  • @mrceleb2006 - yup. that was deliberate. the joke at the time was he sounded more like nick gilder than nick gilder.

  • No classic rock radio station ever played this Sweeney Todd song, other than "Roxy Roller".

  • @mrceleb2006 adams did a version of the song too, the third time they released roxy roller as a single. sounds NEARLY IDENTICAL to gilder's.

  • @canconrox Really!

  • Bryan Adams.

  • that's nick gilder not bryan adams singing

  • @captainbeyond51 no it isn't. it's adams. he was 17 when he recorded this song w/ sweeney todd.

  • wow, he sounds way better then a certain other "singer" whom name should not be mentioned. it sounds angelic.

  • @bbriiannz Sounds a bit like a woman, eh! In fact, Bryan Adams' first solo hit after leaving Sweeney Todd, the disco tune "Let Me Take You Dancin'", his voice sounded a bit like a woman, eh!

  • @mrceleb2006 It could be worse. I mean have you heard today's music?

  • @bbriiannz Yes.

  • @mrceleb2006 exactly.

  • B.C Baby

  • Rare lp

  • oh Bryan...can't believe it! his voice is so different here.. but i love it anyway :D

  • Okay, I've never heard Bryan singing like this. One would think a vocal coach may have guided his career ever so slightly...

  • I read somewhere that Bryan actually didn't have a high voice and that the tapes were sped up. O_o

  • @metalmickeyiscute it's true my friend. The producers deliberately sped his voice up to sound younger than it already was.

  • bryan adams!

  • Thanks, these guys played at my Junior high school in Burnaby.

What a great blast from the past

  • bryan adams lol

  • What the fuck was that Bryan Adams? I'm glad Sweeney Todd quit doing that shit. Bryan Adams is pretty awesome though.

  • I used to party with Bryan... He first came and played at my Highschool... went out and celebrated his 17th b-day with him... been friends since! Nick is a great friend too.. I went to school with his younger brother Steve.

  • who is bryan adams for $10 000?

i love this song! thanks for downloading it! you made my day!

  • Bryan and the guys came to my 13th highschool dance. Bryan was such a cutie! I known Nick and his brother really well since I was 13.. I love Sweeney Todd better with Nick tho.

  • fuck he sang well for being 15

  • @PrisonBreakFilms Yeah, but in 79 he had a Canadian hit called Let Me Take You Dancing but he said in interviews that he thought he sounded like a chipmunk on the song. It was his 1980 self titled album that brought out his current singing voice. Hiding From Love was his 2nd solo Canadian hit and the first single released to feature his raspy style.

  • @nbmike65 well I guess his voice grew deeper as he grew older, still he sang well at a young age even thogh he didn't take voice lessons or anything like that I think

  • @PrisonBreakFilms Bryan has always had the ability to sing pure like this. I just think after Let Me Take You Dancing hit, he wanted to go less in the Nick Gilder direction and more into the Don Henley vocal range. Honorable trade IMHO. lol

  • @nbmike65 yep they sped it up to make him sound even younger

  • @thedarkesthole This song actually has Bryan's natural teenage singing voice. The only time his voice was sped up was when a producer specializing in disco-remixes named John Luongo remixed his "Let Me Take You Dancing" in 1979 for the US market. Luongo sped up the master tapes to facilitate a disco beat for the song, but neglected to ask Bryan to re-record his vocals. By all accounts, Bryan was not pleased at all with the remix and has rarely performed the song live since.

  • @nbmike65 weird. I should know better than to trust wikipedia, which is where i read that this whole album was sped up vocally to make him sound younger. i dont doubt that what you say is true.

  • @thedarkesthole Maybe they did speed up the tracks. I wasn't there but something about the info and timeline of this song doesn't quite add up I found out in my research. The claim from Sweeney Todd is that Bryan is 15 years old here. Roxy Roller was a big hit in 76 with Nick Gilder still as the lead singer, and "If Wishes Were Horses" was released in 77. Bryan was born Nov 5 1959, making him 15 in 1974. He would have turned 18 in 77. Conspiracy...hmmm...I'll be in the corner folks. Discuss.

  • His voice is absolutely amazing!!! Budd Marr is a close family friend and we would hang around and listen to them practice hoping they would notice us girls...lol. I remember Sweeney Todd and Trooper playing at the Stardust Roller Rink when I was young. This is my all time favorite song ever! From a female point of view Brian has the sexiest voice. More so now but even way back then. Brought back many wonderful memories!!! Thank you for putting this here!

  • He sure nailed the distinct Nick Guilder voice. Honest, I couldn't tell the difference. Then I found out when I was wondering what happened to Sweeney Todd.

  • thanks for sharing :D

  • I played Wastin' Time from the same album like this one and my friend didn't belive me when I said it was Bryan Adams XDXD

  • Mr. B.A.

  • Thank you!!

  • @misswheezybee You are very welcome!

  • Oh Bry had a long way to go eh

  • Aww...pre puberty. :)

  • hahahhahahha wow. I guess I can barely hear its Bryan.

  • @hawksteffey Yeah, I first heard it in 1984 right after Reckless hit the charts. A buddy of mine had the Sweeney Todd LP and played it for me. After the song, I said, "Don't know who it is, but she has a nice voice." Kinda freaked me out too. ^_^
