is about being believable.. thats it

  • He could be speaking the truth or falsehood, who the hell knows he is too good of an actor

  • i like this guy'' i wish he would be my teacher...he made me understand so much

  • what nonsense. he's talking in circles, and misleading his students. Nothing about this was clear or specific.

  • this is GREAT!! thanks sooo much for posting!!!

  • he sounds like a homeless man... why isnt he a leading character in movies wonder

  • @limyyo Some people do not want that

  • He is teaching reckless meaning of acting not any techniques so he is not doing his job properly as a teacher

  • these are spiritual advices, not business ones ...so stop being dissapointed and just listen to the man ..if u care about deeper meanings and visions on acting :)

  • as an actor this is bullshit! You can find better teachers!

  • Dude is dumb

  • @TheBitchinRiggins whatt r u guys serious??

  • GoodBye Drama! Hello I don't give a shit

  • This is bullshit...

  • For some reason i suddenly changed my career path from business to acting a couple of days ago. So i looked up act lessons and this is what i came to so here i am. I know this is still to post this question on youtube but, I'm 20 and have no experience in acting, any advice anyone?

  • @Youngminded4eva at your level, you should get involved with one of your community theater plays/musicals. There, you can learn how theater works and if you want to further yourself in that career path. Some people think they are good enough to just go into a professional career but believe me, you get so much experience doing volunteer plays. And if your not thinking of live theater as your job choice (movies, tv shows) i suggest the same thing. many actors have done live theater at least once.

  • the acting corps

  • Wow .... Inspiring

  • I'D LOVE TO BE IN HIS CLASS

  • kind of classes like that makes me extremely sad for them :(

  • This guy is is poorly educated; mark the word 'Insignificannence' .It should have bee insignificant.

He also has a tangential speech.

Sounds confused to me this nigger.

    M Khan

  • @mkmd555

    NO

  • If anybody here is a serious actor, could you please help me out!! I really want to get into film but i don't know anyone in the biz...so i have to make it on pure talent. any tips, lessons (or connections) would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

  • @GodsGlamGirl1 I assume you're already part of your school's drama programme, or after-school theatre class? That's the place to start, looking at your age, if you're not already. You could join your local community theatre group or join a reputable acting class or do both of those things. Then once you finish high school you can audition to go to acting school. There are some very good ones that specialise in screen acting and some that do a mixture of screen and theatre techniques. Good luck.

  • He knows acting.

    No question.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Favorite Character Actors of All Time: 1. Samuel L. Jackson 2. Christopher Walken 3. Michael Shannon 4. Steve Buscemi 5. Tom Cruise 6. Harvey Keitel 7. J.T. Walsh 8. John Malkovich 9. William H. Macy 10. R. Lee Ermey
  • Thank you for sharing this video. I have not taken any acting classes so I am very new to all of this. I've never had an interest in acting until very recently but it is so interesting to me now.

  • thnk you buddy

  • PLEASE SHARE THIS VIDEO AS I AM TRYING TO GET A LOT OF HITS ON YOUTUBE. This is my acting demo reel, GO TO MY CHANNEL AND CHECK IT OUT

  • This guy is what we call 'living the life of The Actor'

  • Trusted women Online **busizz4me.info**

  • this is mental retardation

  • 3:46 when he says fire the second time, it sounded like Denzel Washington. lol

  • Baby, what did you learn today? ^^

  • The man is teaching some fine points of acting. If you are willing to get up off your U know what and brave the stage in front of an audience you can appreciate what he is teaching.

  • does anyone else think his voice sounds like Morgan Freeman?

  • @EpalBoyz YES!!

  • Watch my 'Happy Sad' vid for a perfect display of how to act happy or sad. Forward it on to other budding actors!

  • Wow, a lot of ignorant comments here. Acting is like any other artistic talent, you may be born with the gift of a particular art whether it be singing, acting, playing the piano, drawing, etc. but it's one thing being good at what you do and even great, and it's totally another being a MASTER of your craft. Someone who was born with a talent can just as well go forward in life without any training, but actually being a master of your craft takes discipline, dedication, and humility.

  • @visionarylove

What were the ignorant comments you're talking about?

  • He is obviously brilliant himself, smart, preacher like, he knows what he is TALKING about. Can he really train you? Can he make/build an actor from you? That I don't know. You have to see the result. A student of his.

  • Genius.

  • i think he is talking about wiseness . About that an actor has to be spiritual and work with the energy of his body.He is saying that beautiful here because he is a wise man himself!

  • FUCKISLAM

  • @ihateislam786 your coarse language is the result of ignorance my friend. What do you actually think..of this man's teaching? Stretch your mind!

  • I love this video, which encompasses the spiritual journey in acting. I Will share it with my actors, thank you! Tula Tzoras

  • @TulaTzoras We are spiritual beings TulaTzoras. He touches on Shakespeare without mentioning him. Shakespeare was always emphasizing words. Words bring life and motivate or de-motivate you. SCRIPTS are words! Study words and then you will be able to express acting through words. What he is teaching is quite elementary. Basic acting in a community college course. I wonder who he has taught in the past? Hopkins? Cage? Julia Roberts? NYC if filled with teachers and famous actors who study.

  • this looks like a cult

  • @magicalpedifilerobot That is just a statement. What do you mean specifically? How much training have you actually had in acting in order to make a statement such as that? Have you studied Stanislavski? Meisner?Alexander Technique? If you have then I think you would be able to pick something out of what he is saying and use it for your career.

  • Who is this guy? I don't even care what he has to say..

  • @MattTrevett But why dont you care? Maybe the students or others care. Just because a person doesn't readily understand someone or their teaching does not give them the right to write them off. Who is this guy? Have you searched his website? Asked him what in the world are you all about? Acting is about asking questions. About the script, the writer, the character you are playing, it starts like when we are born. When we are born we begin a journey. Likewise, the character we play is as well.

  • @davidactorone I don't care because what he's saying is, for the most part, complete rubbish.

  • What he's saying makes sense to me and is consistent with what I have learned from other highly respected actors and teachers. He is not being practical and dull but is speaking to the artist in the actor, to the poet in the actor, and to the imagination of the actor, which is essential. Talk of technique can discourage some but can inspire the truly committed and disciplined actor.

  • @elrodalta Disciplined and Commited. Those words are accurate elrodalta. Look up new actors workshop. It is quite a website and gives a complete review and view of what they teach! Learning to be an actor is extremely exciting and exhausting, therefore we should look for exactly what technique and what teacher fits our perspective spiritually, mentally and physically. The emotions are molded by the 3. :)

  • Why is this guy imitating Morgan Freeman? Must have watched alot of his movies.... LOL bunch of crap

  • @unseensword now..for you to compare him to Morgan Freeman,..is a tremendous complement. Have you studied the career of Morgan Freeman? It is quite an inspiration. Are you a director/teacher/actor? What have you studied of late? What he is "touching " upon has its roots in Shakespeare. The 21st Century is out of tune when it comes to Shakespeare. We want instant acting. No Patience. I suggest you look for a teacher that inspires you and challenges you. :)

  • nice one!

  • U cant say fire , fire lmao

  • this seems more like a spoof..no fuckin way this guy is serious

  • BULLLLLLLLLLLLLSHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • Jesus Christ, I never thought acting classes would be like this ? lol I thought it would just be practicing different roles and genres, and learning how to interact. Also learning how to do different facial expressions that work on the mood. But I guess this works too

  • Yeah, what a crock of shit! Hey, look! acting is in your fingers!

  • Those of you who are saying you "either have it or you don't", that's a load of crap. Any one can act. As with anything, some people are better than others. However, anyone can learn if they are willing to listen and apply what they learn. In the case of people who don't get any better, more than likely they are going to quack or unqualified teachers (see above video), or its the actor's own inability to be coached, and their inability to listen. In the second case its the actor's own fault.

  • 3:30-3:38 "Your voice and your pronouncing is coming out of the blood and the imagination and intelligence." This is way too broadly generalized to be any use to an actor. Contradictory to what he said on 0:17 about acting being specific, his explanation of what acting and voice is makes no sense. It comes from the "blood"? The "intelligence"?

  • This is mostly BS.

  • well he reallly doesnt teach you anything about acting

  • Thurman E. Scott is the REAL DEAL. One of the very few teachers on the craft of acting who knows what he is talking about. I agree not only with what he is saying but where it's coming from. Where is it coming from? From an authentic human being - rare in this day and age. Thank you for sharing Thurman. Not only of giving your expertise on the craft of acting but also for giving of yourself. Thank you ... Peter Sardi Melbourne Australia.

  • specificity ... woa, now that's specific .... I like the finger-thing though

  • that guy is good actor my favorite roll he play's is being a retard haha!!!

  • this is why i dont taking acting classes, but want to act

  • @jfar8504 You could get a video camera, film yourself doing stuff, reading parts, playing roles, whatever... you could teach yourself to act that way and check out the videos and interviews with great actors like Marlon Brando etc. Cheers and good luck

  • Those who can,......do

    Those who can't.......teach

A lot of this is absurd nonsense - save your money.

  • i like what he's saying...i think he has a point...he's a true artist

  • Haha, wow, such bullshit. What a croc of shit this guys trying to pass on these people. waste of time and money.

  • This dude is a fucking fruit cake lol pretty entertaining and you can't help but watch him so I guess he is right

  • New Actors & Aspiring Actors Video Sharing Social Network

The link is in my channel or just Search "How's My Acting" on Google.

  • I'm Sexy just like you<333 I hope you check out my videos!!

    Do you see potential?

    ~SeliendaSmiles~

  • Excellent and Inspirational. Right on point!

  • what a load of wanK! been a drama feacher for years and never seen such tosh!!

  • You only need to be able to replace yourself with a completely different person. Occasionally you get lucky and obtain a role in which the character is very much like yourself.

  • Like 95% of acting teachers, he's full of shit! intentionally vague and artsy bullshit!

  • Please tell me: How does one know if they can act?

  • Comment removed

  • I wanna act.

  • Those who can't do, teach.

  • what is that supposed to mean

  • We're looking for actors for this YouTube channel. Audition through Video Responses

  • not screen acting- to "big" in expression

  • Hi I'm Danielle and I just put up an audition video for abc family's new show huge I hope yall check it out and please rate if you can. Yall who check out my video thank u so much :)

  • lol @ musichopper I was trying to figure out who he reminds me of. Morgan Freeman! that's it!

  • The only thing dumber than this man would be anyone who pays him. Good God.

  • I agree, but a lot of acting teachers are like that.

  • He is philosophical , it takes an abstract understanding to grasp what he is teaching.

  • @insightforlife Nonsense. A poor defence of a poor teacher. People want to believe that this type of vague artsy bullshit, is the essence of acting; it is not. The fact that he teaches nothing of real value here, still stands.

  • @monkeypissyellow For a teacher who talks about “being specific,” he sure isn’t. I also hate absolutes, like the “hands” thing. Jeez. The point of “taking life in” has nothing to do with the position of your hands. In fact, energy moving outwardly from the hands can be an interesting choice. The “bullshit” meter rang loud and clear on that one.

  • @monkeypissyellow Exactly

  • **How's My Acting** was started for aspiring actors who want to share their monologues or any other acting performances they may have.

It's free by the way. If you want to join, the website is in my channel or you can Search "Hows My Acting" on Google.

  • Lol- Musichopper

  • krazypete yes i agree with you on that

  • musichopper because he's a leader he leads that organization

  • This is terrible. I do believe he's talking out of his ass. I don't like this. This is actually demotivating. It's all talk and then more talk. I'm old enough to know this is well intended but it's really a waste of your time and money. You either have it or not. Acting is about being real and having others believe that which you believe. Credibility... being natural. Forget all this bullshit!

  • i understand cuz u can talk really good but if u dont look it like being scared its about motions and what not its about looking natural at something and not look like ur acting but talk is helpful..and i agree with u

  • @euforiaz7 Amen! Acting is about forgetting yourself and focusing entirely on the mind and feelings of the character that you pretend to be... it's not something you achieve by peptalk and forced action

  • @euforiaz7 you know acting is being fake and real

  • @euforiaz7 acting is doing

    what he is doing, talking

  • @euforiaz7 yeah you right ! man this is bull shit!! my acting class is much better than this we dont talk so much shit .. we act !! he talks too much !

  • Comment removed

  • @bq552 Absolutely!!!!

  • @euforiaz7 are you a working fully paid famous award winning actor? I doubt it. He is an award winner with a HUGE following. If this was all bullshit he wouldnt be as successful as he is.

  • @euforiaz7 of coourse its all talk! he cant just be moving all around leaving us wondering what hes trying to convey

  • @MissKatRob Please expound upon your comment. I am interested. Have you critiqued or compared his teaching to others? What sort of training have you had? Meisner? Alexander? Stanislavski? I am intriqued.

  • @davidactorone If your trying to be a smart ass than please lay off! By what I said the other day, i meant he needs to say alot in order for us to know what were supposed to do. And I know that there are alot of times where you dont need to talk but there are also a ton where you do. He cant just stand around waving his arms all day! No hard feelings tho! (:

  • You are entitled to your opinion. Each of us are. But profanity is not the answer. Acting is about others not us. It is communication, but much more than that. It must be specific because it is scripted. What have you tried? Meisner, Alexander Tech? Or perhaps Stanislavski. Study what Anothony Hopkins or Nick Cage have studied. Find out what challenges you! What sparks that inner talent., that gift you live with each day. Some methods work, others do not. Actors are ALL wired differently!

  • @euforiaz7i think you those of you who have nothin but negative things to say about this video obviously do not understand the keys to a successful journey and will remain bitter and angry. This is a very inspirational speech.go do your hw and find the "tools" for scene analysis.Don't Expect YOUTUBE to Provide that for you.

  • @arnyzy4 what are you talking about, its fucking retarded

  • @euforiaz7 So are you telling me if you were teaching a group of people the 1st thing you would tell them is "you either have it or you don't"? That's a bad attitude. Acting is like all arts. Practice and you will succeed

  • @euforiaz7 totally

  • @euforiaz7 I agree with your assessment of this video, but I don't agree with "you either have it or not". Acting is a skill you can develop just like any other skill. Anyone can develop that skill. It's not "you either have it or not".

  • Why is he all talkin like Morgan Freeman?

  • So essentially... raise your pitch and volume slightly on the end of every phrase. Guess Walken is a shit actor then.

  • He's right but confused.. thus making this video confusing. nobody can teach you how to act, they can only train you to unleash your "talent" at a specific time.. the best acting teachers are the best actors.

  • yeah this guy is all books and theory, and great language skills, but he keeps his self clouded and pretentious in order to keep the air, he can bewilder and perplex many minds. beware, hes is extreme in charm, and understanding, but no practicality.

  • monkeypissyellow right on, anyone could come up with crap like this. It's like watching some religious cult leader. Just nonsensical word blur.

  • I started acting this year and have done quite well. I have been told I am fairly natural, but I'd like to train.

Problem is; when I watch things like this it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. not only that, it puts me off! Why is actor training so vague and 'fluffy'? acting coaches seem to be intentionally mystical and 'Zen master' like. It really does seem like a load of bollocks. How much can be taught? and how much is just there in the first place?

  • i agree i think he should win the actors 2010 teacher or leader or at least come in second i think a lot of beihnd the secenes actors would like this and some of those that are actors and aren't famous in fact i recommend this to them

  • he's brilliant and it's quite clear exactly what he's talking about if you've ever read any strasberg or meisner or stanislavksy or anything good. He's also quite vulnerable to his students and in the moment throughout the exercise, instructing as well as doing - it's fantastic.

  • persia he's talking about what acting is and other stuff about acting

  • This guy is actually quite brilliant. You can't really judge him by extracting one or two comments and taking them out of context with his overall philosophy. Brilliant people can easily be mistaken as idiots, it's a fine line. He does offer some great insight to the state of purpose for the actor on stage. I'd take his class.

  • @DYTWhite DYTWhite, davidactorone here. At last! A man with insight. Yes, you cannot judge him by EXTRACTING one or two comments. It is like when you read a line in a script..you "lift" it out of the page and analyze it . Pick it apart and if it still doesnt make sense ask why! Brilliant people yes..can be mistaken. We make mistakes. It is a fine line. It is all about an open mind and heart. How badly do you want to be an actor! Study Shakespeare! He was Brilliant.

  • He's way to much into himself check his website, u have to freaking read some of his essays before u get interviewed. but what happens his background is not that impressive, what have you done Mr. Scott. can u back it up.

  • ShelterDogs , well, you are right.

  • I really hate being negative, but...!

This guy, although i'm sure is very well educated and has a lot of knowledge about the art of acting - is goiing about it in the wrong way.

He is trying too hard to be an 'act-or'. As in - he is trying to live up to what he imagines an expert acting coach to be

  • ...This guy is talking one load of shit

  • Can anybody tell me WHAT the FUCK this guy is talking about, ? Blazing fire ?

  • those guys are going to be movie actors.

  • gianluigi, you think so? Very very hard to be successful as an actor... even with training like this. Most actors struggle. I wonder how many quit after the first year of trying to make it some how... whether it's a stage actor or behind the camera.

  • depends what you judge as successful a lot of the actors can at least land something, even if it's extremely small they'll eventually work their way up if you keep trying.

  • I'm sorry but this man just rambles on in what to me in his own mind is a poetic manner but in reality he just enjoys listening to the sound of his own voice The whole fingers thing and telling students thats how you take life in and comparing speaking to fire I mean come on seriously It's so depressing to be a young actor because all the great teachers of Stanislavski's vision are gone Adler, Hagen, Meisner these are the great teachers of acting and there genius will never be known again

  • kinda sounds like dave chapelle lol awsome trainer though =D

  • This is the most inspiring video.

  • Total bullshit and gobbldegook

  • what rubbish!

  • New Anamated band hit the streets! We called Tokyo Cruch House! Check it!

  • wow, someone paying to be a teacher.

  • what the hell????

  • AMAZING !

  • lmao he sounds like Morgan Freeman

  • Comment removed

  • By him saying that 2 individuals of the same ethnicity sound alike is in no way saying everyone of that ethnicity sounds the same

so that was kind of a foolish comment...

anyway this guy does sound like Morgan Freeman....

just compare them and see for yourself

  • Ha ha, He does sound like Morgan Freeman.

I came away from this video with a feeling of bemusement.

  • @AbbyStabby what is that because he is black??? I don't think he sounds like him...different tone.

  • @MissVeganite what is this because abby is white???

  • @AbbyStabby YO! haha I was thinkn the same damn thing

  • @DCaple0013 what is that? Please explain your statement. Actors are or should be individuals. Not yes men/women. We are unique. Are you an actor/teacher/performer? If so I am open to discuss this video. honestly.

  • fingers huh...lol

this is a load of trash

  • i don't think you understand what he's trying to achieve. in order for your inner life to be externalized in a truthful manner, one needs to allow your own body to test the limits of their expression. he's not saying you move your fingers that way during a scene or that that itself is acting. it's a physicality exercise that gets you in touch with your instrument. perhaps moving your fingers that way evoke a sense of sexuality in you which you can incorporate into your work.

  • does have a link to a good online acting video series, preferbly free?like youtube clips?coz there is not much or even nothing good on youtube and ive been looking for months now.or is there another network simular to youtube you know of that does have good acting videos?please help me out, thanks everyone ;) reply here or email me cheers

  • Jesus Christ, this is absolute garbage.

  • he telling them anything to get they cash...he sukssssss
