  • my favorite part 0:00 - 2:21

  • A great L P I had was called CHET ATKINS plays JIM REEVES

  • I HAVE TO SAY OF ALL GUITAR PLAYERS I HAVE LISTENED TO THERE IS NO ONE THAT CAN PLAY BETTER THAN CHET!! THANKS

  • 0:01 til 0:07, now we where trance music evolved from...

  • I was blessed to see Chet once in KY. He's one of the most professional musicians I've ever seen. A drunk kept yelling "play nine pound hammer Chet!" Chet stopped the show and put the guy in his place and embarrassed the heck out of him then just kept jammin'. Chet For ever. One of the best guitarists that has ever walked the planet.

  • Aww, this video seemed too short--I could have listened this a bit longer :)

  • Nobody played it like Chet.

  • God, once in a while, give us a glimpse into his powerful works by giving us a human with immeasurable skill to make us realise how small we really are but how much more bigger we could be one day. How else could one explain such effortless talent as seen here and elsewhere in the various artists we have worldwide who make their talents appear so easy to us fellow mortals that we could never understand how they do it and come up with music that captivates us world over.Praise! thanks for post

  • @turnex1 There is no god. Chet put in the work to get that good. He had a passion for the guitar. Don't take away from his brilliance by praising "God" for this.

  • @marcel911 Psalms 14v1.

  • @turnex1 Beano issue 1221 page 3

  • @marcel911 I came here to listen to good music and enjoy it..not get engaged in endless debate about the existence of God. If you choose not to believe in God that is fine by me. You have freedom of choise. All I know is unless one is born with a gift, no matter how many times he/she practices..they will never gain the level of proficiency of someone born with a talent. And I know you know what I am talking about. I credit God, you credit hard work. end of discussion. have a happy life.

  • Respond to this video... freedom of choice..sorry for typo where I rendered choice as choise...ugh!!!

  • @marcel911 Chet would disagree

  • @marcel911 Don't be a douche. He has his beliefs and his opinions and you have yours. That's fine. Although, you just basically came out the gate with selling all his beliefs (which realize it or not has a profound meaning with some people) down the river and then proceeded to give an order not to give praise to his God. It's a man's (excuse me) God given right to worship and do as he or she pleases so long as they are in no way impeding another. But your sir just crossed the line into douchery

  • @RabidPandaman He WAS impeding another. He was saying that Chet Atkins and ALL other similarly skilled musicians are nothing and that their "talents" are God given. He says "How else could one explain effortless talent". How Else? Years of hard work and determination and a love for the music is how else. As an Atheist I was very offended by his comments. He was the one who first mentioned "God" so don't start on me!

  • @marcel911 QFT, there are people who work their whole lives at something like this only to ever just be marginal or mediocre at it. Then there are people who will effortlessly far excede the first people I mentioned by the time they are 8-10 years old. Thats called talent that comes from somewhere else than "hard work" and you'r e not an atheist, you're a metheist so get over yourself.

  • @marcel911 You know there is a God hence the being offended. If someone says they worship the pink polka dotted elephant they bought at the store I might think they are nuts but I am not going to waste my time arguing about it. I get offended everyday. Get over it.

  • @EddieEstes How can ANYONE know there is a god? I have asked "God" many times to strike me down dead. I'm still here. That is proof enough to me. I see why people might worship pink polka dotted elephants but if they try to belittle people's achievements by saying it's all down to the pink elephant then that's not right is it.

  • @marcel911 Maybe that is proof that he loves you in that he does not strike you dead.

All talent is a gift from God. How you use it is up to you.

If that offends you and you get offended that easily don't worry you will get offended again.

    Get used to it!

  • @EddieEstes Or maybe it's proof there is nothing there. I'm sat here now and my hands are on the ends of my wrists. Does that prove the Hand chopper off monster exists but he loves me so hasn't chopped off my hands, or more likely there isn't one?

  • @marcel911 For your information Chet did thank God for the good life he had and he was saved by Christ when he died. To all the others dealing with this guys rant just ignore him. He knows there is God otherwise it would not bother him when people mention him. You don't fuss that muc about something that you think does not exist.

  • @marcel911 Hey Marcel. The only thing worse than a religious person shoving beliefs down people's throats is an atheist who shoves "nothing" down people's throats. Please shut up and enjoy this beautiful beautiful music! He really was a killer guitar player!

  • Chet era foda. Guitarrista do caralho!

  • He was a Legend.

Right proppa Bo, I tell thee Kez!

  • that must be a flame retardant fret-board.

  • I Think no one can believe it. But i've already played on this guitar, you can see in the video. Not just the same model, it's exact this guitar, that chet played for 60 years. My musicteacher bought it for 150000€. It's amazing.

  • I'm guessing The Edge saw this as a kid in Ireland and thought..."hmmm."

  • the touch and feeling chet showed was unsurpassed

  • GREAT !!!

  • w hen did this turn into a religous seminar? how was the music yall

  • From his album, "for the good times and other country moods". One of his finest albums.

  • chet is like fred astaire always perfection

  • AGREED

  • All sorts of other people have played this and while some get all the notes right, it just isn't the same. The feeling isn't there. Chet always adds those extra pieces.

  • that echo technique, I used it in one of my songs. Yet he used it for country, very versatile.

  • This is about as pleasing to the ears as it gets!!

  • I like this version better than the original

  • nur gut das beste

  • Holy Hell what a player!!! Coldchils!

  • No doubt Chet is one of the greatest guitarists that ever played. Incredible tone, but I never much liked him. I prefer Roy Clark, just as good a player, but showmanship to boot! Props to Chet though.

  • there is not musicians like him today, it is such as shame; brings great memoris

  • Мастер!!!!!!!И какая красивая песня,кто бы её не пел.....Чет Аткинс-великий гитарист!!!!Светлая память!!!!

  • 1:53 look at the guy playing bass. Tapping his foot and his leg never moves. LOL

Love chet atkins man, would've loved to have seen him live

  • @fivestander

First off the man you refer to is not playing Bass, thats Paul Yandell who played with Chet for over 25 years and a great guitar player in his own right.

  • A few clunks..but Chet was never at his best live...but a fine performance by a real talent!!

  • The greatest

  • Yah, Snowbird was written by the fabulous Gene McClellan, from here on Prince Edward Island, in maritime Canada. Mr. Atkins sure does it proud....Snowbird was also recorded by Elvis, among others

  • Favoloso

  • the music in heaven went up a notch, the day Chet died

  • No guitarist will ever equal this man and the style he had when playing ! RIP Chet, we miss you !

  • Pretty nice tribute from an American music icon to a Canadian song! Anne Murray, of course.

  • @lgcrooks

Actually, I think it was written by Gene McClellan.

  • I could listen to this all day..such beautiful picking and damping and such a lovely warm tone.

  • The clarity that he played with was and is the best i have ever herd

  • Chet does it again fantastic

  • At 0:30 --

Boy that's one mega-fat drummer. I wanna whack him again and again with chet's guitar, just see what it sounds like.

  • Very funny.

  • Take a pill and relax, as Chet would say "Thats a JOKE SON " and I met him 3 times ...I was only trying to wind up a few folks back when they say that men had not landed on the moon ...Do ya get it ?

  • Hmmmm...Your internet name decribes you well......

  • This is great, I always admired Chet.

  • Chet was the real deal. His touch and his grace on the guitar will never be seen again. Tears on my keyboard.

    Richard

  • @rkhgtrpkr Then you have probably never heard of Jason Becker and Shawn Lane.
