In terms of the wiretapping issue (that you allude to) it is important to make sure that the administration abides by the laws and gets warrants for the spying. Why are they so afraid of abiding by our judicial system?

While I accept the sincerity of your comment, I think the democrats are trying to protect the accountability of our government and insure that the administration is doing what is in the best interests of the people. In terms of the wiretapping issue (that you allude to) it is important to make sure that the administration abides by the laws and gets warrants for the spying. Why are they so afraid of abiding by our judicial system?

I don't know one person or have heard of one person that has been tapped or has been impacted by the Patriot Act. No Americans have lost their civil liberties, it's false histeria.
The reality is that they are surveilling the Muslim community and other targets of interest. Not your everyday Americans but those who should be watched.

I used to feel the same. Until I realized that when you give an inch, they take a mile. Our 1st amendment right is frequently infringed. Our 2nd amdenment right is always under attack. Our fifth amendment right has been abused since 1913 with the income tax and IRS. There are more, but I'll leave it at that.

Can you explain to me how the enforcement of congressional subpoenas is partisan? The republican 'compromise' was to have a private meeting with no record, no oaths, and an agreement that no further subpoenas be issued. In other words the witnesses could: Lie as much as they want with no record, no fear of reprisal, and no further commitment to restate the lies under oath. Can you explain what court in the US would uphold those terms for ANY investigation?
