  • Joey Grey is so adorable

  • Idina rocked as Maureen in Rent and Elphaba on Wicked. Btw, wtf is Avenue Q?

  • Best play I've ever seen

  • I met her tonight in Toronto!! Wonderful performance and signing!

  • superb

  • 3:22 the lift broke her ribs thats why she sounded bad but in Broadway THE SHOW MUST GO ON

  • The expressions on Idina's face are amazing!!!

  • Saw this when they were playing! It was awesome!

  • Asthma's no picnic. It's incredible the heights she has reached even with asthma, so lay off! I wouldn't have noticed it if THERE WEREN'T SO MANY DARN COMMENTS ABOUT IT!!!!!

  • Over and over again about her and her asthma.... I have seen her several times - this was the wrongdoing of the sound person - because this was and has been the only time I have ever heard the gasping..... She is incredible, why cant people just watch and listen to the videos and if you dont enjoy it - MOVE ON !!!!!

  • You know, I get that this is a hard song, and their being wached by millions. But this is the Tony's the best of the best, stage fright is no excuse for hyperventilating with every breath you take. Oh and ya my spelling sucks deal with it.

  • @cats2234 i don't think it has anything to do with stage fright...she is in character who has jut been pronounced a wicked witch and is terrified and has seen her entire life just come crashing down around her

  • Well when singers have asthma they are able to calm it down by running and working the lungs out...she was fine for the shows....it's just think if you are under all of that pressure being watched by millions.....and this was HER nomination she was soooo excited yet scared......I would be too.....it happens to everyone...she is still amazing

  • I do wonder what would have happened if Glinda had gone with Elphaba...

  • I never wanted to see Wicked until I sang "For Good" in 8th grade in chorus. Then I saw it in 8th grade with my chorus and it was SO awesome and I wanted to see it on Broadway but Idina and Kristin were no longer in it!

  • 21 people aren't Popu-lar!

  • Everyone knows Wicked should have won best Musical. It will be on Broadway for years! Not Avenue Q!

  • @seandeaon they're both still on broadway......

  • @tanerx I know they're both still on Broadway now, but I guarantee you Wicked will be playing on Broadway long after Avenue Q's final performance.

  • @seandeaon That's only because Wicked is easy to cast for. Avenue Q requires people who are able to sing, dance, act, Muppeteer (puppeteering is different), and play at least 3 characters simultaneously. Unfortunately, many people with those kinds of talents can only be found on Sesame Street (which is where all the original Broadway puppeteers came from for Avenue Q). And not all of them want to do 8 shows a week in NYC. Wicked only requires people who can sing, dance, and act.

  • @ztslovebird

Which in itself is still very difficult.

  • @tanerx actually, Avenue Q left Broadway and is now playing at New World Stages, which is Off-Broadway.

  • @liameg528 i just saw that like a week after i posted the comment lol.

  • @seandeaon Plenty of incredible musicals that have one Best Musical Tonys are not on Broadway for as long as tourist attracting shows like Wicked are. How long a show runs for really doesn't in all cases make it a better show than shows that don't run for as long. In my opinion Avenue Q deserved Best Musical in 2004, and I'm glad that it beat Wicked.

  • @cheerleader5293 That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But for me, the greatest musicals are the ones that run the longest and are remembered by the most people. And as far as I’m concerned, Wicked has already reached this goal and is known by more people outside of NY than Avenue Q is. Wicked will one day stand with other great musicals like Cats, Les Miserables, and the Phantom of the Opera, where as the memory of Avanue Q is already beginning to fade away.

  • @seandeaon A show's quality can't always be determined by its run-time. Most of those shows you listed have only run so long because they're tourist attractions (and 3 of them were written by the same guy who everyone associates with Broadway). True, the crappy shows usually close very quickly. But there have been plenty of shows that have closed before their time (usually suffering death by movie release/pop star). BTW, Avenue Q didn't close; it just moved off-Broadway for a little while.

  • Because of Idina and this Broadway play, I have made it my life goal and dream to be a broadway actress and hopefully someday perform as Elphaba, I would love to meet Idina just to thank her for all the ispiration she has been for me and for her just being an amazing person in general... GO IDINA KEEP DEFYING GRAVITY!!

  • :) She's amzing. I would LOVE to be her right there. I DREAM of being green. :) I love her so much. :) Both of them :) They're amazing.

  • *chills*

  • who cares if she has asthma she is the best alpheba there will ever be.

  • @gator78965822 elphaba

  • @gator78965822 true that. the sad thing is that almost all the elphabas since have made it so cliche with the riffing.

  • kristen and idina shoud still be on brodway

  • wow lol

  • My personal opinion is. Really! I love Idina Menzel! I do! I like her! She is good. But not for Wicked. I mean to get someone that has asthma is not a clever idea. And the "Wicked" songs are until now, one of the hardest songs to sing in the musical repertoire. I love the musical. I've seen it 12 times. But Idina Menzel is not perfect for this rool. I feel bad for her to. Getting an asthma attack almost every night. Look at the germans, Willemijn! She is a healthy (strong) sinnging elphaba!:)

  • @mikespik1 The sad thing is that, when performers get casted, they are perfectly healthy at the time. But just like the case of the wonderful Tonya Perkins performance of Caroline or Change (which competed with Wicked), Tonya was casted when she was healthy, but damaged her voice singing weeks of sung-through dialogue. I don't believe Idina had the sickness when she was casted. Belting high notes 8 times a week is bound to damage the voice within months.

  • Thanks for everyone's help.

  • I love Idina so much! she is amazing in everything she does

  • WICKED FANS we would love to hear from you. Search Repeat Attenders on Facebook for more.

  • BEST MUSICAL EVER!!!

  • @1:55 Why is there a giant black dot in the middle Kristen's forhead?

  • @pixie7732 i think its her mic

  • @pixie7732 It's her mic

  • @pixie7732 its the mic's

  • @pixie7732 its a microphone because the have to sing and act as well they have one on their forehead so its easier to move arond glad if i helped :)

  • good lord, the size of idina's mouth is kinda freaky

  • Wish there was a LOVE button!

  • this was rush indina rushed through still love her though

  • I find it hysterical that a comment that bashed Wicked received so many negative votes that it wouldn't automatically show up anymore!

Geez, Jonas Brothers fans couldn't even do that!

  • poor idina didn't she have an assma attack before this (sorry about the spelling)

  • Idina, quit SCREAMING. Geez.

  • I love Idina's face at 0:51

  • They are indescribable! There will never be another team like Kristen and Idina! AMAZING!

  • @jaywood242424 The groups name is fighting gravity not defying gravity so it's no wonder you found the wrong video, you dork

  • @jaywood242424 this crap? is that a joke?

  • Idina Menzel is incredible. I'm totally in love with her. I hope when the movie version is made that Idina and Christin play their roles together again.

  • geeze, idina's voice is in tatters here...

  • i love this vid, its so hard to find actual footage of wicked, and god knows that i might never ge to see kristin and idina in wicked, being a 14 year old in pennsylvania. I absolutely love it. One quick question. what is on kristin's forehead? there's this bmp or somethin and it's driving me crazy

  • @darkphantom269 its a mic!

  • i <3 idina!!!! and shes so pretty!!

  • she's obviously so nervous.

  • @naatanpink Not nervous- she was having breathing problems before the performance but went on stage anyway. Speaking as an asthmatic, that's an asthma problem she's having. It's very distinct when you inhale like she was.

  • I just learn how to play Defying Gravity in my guitar!! This song is so awesome!!

  • This is one of the greatest musicals ever created. I usually prefer the rock musicals but this is one of the first musicals I ever loved. LOVE YOU IDINA!!!!!!!! YOU FUCKING ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • reading the book atm :P i love elphaba

  • Joel Grey looks awesome. This video reminds me of the 2000s. Kinda miss that decade.

  • Her voice is great, but the yes were a bit creepy when

  • Just a small question (but please don't bash me, I mean no offense, I just really don't know):

How do you all know that she had an asthma attack? Did she (or someone else) say that in an interview?

I mean it's really amazing that she could still perform like this right afterwards, that couldn't have been easy - and she was so great! :-D

  • Where is the LOVE button!?

  • at 3:00 magic is created... and the looks on both of their faces says they knew it... Wickedly Wonderful and delicious..

  • that gave me goosebumps. especially when idina had just had an asthma attack!!!

  • Idina looks fierce! I love it!

  • Shelly Corchran and April Rhoads

  • @iceman1731 Glee

  • This is probably the worst performance of Idina I've seen, but it's still not bad. She just needs to go with the music more (You can tell that either the pit is trying to keep up with her or vice versa)

  • @LocutusOfBorg2010 yeah...this wasn't her greatest!! i still love the writing of this song!!

  • @LocutusOfBorg2010 well she kinda had an asthma attack right before she got on stage.

  • OMG!!!! i love wicked i saw it on broadway and it's amazing! now i sing the songs all the time!!!!! :)

  • idina's mike is hidden in her hat, you can see it hanging in the close up

  • Idina Menzel! GLEE!!! P - P - Poker face

  • oh god....that performance was not very good. i LOVE Idina, but she really doesn't fit that role. like i saw Eden perform a bunch of times and she was way better than at Idina was, at least at this performance. i don't know if she was nervous or something, but.....no.....just no.

  • @jbw612 She was sick this year at the Tony's. But I agree, I've loved everyone that I've seen play Elphaba....Eden, Shoshana, Lisa, etc....they are all fantastic! Better than I could sing it!

  • The Australian cast is so much better. Sorry guys.

  • I never understood the reasoning for Glinda not joining Alfaba, I always thought the reasoning was a little weak.

  • @Arroyo2099 Elphaba....close though with Alfaba. :)

  • @Arroyo2099 because glinda knows she does not have power like ELPHABA. and she thinks she has to stay for fiyero as well. she is scared to become "wicked" and is affarid peoupe wount love her anymore. but she relises twords the end that the only person who really loved her was Elphaba

  • I love kristins voice on 'tandem'...so sweet.

  • both of them are on glee lol

  • i listend to the cd when i go to sleep is that dumb

  • @rocknroll20024 I do too

  • Ok, thats guys gay.

  • shes very good and I do not think anyone can comment but this is an amazing performance she is so talented and such a good singer and actress I have the album and adore her and Kristen they are amazing and I live in Australia

  • that guy was in a ep of buffy

  • @berenaesss "that guy" ??? Hillarious

  • the orchestra is going really really fast in this.

  • wow!!!! she is a witch!

  • This performance has inspired me so much through out my life it taught me that i could change what people thought of me, as some stupid special ed kid, into one of the biggest brains ever in middle school that's right and i have to thank Idina and Kristien for it. I plan to thank kristien in purpose in a couple weeks.

  • I was hoping to see them together on Glee... I LOVE THESE TWO! :)

  • Go Idina. Not even an asthma attack can get her of stage. :)) It´s amazing that she can even sing, I´m very impressed!! And sing VERY good too. All thumbs up.

  • @Teijsta i didnt know she had an asthma when she did this!

  • @Teijsta But she is nothing against Willemijn Verkaik as Elphi in my opinion

  • good lord this song makes my heart race every single time. love it. Idina and Kristin were my two favorites to perform this song, ever. The other girls who followed are good, don't get me wrong...but I'll always have a soft spot for these two.....

  • she sounds like she's yelling :S

  • KRISTIN CHENOWETH IS MY IDOL!!!

  • when kristen and idina sing together i barely can't hear idina! D:

  • Yes I Love the Ending Thats True!

  • one of her best performances =D

  • i love the song!! omg

  • Oh the real version is always better. People who like this song on Glee should hear the Wicked version. I never got tired of this song. Number one on my iPod!

  • The shot of Chenowith smiling at Idina flying is priceless. Totally sweet and moving!

  • @bettyboy72 3:45....that is a great shot. I love that pov

  • @bettyboy72 Very sweet

  • I mean if Stanislavsky was alive to see this shit he would have gone into another business

  • @Hatethehater dude, musical comedy is what really gave theatre its better start

  • LOVE THISSSSS! :]

  • This musical is AMAZING!!!! Going to see it on Broadway was great!!!

  • she is incredible but was she ill or something? cuz she was so much better in the west end :/

    x x

  • first musical i ever saw and omg i loved it i then went to see Wold West story or something like that and it was nothing compared to it

  • is the blonde one off of pushing daisies???

  • @extra4me yes she is and she was on ugly betty

  • @extra4me pushing daisies is completely off the air .... it's sad cause it was kinda funny

  • at 4:44-4:45 check out the lady... BOTOX MUCH

  • okok i have 2 days to wait till i go to london to see this again ahhhhhhhhhhh yey

  • im going to london next weekend to see this again im so excited

  • It's amazing, you'll love it!

  • @bobbie406 good for you

  • I'm just throwing this out as a possibility, but I don't think Idina had an asthma attack. It might be possible that the microphones were too good of quality and it picked up every little thing Idina said and did. You have to think of how she has to really sing out to get all those notes out there to everyone. You really have to get in big breath to power your way through those notes. I dunno, I could be just saying stuff, but oh well. :}

  • my sister said it was the best show ever

  • it is!!!!

  • your sister was right..

  • Best musical to grace the stage, along with Rent :D

  • I saw Wicked two days ago at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, it was a GREAT show!!!

  • @keithjas saw it there in jan. awesome

  • @FlipsHamilton me too i saw it last year i will love it forever

  • kristin missed her line at the end "i hope you're happy" :D

  • my friend has never heard of wicked

  • Even this 40-something straight man knows this is the greatest musical number in the history of, well, everything.

  • Just saw WICKED today in Miami! Fantabulous!! I'd see it repeatedly!

  • She had an asthma attack about fifteen mintues before the performance. I have seen the production seven times, twice with her and she has a much better voice than that. She has an incredible talent, and who can sing a song of that calliber after that?

  • anybody know where i can watch this production?

  • its a really great show! ive seen it! taking your breathe away, so much better than it seems in a video. LUVVVVVVVVVVV IT!!!!!!!

  • new york!! approx $150 w/o discount though

  • is she really that much taller that her?

  • Me, like everyone else, didn't notice the gasping until someone pointed it out...now that's all I hear. I dont care though Idina is still AMAZING!!!!

  • wow

  • this song is so amazingly beautiful, it literally makes me cry every time i hear it.

  • im trying to listen to the song but my attention just goes back to her not so quiet gasps inbetween, poor her

  • The reason she was gasping like that was because she had and asthma attack before she was supposed to perform

  • i have seen alot of performances and this is the best one, i mean, the way she goes up, really makes you see how she is defying gravity!

  • to be honest i did'nt the gasps until you commented it, i just love idina menzels voice, almost wish they'd make a wicked, the movie - starring Idina and Kirsten :)

  • @dwea89 From what i hear and have read your wish is coming true next year with Idina and Kristen taking their rightful roles.

Here in Aus we finally got this musical at the end of last year although id been in love with it since it first came out on broadway.I had to wait years for it so i really cant wait for the movie.yay.

  • i don't like the gasping, :( its kinda ruining the song:(

  • @Skelington48, the gasping was because poor Idina was sick, I think she can be excused for beeing a little off form. She still gave a brilliant performance given the circumstances.

  • u know Dee is sooo much better

  • goldtwilightfan did you see it on broadway cause i saw it to yestereday and it was amazing

  • Idina sounds like she has hiccups

  • I just saw wicked today and I luved it!!! I didn't see idina and Kristen butbthe ppl I saw were really good

  • i think the gasps make her seem emotional which makes this song seem better :) xx

  • @masterscruf I don't know that I agree.

You can see her struggle to hit those high notes at the end but w/e. The rest is amazing - especially when her and Kristin sing together it's just magic.

  • @masterscruf yeah...it's called acting!

  • Hey thanks for ruining this for me. Never noticed the gasping before....now its all I hear.

  • It's Kristen! GLEE PEOPLE?

  • it is:D

  • tony voters were so dumb to not vote on Wicked to be the best musical

  • Kristen and Idina are the Goddesses of Broadway!!

  • does she always make that sounds when she takes breaths? I understand it takes a lot to sing like that, but I dont know if she does that all the time???

  • @acwgolf45 Idina has bad asthma

  • Bear in mind this is one performance..

  • I agree. I never understood why Idina has such bad breath support, she has a vocal coach so her teacher should have taught have taught her about support lol.

  • very good i like it

  • Comment removed

  • and the 9th perf of it that week...i think she sounds pretty darn good!!!!!

  • even with sickness, she pulled it off.
