Given that this type of music is a bit off the beaten path, I give Ms Bartoli the highest marks for extending herself to bring off this feat, for it is really a feast to listen to her passion and her love of the lore of her chosen craft. This is amazing. I've been Bartoli's fan since the 1980's, and I find her truly amazing, in spite of what many say. Her virtuosism is almost unmatched I would say and one thing is true, these arias only work if sung by true virtuosos, and in my humble opinion we don't have many of them nowadays, but anyway we are lucky to have some who are singing these baroque gems, Bartoli, Kermes, Genaux. Thanks for posting, I'm anxiously waiting for the Sacrificium CD I've order...

Questo è uno dei brani meglio riusciti di tutto il disco; lo sto ascoltando in questi giorni ed è davvero eccellente. Poi si sa: la Bartoli o la si ama o la detesta, comunque non lascia indifferenti. Forse un filo eccessiva nella vocalizzazione sempre troppo carica di foga, ma le cadenze sono da brivido come sempre. E aggiungerei un "grandioso" all'orchestra!

Là, Mme Bartoli a fini de m'émouvoir. Pourtant c'était bien parti quand à 20 ans j'écoutais passionement son album des airs antiques, puis de Rossini, à 30 ans Vivaldi, magnifique. Not a very pleasing aria, but certainly a real "tour de force". But I have a doubt. Has she been helped somehow by fine "editing" in the recording session? She goes for so long in a single breath that seems quite impossible. I would love to hear her singing this live in one of her concerts to compare. : )

Je l'ai vue en concert à Martigny en Suisse le 1er septembre : elle n'a pas pu tricher et je peux dire que ses vocalises et la longueur du souffle sont incroyables.... Au-delà de la technique pure, elle est une artiste d'une incroyable sensibilité et donne tout à son public.
