The man who is a Rickson brown belt, black if he decides to go back to Rickson's school and test via personal email, DESROYES me and he is 20 years older. We have a 2nd degree Rigan Black who says, and trained with Rickson, the same thing. He was the best BBJ fighter ever. His tech, speed and mind are #1.

I mean, you just don't really get any better than that. I agree with you, and I think Roger is the best BJJ athlete ever. The crazy thing is that he's not going anywhere either.

In that respect, Rickson did an excellent job and showed the world that jiu jitsu is a superior art in fighting. Roger lives in an era where the world is trying to prove who's a better jiu jitsu practitioner and fighter. There's a big difference and we need to respect both eras.

Respond to this video...One fighter (don't want to throw his name out there) from Carlson Gracie Team in 1996 when Carlson had his academy in West Hollywood. Told me that Rolls Gracie would play with Rickson so there you go. Also that Sergio Ires "Sergihno de Niteroi" was close.

You have to realize that todays Jiu Jitsu is a few levels higher then when Rickson was the Jiu Jitsu Ace..

I agree with you, but you must take into consideration the fact that they have 20 years apart. Athletes evolve parallel to their sport, meaning they bring the level up, and a high level of skills forces them to evolve too - it raises the bar overall.
Who knows what rickson could've achieved if he was in his mid 20's.
I just don't really agree on comparing prime to prime because the overall expected level, techniques, environment were different.

What do you mean Roger is Partially a Gracie? Read the book Carlos Gracie and you will be surprised at what you will discover. Roger Gracie is the best Gracie out there....Rickson was awesome but Roger is in the level that Rolls was....Rolls is the one that used to to tap Rickson.....
Man, Rolls was a hardcore BJJ guy, but according to the book you mentioned, Rickson was some good years younger than Rolls. And I believe that "younger" in this context means "some years less BJJ experience".
Altough, I both both were/are legends what they proposed to be as their life and profession.
as big a rickson fan i am u have to bring in mind that the people he faced where not nearly as well trained as roger's oponents. the game changed, people aare technical in multiple arts. no doubt roger best bjj in the world right now and his mma future seems to have a bright future. but until he has more fights, can't campare them yet

Well I think Roger has done more in bjj than Rickson already.... ADCC and all the modern bjj tornaments which have a higher talent level today than back in the 80's and 90's..... everything evolves.

To this day no one in the family is as good as Rickson was or still is! Rickson still taps out the very best of the Gracie's in practice. yes his jitz is phenomonal but all the critics agree, he only hand picked chumps for mma.
roger is only mid 20's. he will dominate for many years to come.
bjj is now worldwide, not just in brazil.

I agree with you, but you must take into consideration the fact that they have 20 years apart. Athletes evolve parallel to their sport, meaning they bring the level up, and a high level of skills forces them to evolve too - it raises the bar overall.
Who knows what rickson could've achieved if he was in his mid 20's.
I just don't really agree on comparing prime to prime because the overall expected level, techniques, environment were different.

What do you mean Roger is Partially a Gracie? Read the book Carlos Gracie and you will be surprised at what you will discover. Roger Gracie is the best Gracie out there....Rickson was awesome but Roger is in the level that Rolls was....Rolls is the one that used to to tap Rickson.....

Man, Rolls was a hardcore BJJ guy, but according to the book you mentioned, Rickson was some good years younger than Rolls. And I believe that "younger" in this context means "some years less BJJ experience".
Altough, I both both were/are legends what they proposed to be as their life and profession.

as big a rickson fan i am u have to bring in mind that the people he faced where not nearly as well trained as roger's oponents. the game changed, people aare technical in multiple arts. no doubt roger best bjj in the world right now and his mma future seems to have a bright future. but until he has more fights, can't campare them yet

Well I think Roger has done more in bjj than Rickson already.... ADCC and all the modern bjj tornaments which have a higher talent level today than back in the 80's and 90's..... everything evolves.

Rickson was a great guy but bjj wasent established like todayit was a different era.... things have changed.

To this day no one in the family is as good as Rickson was or still is! Rickson still taps out the very best of the Gracie's in practice. Saulo is in awe of him, Xande eyes glowed in a conversation about him, And when asked is Rickson all that people say, Renzo responded "He is more, much, much more" Sure Roger is good but he is only partially a Gracie, his Father is the Famous Mauricio Gomes! Roger's mother is a Gracie., she is Rolls Gracie sister! No one yet can take Rickson place!

im a guy that follows mma and juijitsu is a thinking mans game it has less to do with strength and speed than stand up thats why some people find it boring but if u know what they are doing its pretty tight to watch
