  • lol illidian is in the back round

  • Kalonian Behemoth (whith Shroud) is played.

Can the oher Player "Clone" ihm?

  • Sure. Clone doesn't say "Target" does it?

  • YES "You may have Clone enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield."

    it doesn't target a permanent

  • I wonder how they're gonna errata the wish cards since they get cards from outside of the game.

  • They can't get cards from Exile, since Exile is inside the game.

  • the new terms sounds kind of dumb. I mean the "battlefield" is in duel masters ( a sucky card game ) too! Well, at least ken is not in this video.

  • For all those people that are complaining about the rule changes I have a couple of things to say. Ive been playing since 1995 and have seen many things change in the world of magic. None have been good or bad changes because every rule change affects everyone who plays. The game play might have changed a little but the reason why we play is still the same, because its fun!

  • old school style is still the best. high five.

  • Yes, testify brother! :) Seriously, i'm glad the stack is gone. It was so confusing in multi-player games. Now its just "Does this resovle? Yes or no?"

  • Those 20-sided dice are huge.

  • I like the new wording. It's more clear and accurate to the flavor of the game.

  • Now what sounds nerdier...

    "-I play my Krosan SkyScraper"

"Well, I play Unmake and I remove it from the game"

    Or

"-I put my Krosan SkyScraper into the battle field"

"Well, I cast Unmake and I exile it "

I mean seriously are we children? "It more flavorful".

    Flavorful or just plain sad...

  • Good point, my friend. Things like that are just made for nerds who don't care about the gameplay. :(

  • I think I'm going to quit...

  • Just because they changed some words? Come on!!!

  • More than that, because my cards are now not standard legal. And half my cards are not even extended legal. All those cards, and now they're not legal, waste of money.

  • Well, that's how Magic works since they introduced Standard and Extended tournaments. It was true 8 years ago and it's still true. But Magic is more than tournaments, if you play with your friends it doesn't matter what cards you have.

  • That's why I stopped getting boosters and theme packs, and started getting only duel deck boxes. Having over 15 theme decks gets confusing when organizing.

  • I'm starting Call of Cthulhu LCG, since any card is legal (even in tournaments), and also the fact 1 box gives the whole set, no need buying 20 boosters to get that rare for no luck. In CoC LCG, 1 box you get every card in the set.

  • I saw playing their Game of Thrones LCG and I didn't like it very much although I like the book series A LOT. Besides I really like Magic strategy and complexity, plus I love being a collector and like trading with other players, so I think I'll sitck with Magic. Good luck on CoC LCG.

  • You must be new to the game then. I knew about rotation before I started playing so I try to stick to stuff like burn instead of the new ability that comes along with a new expansion.

  • I've been collecting since 8th edition, through Mirrodin, Kamigawa, Ravnica, and Time Spiral. Now you see, MOST my cards aren't tournament legal, and I find that sad. Just a trick Wizards is doing to keep me buying.

In Call of Cthulhu, there's none of that stuff, everything is allowed in tournaments. (no sense banning Cthulhu because he's in an old set)

  • Are you trying to get people to switch over to Call of Cthulhu?

  • No, just explaining why I'm moving to Call of Cthulhu. Just explaining, since it seems you needed an explanation why I decided to switch.

  • Are you sure you want to switch? M10 may surprise you.

  • Cards from all of those sets are legal in any Extended, Legacy, or Vintage tournament. In addition, many of those cards may have been reprinted in later sets, making them Standard legal as well.

  • Just play the old way... They're sure not going to stop you... unless you play Tournaments.

  • Yeah, I always wanted to go to tournaments, but I can't. I'm not buying anymore cards, just to find I can't use them anymore in a few years. Call of Cthulhu tournaments allow any cards.

  • Why not "Explore a land"? "Play land" is not flavorful enough! Change it too, all MTG players should be running around like "Wow, I'm a mage, I can cast fireball and burn you to ashes! Muhahah!".

  • when one of my cards that are exiled i just turn it upside down under my graveyard lol

  • its bull shit that mana burn is gone :/ i have a deck that uses it to my advantage

  • back to the drawing board.

  • I have played Magic since onslaught. Since then the power level has been rising dramatically. This might be what the players want but what people want is not always what they need. We are heading toward another urza block very fast.

I Think that wotc should make powerful cards but the powerful cards that we have been making are far better than those of the older sets. A block deck from time spiral would get owned by one from Lorwyn and that is not how is should be.

  • Magic is fine. Most players don't like those super-powered cards. That's why Standard is the most popular format. Player's enjoy balance over unbalance. Wizards is doing a good job at keeping things fresh and is still actively trying to recruit a new class of players.

  • Well. That would make the game very-unfun.

the magic community around my neck of the wood is thriving and growing because of how strategic and fun it can be.

Power 9 made the game so everyone would win by turn 3-4. That's fun?

  • Sure, all pro players are switching to Yu-Gi-Oh, look at Chris Pikula, Jon Finkel - they're all flipping their Japanese pieces of cardboard. I can agree that tournament players switch to poker because winning money is the main thing they care about while playing cards. Many people though that Magic would die a long time ago. And it didn't.

On the power creep - it's already here - look at the planeswalkers. Powerful rares don't make MTG better, they only make tournament decks expensive.

  • That last sentance is not true.

Some cards have in fact changed functionality.

Cards that care about what is outside the game(the six wishes and research) used to cover RFG-zone (now exile which is no longer outside the game)

thus previously you could "wish" for a card that had been removed//exiled with extirpate, now you cannot.

  • Alright, so 7 of the roughly 10000 Magic cards to date have been affected. Overall, I like these changes for the most part.

Just not liking how the cards are creeping up in terms of power/abilities to cost.

  • You are completely correct, sir.

They changed quite a bit. A lot of cards will not function anymore, and ones that used to be restricted by mana burn are now unrestrained and extremely powerful.

  • I think what he's saying is that the cards they showed in the video haven't changed functionality. Note that he never mentioned any of the Wish cards.

  • Sam is looking to a plaster while talking.. thats just sick..

  • i think "outside the game" that the wishes are refering to is diffrent from the "RFG zone"

  • Are you serious? In case you're not kidding: that change doesn't affect the gameplay, cards like wishes will now refer to the "exiled zone" under the new wording.

  • wishes wont be able to use cards in the exile zone.. because technically the cards in the exile zone are still part of the game

  • yeah, but "out of the game" of the previous sets is what's became the exile zone!

wishes will affect the exile zone, it's obvious.

  • Face-down cards removed from the game could be from a card like

    Parallel Thoughts (Enchantment, 3UU

When Parallel Thoughts comes into play, search your library for seven cards, remove them from the game in a face-down pile, and shuffle that pile. Then shuffle your library.

If you would draw a card, you may instead put the top card of the pile you removed into your hand.)

or the cards from your sideboard (15 cards, that can be switched between games, like Deathmark against green decks)

  • Well, at least thanks to this i know what the hell exile meant. Other terms that confuse me for be to recent:

    "Suspend"

"Face-up card that's removed from the game"

Does this mean there are "face-down cards" that are removed from the game?

And if they are what's the difference?

Usually I just removed the card i didn't cared if it was facing up or facing down =S

  • Suspend was a keyword ability, from the Timespiral block, about 2 years ago.

Suspend 4-{U} (Rather than play this card from your hand, pay {U} and remove it from the game (with M10: "exile") with four time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, play it without paying its mana cost.)

  • Oh, I see... Thx ^^

(I just get back to playing Magic again after 3 years so i miss out on a lot of things xD)

  • i subbed, theres too few "planeswalkers" in the world

  • im glad that wizard put this to gether it all most makes me want to go the magic 2010 preles
