Good vid. Fossil fuels are the reason our country's way of life has dramatically improved over the last 70+ years. We need more nuclear energy, it has no greenhouse gas emissions and will provide a LOT more energy than a useless wind farm or a swath of solar panels out in the desert. Liberal environmentalism is a joke.
I agree with most of what you say, but from a non hippie point of view... I think we need to find a way to not DEPEND on fossil fuels. there needs to be more than one way to skin the proverbial cat. I care more about my wallet than about the opinions of environmentalists on global warming. I just think there needs to be a smarter way to get the same results, such as the power you used to record your video. I want to keep my dollars. I don't want the oil companies making record profits on mine.
It's smarter for your wallet to go with fossil fuels. Unless, of course, the fuels are over regulated by the environmentalist nutcase government. Oh, and if it weren't for global warming, we'd still be in the ice age. The sun is hot and it warms the earth. When we're farther from the sun, a phenomenon that occurs every so often, we have an ice age. It's just warm now. It'll cool off again. Just like the Northern Hemisphere will warm up shortly for summer, just on a much larger playing field.
You need to spend some more time exploring the alternative energies before you go advocating such a toxic, deadly form of power as nuclear.
There are so many much simpler and basic ways to make power. There are thousands of free energy patents in the u.s. patent office. Besides....do you really think in college they are going to tell you about things they don't want you to know about? Trace the route and learn about WHO printed up the books you studied. You learned censored information.
I thought the sun was main reason for global temperature(pointing out the obvious)!I subscribe to the belief Based on previous evidence IE past known global temps that this global warming fear mongering is bullshit!30 years ago we were supposed to be on the verge of an ice age!I'ts a bit arrogant to think we make that much difference!
1 The hydrogen car is using fuel cells instead of batteries. If rechargeable batteries are developed faster than fuel cells are there will be no need for hydrogen cars. and btw electrolysis is very easy.
2 Water vapor is a very potent greenhouse gas, but there is a huge difference between that and co2. It is called condensation, yes, water vapor condensates. It doesn't even have to leave the car as vapor.
3 The electric engine, even with losses within the powerplant, in the powerlines, in the battery and in the engine, is way more efficient than the current combustion engine.
You yourself is promoting nuclear power, why not use that power to power your cars? My countrys powerplants are about 50% nuclear power, 40% hydroelectricity and only 3.5% fossil fuel. You could compensate your lack of hydroelectricity with more nuclear power.
It is quite easy to have a close to carbon free society.
first you gotta realize that we are in the process of going to green sustainable electricity to provide the energy to make the hydrogen. your hydrogen thing is bullshit water vapor contributing to global warming? no. it falls down as rain dumb ass... just like when you boil water.
first we get on solar/wind/tidal/geothermal then we gotta use excess energy to make hydrogen. to run a society you pretty much need a fuel and a source of energy
I am using my education. I currently attend graduate school for a physics PhD and one promising field which I may enter is better, cleaner, energy production. I apologize if my pragmatism about our current status in this field offends you.
its nice that you have a education. here is something to think about, quite complaining about byproducts from other people ideas and come up with a solution that works, your educated use the knowledge and come up with a solution that works or helps. first everything we do on this planet comes from this planet. we just change what is already there. here is a solutoin that works solar cells. what are the down sides to using those?
I did suggest a solution that works... nuclear power. The downside to solar cells (currently) is that they are extremely difficult to produce (in terms of resources) and notoriously inefficient. Solar power is promising no doubt, but not substantial enough to supply power to the entire world. Solar cells are also an immense land polluter, in addition to windmills.
I agree with you about hydrogen and strongly about using nuclear -- thorium is looking promising. I think most ppl understand that electric cars indirectly produce some emmisions. The gridz won't be oil-based forever and the effeciency is still far far greater. Nuclear - grid upgrades - electric carz. That's what I say. ;p Overall - excellent vid - 5/5
Actually, 100% of the universe is radioactive... but still, radiation isn't okay. I appreciate there are people who don't know what it is, but it's a barefaced lie to say it's completely safe.
Your points on water vapour and fossil fuel fired power stations are completely narrow minded and undermine your audience. Like CO2, water vapour is a problem when it's in the wrong place, however you know full well that H2O gas can be managed far better than CO2.
I never, ever, said radiation is completely safe! Where are people getting this notion? What do you mean H20 vapor can be managed far better than C02? In fact, H20 leaves the atmosphere slower than CO2 and is a relatively non reactive substance. Please clarify. Also, what do you mean 100% of the universe is radioactive, much of the inert matter in the vacuum of space is H and H2, He, and other non radioactive gases.
People get that notion because you rant and rave about how clean, good and safe nuclear power is.
I'm not talking about which leaves the atmosphere first, I'm talking about how easily it can be reused. H2O can be made to condense pretty damn easily.
And I'll have to come back to you about the radioactivity of inert gases; you won't believe me unless I name other people who say it. (hah)
As you can see by the length of the video, I had to edit it down considerably in order to abide by the 10 minute rule youtube enforces. If you have a questions feel free to comment, and I would be happy to reply.
I'm sorry for posting again, but I just noticed down the comments that you have already responded to some of the questions that I posted.
You might consider how dangerous it is to blast technologies like electric cars without talking about the benefits. Some may misunderstand you. I got that you were talking about the 'electric cars cause no polution' people, but some may not.
As far as the electric car goes. Although I agree that to say that electric cars have no environmental impact is silly, what evidence do you have that they pollute more than gas powered cars? Have any reliable studies been done on this? Why don't you think they are a better alternative?
The big question I have about electric cars, is the impact of batteries that have to be replaced in them. 10 years or so down the road are there disposal/recycling issues?
Hello there. I have really enjoyed your videos. Especially your rebuttals to DonExodus2. I thought I was the only one who saw how irrational he is.
I am convinced that pushing hydrogen fuel is a way for powers that be to keep us on gasoline while this magical technology is always 15-20 years away.
But, on to the actual point. I am confused about nuclear energy. I would disagree that you can compare radiation from the sun to nuclear waste. Or am I uninformed? They are different.
Glad you enjoyed the videos. There are a few typical types of harmful radiation from radioactive material. Alpha, Beta, and Gamma radiation- an ejected helium nucleus, electron, and photon respectively. While all three forms of radiation are present in the sun and radioactive waste, most of the exposure we get here on earth from the sun is gamma. In addition, cosmic rays from elsewhere in the universe can also expose humans to small amounts of all three types of radiation.
Is your point that the average person will get more 'harmful' radiation in their life from natural sources and everyday appliances than from nuclear waste? I could dig that point man! :)
It depends how close you get to nuclear waste. If you don't work directly with it, then yes you will receive far more radiation from everyday things than from treated and buried nuclear waste. However the point I was trying to get across is that the public stigmatizes radiation and nuclear power without fully understanding it. Most don't realize that there is radiation around them at all times, and that nuclear waste disposal is actually a pretty safe thing.
It was the Chernobyl incident that terrified people away from nuclear power,Its fear of a melt down and terrorism that causes people to oppose the construction of new power plants in municipalities.
Penn and Teller made a episode on the bullshit hippie movement and the baloney that has wrapped itself into universities,They did a skit were they tricked Hippies into signing a petition to ban water.
Ok although its true that electricity for electric cars are produced by fossil-fuel burning power plants would you at least acknowledge that those powerplants are much more efficient than a cars combustion engine thereby reducing the amount of fossil fuel needed to power a vehicle?
As for people needing to learn about radiation i actually work in a lab and I handle radioactive materials. To say that radioactive waste is somehow not dangerous is patently absurd.
I also work in a silicone strip detector lab with radioactive materials. One of our main beta sources is Strontium 90, a common byproduct in nuclear reactors. I in no way shape or form suggested that radioactive waste is not dangerous, but rather that the methodology by which we dispose of said waste is more safe and less harmful than the average person seems to think.
Yes I do admit that electric cars are claimed to be technically more efficient in terms of miles per kilowatt than gasoline engines. While battery production remains extremely expensive in terms of resources, I believe this will improve in the future. Let me note again that I am not opposed to electric cars, but would like to change the method of electricity generation to more renewable sources and nuclear power.
I dont think we are in disagrement then. However the way you approached the topic was to blast something completely unrelated then. Its one thing to say people are focused on the wrong thing its another to take the thing they are focused on and try to undermine it in what i considered a disengenous manner. Electric vehicles and hydrogen-fuel cells ARE viable ways to increase our energy efficiency.
Now i get your point that where our energy supply comes from is more important than how we use it downstream. I also can see a point in arguing that we should focus first on the supply rather than the demand. However what this video is is you just telling us how stupid people are without actually spending more than 30 seconds on what you think the issue is or how we should address it. Makes for good drama I suppose but I didnt get much content.
In otherwords the "fact" that hippies are retarded does not in anyway present an argument for why electric cars are not a viable way of curbing demand for a limited resource. The arguments for why that isnt a viable way that you presented were frankly falacious, poor, or misrepresented as have been pointed out in numerous other comments.
Fact is that power plants are more efficient than combustion engines and therefore using electricity is "cleaner" no matter what the source (even coal).
Also when disposing of nuclear waste its the half-life that determines the amount of cost associated with disposal. Strontium-90 has a relatively short half-life if i recall correctly (in the range of decades) versus much of the material produced in a fission reaction.
I assume much of the aversion to using Nuclear Power comes not from the hippies but from the power companies themselves that dont want to deal with the disposal costs. I might be wrong but that would make sense wouldnt it?
Yeah I have heard this also, but the US is too scared to allow serious hemp farms to produce paper because the two plants are closely related. *Bangs head into the table*
Hemp farming in Canada is highly regulated though. The government regulates the size of hemp farms to being very small. It is not like you can just grow hemp. Canada is not much more enlightened on hemp than the US is.
I don't have a problem with hippies sitting in ancient trees. Throwing feces at loggers sounds like a good time...throwing feces at anyone sounds good to me. I was with you on the hydrogen cars until you started with the vapors. I like electric cars. I think you would if we built more power plant. Instead of nuclear, what about wind farms, hydroelectricity, solar, and geothermal. The tools exist, but someone locked the toolbox.
"The tools exist, but someone locked the toolbox." YES! Joe Public thinks the tech isn't there but most solutions to our energy problems have had the tech worked out years ago. It's implementation that's the problem. The energy sector is not an even playing field.
The answer is not more power plants, it's using our energy resources far more efficiently. Some estimates say that a ten-fold increase in useful work we get out of every watt of power is possible. A four-fold increase is do-able now.
Nuclear is absolutely the worst choice. No reactors are being built not because of hippies (though the NIMBY factor is there) but because no venture capitalists are dumb enough to touch it. There is more micropower (small hydro, bio waste, wind and solar) generating capacity in the world today than nuclear and it is growing about seven times faster. Nuclear is ridiculously expense. The US Fed gov has offered a 100+% subsidy and still no one will touch it. Money tells the truth.
Your right in the sense that micropower is a great way to go, but I have doubts that it will be able to fully provide enough power for the world's energy consumption right now - not to mention what society will need in the future with developing countries.
Nuclear plants are more expensive to build, but very cheap to operate. Whether the overall cost per kilowatt is higher or lower than fossil fuels depends on how long the plant runs for.
The figures I've seem say prohibitively expensive to build (with an alarming "lemon" rate) and expensive to operate, especially when the cost of waste management is included (and it must be for a true economic comparison, no free-riders!) I just can't find the report with the figures in question on my computer!
The main point is that with true mass efficiency the whole debate becomes irrelevant. The answer to the false dichotomy of energy or environment is, of course, none of the above.
Fee fi fo fippy, boy I hate a hippy. Yet I am a liberal and an environmentalist. They are not the same thing and I'm tired of the two things being conflated. You want to see a hard core, hard nosed environmentalist check out Amory Lovins at the Rocky Mountain Institute.
Hydrogen is not an energy source, it's an energy storage system, nothing else. It bugs me how hippies miss that point.
The electric car is just a way of making energy use in the transport sector fungible. (cont)
So what do you call the radioactive waste and what do you call all the radioactive materials when the plant is decommissioned ? If it doesn't pollute can we build one in your back yard and bury the waste there when we have finished ?
The chemical equations you just gave show that using water and electrolysis for hydrogen can never yield back the amount of electricity it takes to create - else we would have free energy.
That's exactly the point, you need 6 times the amount of energy in to produce 1 unit of energy out. That's why I don't support hydrogen. I was just correcting his mistake. Air from water, didn't this guy go to school. If he did he must have met thm coming out.
I am not suggesting we bury nuclear waste in your backyard. My point was, there is radioactive material beneath EVERYONES backyard in the mantle of the earth. If we bury the waste in a deep isolated place - no one would ever be the wiser.
Your absolutely right, my burning hydrogen analogy was way oversimplified, but the net result - namely the production of water vapor from oxygen and hydrogen - is still the same. So my point still stands. Regarding polluting power plants, I was pointing out that modern plants burn fossil fuels for electricity which emits greenhouse gas. Nuclear power does not "burn" anything of the sort, and so in that sense, is clean.
"The most important greenhouse gases are: * water vapor, which causes about 36--70% of the greenhouse effect on Earth. (Note clouds typically affect climate differently from other forms of atmospheric water.) * carbon dioxide, which causes 9--26% * methane, which causes 4--9% * ozone, which causes 3--7%"
You can also just look at the electromagnetic absorption spectrum of water and compare it with CO2

2.) Nuclear Power is Extremely Dangerous! I would not want to drive my family in a nuclear powered car that could make them fall sick.
3.) Those ancient fossil-fuel-powered electric plants should be replaced with something cleaner and more modern (excluding nuclear power).
4.) Cars should run on electricity provided by free-energy systems. With these systems, you don't run out of power.

Are you fucking retarded? It's the left wingers who push for more power in governments hands - they're the ones that want everyone controlled by the man. Conservatives want LIMITED control, because unlike all you stupid fucking liberals we have a brain that can think on its own.

You're fucking retarded, and your grammar resembles a 6 year old's.
Conservatives generally want less government, more private industry. Liberals want more government involvement with socialism, and less private industry.
Why else would all the conservatives be bitching about socialism if we wanted more government while the liberals rejoice?
OMG! You're so fucking stupid just like every other liberal - you don't even know what your own agenda is! XD

I don't want the oil companies making record profits on mine.
lukestuffy 3 years ago
It's smarter for your wallet to go with fossil fuels. Unless, of course, the fuels are over regulated by the environmentalist nutcase government. Oh, and if it weren't for global warming, we'd still be in the ice age. The sun is hot and it warms the earth. When we're farther from the sun, a phenomenon that occurs every so often, we have an ice age. It's just warm now. It'll cool off again. Just like the Northern Hemisphere will warm up shortly for summer, just on a much larger playing field.
cromansky 2 years ago
You need to spend some more time exploring the alternative energies before you go advocating such a toxic, deadly form of power as nuclear.
There are so many much simpler and basic ways to make power. There are thousands of free energy patents in the u.s. patent office. Besides....do you really think in college they are going to tell you about things they don't want you to know about? Trace the route and learn about WHO printed up the books you studied. You learned censored information.

There are so much wrong with what you are saying:
1 The hydrogen car is using fuel cells instead of batteries. If rechargeable batteries are developed faster than fuel cells are there will be no need for hydrogen cars. and btw electrolysis is very easy.
2 Water vapor is a very potent greenhouse gas, but there is a huge difference between that and co2. It is called condensation, yes, water vapor condensates. It doesn't even have to leave the car as vapor.
Hedning1390 3 years ago 2
3 The electric engine, even with losses within the powerplant, in the powerlines, in the battery and in the engine, is way more efficient than the current combustion engine.
You yourself is promoting nuclear power, why not use that power to power your cars? My countrys powerplants are about 50% nuclear power, 40% hydroelectricity and only 3.5% fossil fuel. You could compensate your lack of hydroelectricity with more nuclear power.
It is quite easy to have a close to carbon free society.
Hedning1390 3 years ago 2
but i do agree with your stance of nuclear and radiation there isnt a reason for those plants not being built.
but i dont think all hippies are against that

Celladore0 3 years ago
its nice that you have a education. here is something to think about, quite complaining about byproducts from other people ideas and come up with a solution that works, your educated use the knowledge and come up with a solution that works or helps. first everything we do on this planet comes from this planet. we just change what is already there. here is a solutoin that works solar cells. what are the down sides to using those?
wow9825 3 years ago
I did suggest a solution that works... nuclear power. The downside to solar cells (currently) is that they are extremely difficult to produce (in terms of resources) and notoriously inefficient. Solar power is promising no doubt, but not substantial enough to supply power to the entire world. Solar cells are also an immense land polluter, in addition to windmills.

I'll spare you the rest...
ourben 3 years ago
I never, ever, said radiation is completely safe! Where are people getting this notion? What do you mean H20 vapor can be managed far better than C02? In fact, H20 leaves the atmosphere slower than CO2 and is a relatively non reactive substance. Please clarify. Also, what do you mean 100% of the universe is radioactive, much of the inert matter in the vacuum of space is H and H2, He, and other non radioactive gases.
Celladore0 3 years ago
People get that notion because you rant and rave about how clean, good and safe nuclear power is.
I'm not talking about which leaves the atmosphere first, I'm talking about how easily it can be reused. H2O can be made to condense pretty damn easily.
And I'll have to come back to you about the radioactivity of inert gases; you won't believe me unless I name other people who say it. (hah)

I'm sorry for posting again, but I just noticed down the comments that you have already responded to some of the questions that I posted.
You might consider how dangerous it is to blast technologies like electric cars without talking about the benefits. Some may misunderstand you. I got that you were talking about the 'electric cars cause no polution' people, but some may not.
brksailor 3 years ago
As far as the electric car goes. Although I agree that to say that electric cars have no environmental impact is silly, what evidence do you have that they pollute more than gas powered cars? Have any reliable studies been done on this? Why don't you think they are a better alternative?
The big question I have about electric cars, is the impact of batteries that have to be replaced in them. 10 years or so down the road are there disposal/recycling issues?
brksailor 3 years ago
Hello there. I have really enjoyed your videos. Especially your rebuttals to DonExodus2. I thought I was the only one who saw how irrational he is.
I am convinced that pushing hydrogen fuel is a way for powers that be to keep us on gasoline while this magical technology is always 15-20 years away.
But, on to the actual point. I am confused about nuclear energy. I would disagree that you can compare radiation from the sun to nuclear waste. Or am I uninformed? They are different.
brksailor 3 years ago
Hi brksailor,
Glad you enjoyed the videos.
Celladore0 3 years ago
Is your point that the average person will get more 'harmful' radiation in their life from natural sources and everyday appliances than from nuclear waste? I could dig that point man! :)
brksailor 3 years ago
It depends how close you get to nuclear waste. If you don't work directly with it, then yes you will receive far more radiation from everyday things than from treated and buried nuclear waste. However the point I was trying to get across is that the public stigmatizes radiation and nuclear power without fully understanding it. Most don't realize that there is radiation around them at all times, and that nuclear waste disposal is actually a pretty safe thing.
Celladore0 3 years ago
It was the Chernobyl incident that terrified people away from nuclear power,Its fear of a melt down and terrorism that causes people to oppose the construction of new power plants in municipalities.
Gringoman911 3 years ago
Penn and Teller made a episode on the bullshit hippie movement and the baloney that has wrapped itself into universities,They did a skit were they tricked Hippies into signing a petition to ban water.
Gringoman911 3 years ago
They also did one on nuclear power :).
Celladore0 3 years ago
Ok although its true that electricity for electric cars are produced by fossil-fuel burning power plants would you at least acknowledge that those powerplants are much more efficient than a cars combustion engine thereby reducing the amount of fossil fuel needed to power a vehicle?
As for people needing to learn about radiation i actually work in a lab and I handle radioactive materials. To say that radioactive waste is somehow not dangerous is patently absurd.
wemustdissent 3 years ago
Just so my comment isnt all critical of your video I happen to agree about the tree thing ;-)
wemustdissent 3 years ago
I also work in a silicone strip detector lab with radioactive materials. One of our main beta sources is Strontium 90, a common byproduct in nuclear reactors. I in no way shape or form suggested that radioactive waste is not dangerous, but rather that the methodology by which we dispose of said waste is more safe and less harmful than the average person seems to think.
Celladore0 3 years ago
Wemustdissent-
Yes I do admit that electric cars are claimed to be technically more efficient in terms of miles per kilowatt than gasoline engines. While battery production remains extremely expensive in terms of resources, I believe this will improve in the future. Let me note again that I am not opposed to electric cars, but would like to change the method of electricity generation to more renewable sources and nuclear power.
Celladore0 3 years ago
I dont think we are in disagrement then. However the way you approached the topic was to blast something completely unrelated then. Its one thing to say people are focused on the wrong thing its another to take the thing they are focused on and try to undermine it in what i considered a disengenous manner. Electric vehicles and hydrogen-fuel cells ARE viable ways to increase our energy efficiency.
wemustdissent 3 years ago
Now i get your point that where our energy supply comes from is more important than how we use it downstream. I also can see a point in arguing that we should focus first on the supply rather than the demand. However what this video is is you just telling us how stupid people are without actually spending more than 30 seconds on what you think the issue is or how we should address it. Makes for good drama I suppose but I didnt get much content.
wemustdissent 3 years ago
In otherwords the "fact" that hippies are retarded does not in anyway present an argument for why electric cars are not a viable way of curbing demand for a limited resource. The arguments for why that isnt a viable way that you presented were frankly falacious, poor, or misrepresented as have been pointed out in numerous other comments.
Fact is that power plants are more efficient than combustion engines and therefore using electricity is "cleaner" no matter what the source (even coal).
wemustdissent 3 years ago
Also when disposing of nuclear waste its the half-life that determines the amount of cost associated with disposal. Strontium-90 has a relatively short half-life if i recall correctly (in the range of decades) versus much of the material produced in a fission reaction.
I assume much of the aversion to using Nuclear Power comes not from the hippies but from the power companies themselves that dont want to deal with the disposal costs. I might be wrong but that would make sense wouldnt it?
wemustdissent 3 years ago
I am not a hippie by the way
an alternative for paper is hemp (not marijuana)
tooltime9901 3 years ago 2
Yeah I have heard this also, but the US is too scared to allow serious hemp farms to produce paper because the two plants are closely related. *Bangs head into the table*
Celladore0 3 years ago
The marijuana prohibition is bullshit, Were a little more moderate on that subject in Canada as hemp farming is not illegal up here.
Thats a nice subject for you to cover in your next video.
Gringoman911 3 years ago

VonSchnutze 3 years ago
'So if you've got any poo throw it now' and to all other sentient beings out there 'The idea is to bang the rocks together guys'
Odziz 3 years ago
"The tools exist, but someone locked the toolbox." YES! Joe Public thinks the tech isn't there but most solutions to our energy problems have had the tech worked out years ago. It's implementation that's the problem. The energy sector is not an even playing field.
The answer is not more power plants, it's using our energy resources far more efficiently. Some estimates say that a ten-fold increase in useful work we get out of every watt of power is possible. A four-fold increase is do-able now.

You have obviously done less than 2 minutes of research on hydrogen fuel cell cars and the research being done on hydrogen production.

Boldhome 3 years ago
I totally agree BoldHome, Nuclear is a NO NO!
Micro generation is the answer, its localised and not prone to grid failure and it is gridable.
Odziz 3 years ago
Boldhome
Your right in the sense that micropower is a great way to go, but I have doubts that it will be able to fully provide enough power for the world's energy consumption right now - not to mention what society will need in the future with developing countries.
Nuclear plants are more expensive to build, but very cheap to operate. Whether the overall cost per kilowatt is higher or lower than fossil fuels depends on how long the plant runs for.
Celladore0 3 years ago
The figures I've seem say prohibitively expensive to build (with an alarming "lemon" rate) and expensive to operate, especially when the cost of waste management is included (and it must be for a true economic comparison, no free-riders!) I just can't find the report with the figures in question on my computer!
The main point is that with true mass efficiency the whole debate becomes irrelevant. The answer to the false dichotomy of energy or environment is, of course, none of the above.
Boldhome 3 years ago
Fee fi fo fippy, boy I hate a hippy. Yet I am a liberal and an environmentalist. They are not the same thing and I'm tired of the two things being conflated. You want to see a hard core, hard nosed environmentalist check out Amory Lovins at the Rocky Mountain Institute.
Hydrogen is not an energy source, it's an energy storage system, nothing else. It bugs me how hippies miss that point.
The electric car is just a way of making energy use in the transport sector fungible. (cont)
Boldhome 3 years ago
Hydrogen fuel cell does not 'burn' hydrogen. Hydrogen fuel cell is basically a Rechargeable battery.
Water + electricity = hydrogen + air
Hydrogen + air = water + electricity
And your are contradicting your self.
Electricity requires polluting power plants.
Nuclear power plants don't pollute.
???????????
LaughingOtoko 3 years ago
Lets correct a little bit of chemistry here:
Water = H2O
Water + Electricity + Electrolysis = 2 x H + O
Hydrogen + Oxygen + Fuel Cell = Electricity + H2O
So what do you call the radioactive waste and what do you call all the radioactive materials when the plant is decommissioned ? If it doesn't pollute can we build one in your back yard and bury the waste there when we have finished ?
Didn't think so.
Odziz 3 years ago
The chemical equations you just gave show that using water and electrolysis for hydrogen can never yield back the amount of electricity it takes to create - else we would have free energy.
Celladore0 3 years ago
That's exactly the point, you need 6 times the amount of energy in to produce 1 unit of energy out. That's why I don't support hydrogen. I was just correcting his mistake. Air from water, didn't this guy go to school. If he did he must have met thm coming out.
Odziz 3 years ago
I am not suggesting we bury nuclear waste in your backyard. My point was, there is radioactive material beneath EVERYONES backyard in the mantle of the earth. If we bury the waste in a deep isolated place - no one would ever be the wiser.
Celladore0 3 years ago
Hi Laughing
Your absolutely right, my burning hydrogen analogy was way oversimplified, but the net result - namely the production of water vapor from oxygen and hydrogen - is still the same. So my point still stands. Regarding polluting power plants, I was pointing out that modern plants burn fossil fuels for electricity which emits greenhouse gas. Nuclear power does not "burn" anything of the sort, and so in that sense, is clean.
Celladore0 3 years ago
Hmmm...hippies are retarded...I agree. Liberalism is gay, and conservativism as well. Many things are gay and retarded.

A simple wiki search will answer your question.
