Saw Bagyula jump in person at George Mason several times - Amazing. I still hold the IC4A Decathlon Pole Vault record 19997 George Mason at 17ft. Wish I would have kept training after college or just focused on Vaulting instead of the Deca. Technique is important but at some point it all comes down to speed - Bubka was a 10.2 - 100 meters.
Bagyula & Tarasov @ 1988 World Juniors 5:46 & 6:09. Bagyula height 5.65m equalled World Junior record which I think Gatuallin set in 1984. Last two clips of Bubka's 6.05m & 6.06m in Bratislava & Nice in 1988. Nice compilation of jumps.
Very nice video!
