I build mine like that on my river hunting spot, quick ,easy, and it lasts all season long.Looks natural because there are quite a lot of log jambs and debris that get caught up on all the sandbars and islands. The only that sucks is when it is like -20 and the wind is howling.
that's great for places like that but i have one question. What about in a green field where the grass is low? like a cow field. Because that's where we hunt geese and I can get them to come in on us but as soon as they hit about near shooting range they see us and flinch off. Any tips would help.. thanks Toua
thats kinda how i hunt geese to well one thing you van do is buy one of those things that you laydown in and get some long grass "off of the field you hunt" and cover the whole ting with it and every time you shoot you cover it back up unless you can buy one that is realy green and blends in with the field you hunt...try that out i hope it worx :]
try either digging a couple holes and throwing in some barrels to get you low to the ground with some good brush or make shells and paint them like the grass to where you can sit under them and throw them off at the last second.. if that doesn't work... idk.. wrap your lower body in a white sheet with to match the snows in your decoy spread
@duckhunterlimited in a situation like you describe, you dont necessarily have to blend in with your surroundings. try making a blind or buying a blind that resembles a bail of hay, geese are used to that. in the off season you could dig a goose pit out in the middle, 6-7 foot deep and cover it with rolling doors, so you can shoot. another thing you can do is get down in the field and put the decoys all around you really packed in tight, they wont notice you untill you are shooting.
just get sticks and lay down behind them when u see ducks...
