How to Use the Windows Event Viewer

That means I have to go through 27,000 events on the net to find my problem.But why does it knock me offline

My event Viewer comes on by itself and then I cant get back on the network,I gotta call my ISP to get back on plus it shows 27,000 something warnings.Can somebody please tell me how to fix it.

If the event viewer gets disabled will it tell you and if so where? This can help to be sure people aren't snooping on your pc.

If it records the log ons then you would know.

Thank you. I was already aware of the event viewer. but is it possible to setup a custom view in the vent viewer to only show certain codes like 12 and 13 for system shutdown and startup, every time you look into this event-log?

what i usually do is hit the sort at date/time column, and then scroll using the page-up/page-down to find the 12 and 13. or other numbers. Im just too lazy to figure it all out 'myself i guess. Event viewer in win7 has grown extensively!
