  • @tmorant thanks

  • The doctor fails to mention that foot drop can be linked to endometriosis. An article has been published on this topic in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry 1991;54:935-940.

'Pelvic endometriosis is a common gynaecological disorder. While usually involving the ovaries, uterosacral ligaments and pelvic peritoneum, it may rarely invade the sciatic nerve and its plexus.'

  • @wobblechopps MAY NEED TENDON TRANSFERS

  • @nabilebraheim will that still mean that i won't ever make a full recovery ? and thank you for your reply :)

  • @wobblechopps see a doc

    tendon transfer may help you

  • Long story short. Neurologist determined my Peroneal nerve from my knee down was damaged. Had every symptom of Foot drop including massive numbing. Based of many tests estimated heal time was 3 years nerve 10 years for numbness to go away. I wore a ankle brace I bought from Frys (Gel Padding), took massive amounts of L-Glutamine, Massive amounts of vegetables and ULTRA healthy diet, applied heat and stimulated the muscle with exercises. Fully healed in 5 months. Both doctors were surprised.

  • @V8SplashMan great story

    thanks

  • Is there a cure for foot drop? I have a pinched sural nerve, and also had a bad sprain. Since the sprain, I have foot drop in my left foot. I have seen braces that help, but those don't exactly cure the condition. I don't think the pinched nerve has any correlation with the foot drop problem. I just think the sprain left some damage. The pain is on the medial side, not the lateral side.

  • @americangirlballet need to see a doc and get EMG AND NERVE STUDIES

  • @bobbymon111 thanks

  • Fantastic video. I really learned a great deal of information.

  • @NYOrthoRN thanks

  • EMG test resulted in minor responses from the nerve. I go back in 3 months for another emg. All i want to say is, if your upset about your injury...just think it could be a lot worse. Strap that AFO on and get walking! I cant lift my foot yet(after 7 weeks) and I dont know if i ever will be able to, but i have accepted that...anything else is bonus. I will post again in a month or so to update my status...and it would be kool to hear other progress reports! Thanks, Dave from Canada. AFO ftw.

  • Hi, Im Dave, 22 from Canada. I was running on the baseball diamond and hyper-extended my right leg/knee. What resulted was acl/lcl damage and also foot drop. I couldnt feel the middle top of my foot, or top of my ankle or lower half of right leg. After 7 weeks I can feel 90% of my lower leg, and 4 toes and most of the top of my foot. I still cant lift it yet though. ACL reconstruction surgery in 1 week. What I wanted to say was, i was pretty depressed for a while, it got better after the AFO.

  • @crashdaveAAKK Your injury/story is almost identical to mine. I too hyper-extended my knee(left), resulting in the same ACL/LCL damage but luckily it was only a first degree tear meaning I didn't need surgery. It's been 10 months since my injury and I'm still dealing with drop foot. It has gotten a lot better though, I can move 4 of my toes and my ankle a bit.

  • good video sir

  • @MrVickydoc thanks

  • i got accident 2years ago, disk of ATV bike got inside my leg and distoryed all muscle and nerves of left leg, doctor hurried to close wounded place they didnt check nerve situation, they said got to wait 6months, after 6months i have foot drop, some parf of my foot i feel some part i dont, wounded place was so long, doct said we dont know if its cuted nerve or gone, what do u think doc?

  • @marichalallal may be from the nerve injury

it also can result frommuscle injury

    get EMG and nerve studies

  • I have this problem, after a long battle with doctors, I had a disectomy L5 S1 region. lossof sensation in left leg and foot, but shooting pains... 2 and a half years later I wear an AFO (ankle foot orthosis) and a dynamic knee brace! I canot stand long or walk far I am 48 and the most active person! I have had EMG tests and the nerve is dead!!!! Can I still get a nerve graft to regenerate it? THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO IT'S THE 1ST TIME I HAVE EVER SEEN IT IN ACTION

  • @ger0863 NEE TO SEE A DOC TO SEE IF THE NERVE IS COMPRESSED

  • I recently learned that I have an L5 bulging disc which I believe is causing my left foot drop. Your video helped me to understand the connection between the bulging disc and my foot drop. None of my specialist doctors have been able to find the cause of my foot drop, as my EMG, spinal tap, MRIs and CT scans of my leg, hips and back are "normal", only showing arthritis in the L3-L6 region. What kind of treatments are available for bulging discs? P.S. Could past chemo have caused any of this?

  • @SenseShine1 a bad disc can cause a foot drop

  • @nabilebraheim I have foot drope 1.5 year ago i had to stay 3 months in hospital cause from a injury in my right lower leg, i felt cause i jumped badly , i got blooding inside my right lower leg 3 days, i know that something is wrong with me, and i went to the doctor. The doctors said that place died and have to cut it 3/4 of the muscle!

And now i cant lift up my foot, just mm! I want to ask you if that muscle can regenerate?

  • @matematika3 get a nerve study and check

  • this video has eased my mind .Iwas told by my dr i had foot drop [casually] but as im 66 and a smoker i was expecting to lose my foot/leg and as i live on a hill it would be very awkward going for a pint

  • @6629jones good luck

  • I have fracture malleoli lateralis and i wear gympsum (cast) for 6 weeks, cast damage my peroneal nerv under knee, now i m on rehabilitation and i have recovered a lot but i can' t move my toes and i can' t walk on heels :) what do you think how much recovery continue ? :) Thanks :)

  • @94brigate get EMG

    check recovery

    check progress

    may take several month

last one to recover is the big toe

the first one is the anle dorsiflexion

  • @nabilebraheim Thank you :) I have done EMG :) Doctor says me it s a local paralisation :) but it wil recover : what it is the most important :)

  • @94brigate watch the recovery

    be patient

  • @nabilebraheim thankss :))

  • thank you very very much

    realy nice video

  • after 2 years of using support ankle( first stiff/rigid and then flexible),..now he walk WITHOUT support ankle since about 3 months ago, althought the ankle is not back 100%(at least it can move up ward 90 degree,..not 120- degree)..hope the info can help.

  • @misterdinar1

    thanks a lot

  • my dad has this since 2009,...but he always say thank GOD that he still a live....because he was 7 week in breathing machine,..now 2011 his foot drop start to improve,...he is doing almost every day:

1.streching the ankle by moving back his foot drop leg. 2.walking by moving the toe up and control the flapping(pretty hard at the beginning).

3.balancing exercise on the foot drop leg,...start standing for 100 counts ,in the foot drop leg.

  • Common causes of damage to the peroneal nerve include the following:

Trauma or injury to the knee

Fracture of the fibula (a bone of the lower leg)

Use of a tight plaster cast (or other long-term constriction) of the lower leg

    Habitual leg crossing

    Regularly wearing high boots

Pressure to the knee from positions during deep sleep or coma

    Injury during knee surgery.
