That language sounds like all the 'indigenous' languages around the coast of the Pacific Ocean. some say there used to be a continent nowadays referred to as Lemuria, and in old Tibetan scrolls written in Chaldaean, the land is referred to Lamura, if I'm not mistaken.
@MaBu888 Yes the Māori people are from the Pacific. Our language is part of the Pacific. Especially the Cook Islands and Tahiti. Thats interesting what you said about Chaldaean. Thanks for watching.
Hello from Germany. I really enjoyed your video and loved listening to your wonderful language. You managed to put a serious matter into a very entertaining form.
Hello. Im glad you enjoyed my video. This matter is a ongoing matter with us people. But I think there are other cultures that have this problem as well.
Greetings to the land of the Auto bahn. Sehr gut!
Kia ora ! l am mexican but planning on migrating to NZ sometime next year, hopefully... so l try to learn as much as possible about the Maori -magnificent- culture; my concern is, how would You react before my family? me and my children are mexicans and my husband is African ?... Blessings to you all. And thank you.
We would probly eat you..... Na LOL we wouldnt man. We would treat you like anyone else in New Zealand. New Zealand is multi culture . Our schools cater towards other cultures of the world as well. I know how it feels migrating.
this movie is great. I am learning to become a secondary school art teacher, and because i am canadian it is very daunting to approach the idea of passing on a culture that is not mine. I really liked the humour you brought to this important topic as by the end of my class (on teaching maori art) today i was feeling a bit unwanted, and your approach made me feel less attacked and more like there was a potential to work together to improve the community.
Thank you for your nice remarks on my video. I understand you finding it daunting to teach a culture that doesn't belong to you. But we as teachers need to adapt to our surroundings and teach what is appropriate to those children we are teaching. I am from a tribe called Nga Puhi and when I am out of those boundrys things can be daunting for me to teach as I need to relearn many ways that are different to from where I am from. Kia kaha and try your best at what you can do within this subject.
please help me my favourite rapper had a message on his album i believe it to be written in maori but i need help translating it ive tried but could do with help
Wiremu, this is great video with very serious message... Do you plan to make more videos about problems that Maori people have in Aotearoa? Your culture is magnificent and im enjoying in learning about it cause i plan to move to Aotearoa in 2009. Wish me luck :)
Great job Wiremu! Keep uploading and keep fighting!
no!!!!! dun let that happen!!!! eventho i'm not a maori....but dun let the maori culture disappears...it will be such a waste...all the maori ancestor sacrifices will be lost
Its all theory talk from the National party leader. We Maori are good fighters in the legal system. Alot of us are becoming educated so we can get jobs where we can preserve our culture. Thanks for your concerns.
Te reo Maori is part of the New Zealand National curriculum. Most schools implement it by using basic Maori greetings. It is still a option in high school. If National wins the election they plan on deleting the Maori identity and anything that is irrelevant to Maori.
This is a great message to peoples that are in fear of losing their language and culture. Intergration should be the rule and not just rolling over the culture and implementing a new one.
Cheers for your comment and watching Prototype87. Yes I agree with you. It is a long struggle for us Maori to get there. Both culture has to come to the party for it to work. It is happening but very slowly.
my god, you take the eternity to speak a easy sentence !

The funny bone is still intact.
Where can one find some basic maori pronunciation guides, they need to get some online, I wouldn't mind learning some basics.
