@xxpiggystardustxx yes..i love the place,and i miss it terribly...and yet i know there's no going back ....i do go back there in the literal sense,but when i'm there i see and talk to more ghosts that actual living people . ireland is a great place...a real blessing to have been brought up there.i hold it very close.....hiraeth is exactly the word for it.

Paddy Reilly does a nice interpretation of this song & captures the flavor & the nationalism inherent in the Irish pub scene! Your rendition however is so haunting & emotional & goes beyond the spirit of the song! It's suppose to be in Carrickfergus, but u take it somewhere else...& we're with u all the way!

I found this video and this ballad, which I have never heard before, by chance. I checked out other versions on u-tube, but none of them came even close to yours. There is a yearning, a feeling of regret and a feeling of place in this song and you have captured it perfectly. Just a guy with a guitar, a folk ballad and an amazing voice...but this moves me.
