Taken from a news article 11 years ago, I can only imagine what the numbers are now..."Why blacks contribute about half of all prison inmates when they are only 13 percent of the U.S. population is subject to much speculation." @feanor --I don't think its a good idea to point out race unless it is necessary or for learning puposes. I have a lot of family from MI and the level of distrust of blacks is disheartening. I'm hispanic but I felt predujice against me the first time I met my wife's family. Now that they know me they love me, but they started out treating me poorly because of the negative stereotypes that they heard. The bigger issue is not color but socioeconomic, poor whites would do the same.
