  • great song and live gig

  • my favourite writer with my favourite band.

  • I think it says "In an Autumn tint so cold"

  • this is my favorite poem, and u did a great job making it into a song

  • It's so sad that this band is so Underated and Unknown to the Masses...Garbages cover all the good bands

  • My favorite from them, I remember I used to play Civilization 2 while listening to Alone on repeat, singing like crazy.

I should try getting this DVD as this will forever be one of my favorites even though they've stopped playing together.

  • @MagnumCrackoff

Thanks for recommending these guys. Great sound! It's shame they split. Are any of these guys active in other bands now?

  • @JohnEBMcC I know Anders Kobro(drummer) a bit and talk to him. He is Carpathian Forest's drummer. He has a few bands too on the side. Tchort (guitars)was in Blood Red Throne, I think... The others, I am not sure of. I know most of them were in a band called In The Woods too. Their "Heart of Ages" album is awesome:)This concert is awesome!!!

  • @godawefulll

Thanks for info! I'll check out the bands and albums you've noted!! (Right now am still taking in as much PT and SW collaborations, Opeth, and Riverside as possible..and can't get enough :))

    Cheers,

    ~John

  • @JohnEBMcC No problem. Wikipedia has good info too. I love The Tree and Opeth too!!!;)

  • @MagnumCrackoff man. that's what i would call 'Single song obsessive-compulsive disorder'

  • @Neueregel Hehe, can't disagree with you on that one!

  • such an amazing concert

wow i wish i could have seen these guys live

    really great band

  • perfect.

  • One of my favourites from the acoustic verses, and btw, these guys deserve more popularity.

  • my favorite from acoustic verses

  • genial!!!

  • nice

  • Still mourning... Green Carnation

  • what a wonderful song, from a wonderful band.. too bad they split :\

  • wow great interpretation of an awesome poem =O

  • I really like this song... it's very good!

  • uhhh they were a progressive death metal band! Check out their last three albums! They aint progressive death metal anymore! No Sir!

  • this song sounds so much more better with drums. but i hate the sound of electic violins. they sounds soo.. flat... but still a brillient song

  • I LOVE GREEN CARNATION ♥-♥

  • the guitarist has the same guitar as me, and i love this song and this band,

i need to get more of there detah metal stuff though

  • Hah wished I had that guitar :p just one thing: this isn't death metal ;-) i'd say rather progressive..

  • yeah but they do play death metal, they allso play progessive and acoustic

  • Oh that will be some of their older songs I didn't know =)

  • yeah, they are a progressive death metal band. This album was just them venturing into more calm territory. Sort of similar to what Opeth did when they released Damnation. If you like this band you should check out Opeth and Damnation. If you like that album you'll surely like their death metal stuff. Bands like Opeth and Green Carnation show that death metal can be beautiful and melodic. Not just grinding and ear-splitting. Though that is nice sometimes

  • Yea, I'm already a huge Opeth-fan so i know all of their records :p does GC still exists though =/?

  • That's good to hear. Gonna see them on the 17th. Im not sure if GC is still around, i think I'd heard somewhere that they've disbanded.

  • I'll see them in August on Pukkelpop I think. Also Porcupine Tree is coming to Belgium on the 14th October :D You know PT? Hope GC is not disbanded, at least want to see them once =/

  • yeah porcupine tree is amazing. But I live in the US and I don't think they ever tour here.

  • Well, they have been in Chicago a while ago when recording their dvd :p hope for you they'll come to the US again =) have you heard Steven Wilson's solo album?

  • oh really? Well I live in the west part of the country in Arizona so I probably wouldnt have gotten to see them anyway. I haven't heard it yet but my friend told me it was quite good.

  • Yes its really a fantastic album. Well lets pray that they'll come to Arizone once =D

  • Oh I found something out! (Porcupine Tree) Sep 15 2009 SEATTLE, USA: Moore Theater Sep 16 2009 PORTLAND, USA: Roseland Sep 18 2009 SAN FRANCISCO: Warfield Sep 19 2009 LOS ANGELES, USA: Club Nokia Sep 21 2009 CLEVELAND, USA: House of Blues Sep 22 2009 CHICAGO, USA: Vic Theater Sep 24 2009 NEW YORK, USA: Terminal 5 Sep 26 2009 PHILADELPHIA, USA: Electric Factory Sep 27 2009 BOSTON, USA: House of Blues Sep 29 2009 MONTREAL, Canada: Metropolis Sep 30 2009 TORONTO, Canada: Queen
  • Rather prog doom. They only had an early death metal demo and after that a few death growls on LoDDoD, but nothing more.

  • Though not vocally, they always had plenty of death metal and melodeath influenced riffs.

  • just PERFECT...

  • This one reminds me of some Blackmore's Night stuff. Amazing song from a pretty unique band in the metal world!

  • The first time I got ever heard Green Carnation was because I was looking for the "Alone" done by Arcturus... I found this one and from the same second I was sold.

Equally as good as the Arcturus one but in a different way. Now I listen to this one at least once a day and can't get enough of it.

  • mihail esti un nesimtit cum iti permiti

  • also my favorite eap poem...the song is lovely. thanks so much for posting it.

  • this is my favorite poem by edgar allan poe. i'm glad they converted it into something beautifully musical.

  • yes I agree. Arcturus' version sounds more like black metal.

  • that's why it's less good

  • I know this song from in the woods too. and the comment about 'It sounds more like black metal' wasn't based on green carnation.
