  • Shin Tetsujin confirmed for SRW Z2-2

  • Fun fact: The growl you heard from Tetsujin was actually Giant Robo's growl and Murasame Kenji in this anime uses the Giant Robo characterization rather than the original one.

  • Having watched this series from beginning to end, I can't help but feel that the opening is meant to be ironic. It's upbeat and cheerful, it sounds like an anthem, and yet much of the series is rather depressing.

  • @TrejoDuneSea Obviously you'd never seen Victory Gundam.

  • This anime looks fukkin awesome

  • This intro is so goddamn catchy

  • When america "accidentally" bomb on Japan japanese people made this cartoon after war had been finished. Surprised that robot is going ape shit in usa?

  • Gosh a lot idiots commented on this.

I think this is great for an old classic re-done.

  • What is this? The sequel to Kiki's Delivery Service?

I kid, but if it weren't for the character designs, it would look as if this anime were a spinoff of sorts to the film.

I like original intro as well because this one is too anthemy for my tastes

  • Song remind me some nazi anthem lol

  • I FOUND IT!!! On a street of buildings, he roars/On the night highway, he roars

    Da-da-da-da-daan, the bullets come flying

    Ba-ba-ba-ba-baan, things explode

    Flying with a whoosh, it's Tetsujin 28-gou (1)

At times, he's an ally of justice/At times, he's the devil's tool

Good or bad, it depends on the remote control

Tetsujin! Tetsujin! Where are you going?

    Flying with a whoosh, it's Tetsujin 28-gou.

  • Biru no machi ni gaoo/Yoru no haiuei ni gaoo Dadadadadaan to dangan ga kuru Bababababaan to haretsusuru Byuun to hindeku/Tetsujin nijuu-hachi gou Aru toki wa seigi no mikata Aru toki wo akuma no tesaki Ii mo omoi mo rimokon shitai Tetsujin tetsujin doko he yuku Byuun to hindeku Tetsujin nijuu-hachi gou That's the Japanese phonetic version.
  • Fun Fact: Did you know that the term 'shota' actually derived from this anime? ;P Oh, Shotarou... look at the stuff you make us do. YOU BAD BOY YOU.

  • @AntheaFranco (I mean the original, of course.)

  • gigantor the great big robot?

  • where can i get this on dvd because i can't find it?

  • Why the predecessor of all Super Robots (yes, he's older than Mazinger Z) has yet to appear in Super Robot Wars, I wish to know.

  • @JanusHoW i would like to see him in one of those games ,but if they add him they should make the gameplay like all giant robots should fight: a rockemsockem murderlizeemcrushem destroyem type pf gameplay rather than the crappy turn based system.no offense if you like the turn based gameplay but do you expect giant weapons of mass destruction to simply stand there and wait til' its opponent hit him so he could hit back?hell no.

  • what are the lyrics in english?

  • @diddymuck I dunno but these are the words form Gigantor the US version:

    Gigantor the space age robot,

    He is at your command!

    Gigantor the space age robot,

The power is in your hands!

Bigger than big, taller than tall,

Quicker than quick, stronger than strong!

Ready to fight for right against wrong!

which by the way was brilliant when I watched it as a 3 and 4 year old!

  • This is glorious.

  • got this on DVD last christmas. didn't stop watching it for ages. So awsome.

  • The 1980 remake was much better than this!!

  • how does it fly perpendicular to the ground without an air foil?

  • @diddymuck It's a super robot. Stop trying to apply logic to super robots, it ruins the fun.

  • You said it before I did!! you are awesome men!

  • This version of the theme tune sounds like a communist military march.

  • Hmm, sad to say it's suprisingly un-impressive. I was looking forward to a "shiny new outlook on the franchise" like what Astro Boy/ Tetsuwan Atom 2003 brought to the table.

They didn't even make Shotaro any kind of cute!

  • @UTAU53Yui I think you're mad. This is pretty much the best version of tetsujin 28th we ever had. honestly one of the best mecha shows of the decade.

  • @SatanBla Well, I haven't watched it :/ I've only seen this trailer. Tetsujin 28 is an awesome show, I know that from the few English eps I stumbled upon on Adult Swim, but this remake doesn't seem to shine like the Astro Boy remake. The art direction doesn't impress me, and the colors are dull.

Of course, looks don't matter when the content is good, but I'm just going by looks for now. I know I'll watch it sometime.

  • @UTAU53Yui

It wasn't trying to accomplish the same thing as the Astro Boy remake and a bright and colorful post WWII Japan would've been really weird.

  • @Obviously Wasn't Astro Boy originally post-WWII? (whereas in the remake they just sorta merged Tokyo and the surrounding areas into Metro City and strayed away from using real-world country names; this is all speculated, or course)

  • @UTAU53Yui

Nope, the original Astro Boy took place in the future.

  • @Obviously Oh, right, right. getting time periods mixed up.

  • @UTAU53Yui It shouldn't be shiny and all, because this tetsujin 28th series is depressing as fuck and the art direction totally reflects that. honestly, don't judge the looks and dive straight in it. it's honestly way better than the astro boy remake we had in 2003.

  • @SatanBla Right, right... well, I'll hold back my rage, and take your word for it. I know it'll still be a LOOOOOONG time till I get over this Atom phase, what with my newly discovered subbed Shin Tetsuwan Atom episodes and the manga and all...

  • @UTAU53Yui well it's directed by imagawa after all. not a lot of directors can direct like he does. if you're still in your atom phase, then just go read the pluto manga by naoki urasawa.

  • @SatanBla My Atom phase makes me unable to process Atom without delicious booty shorts.

  • The villians are BIG FIRE!

  • no guriko?

  • cool anime. this is a good way to seperate anime from cartoons, cause it seems quite a few people can't tell the difference :/

  • If Japan has soo many giant robots... Why do they make SOO TINY CARS!?

Is my Datsun ZX a core fighter for a gundam somewhere that couldnt get in beacuse california said "They have bad emmitions" If yes IAM GETTIN THAT ROBOT HERE!

  • o shit its gigantor

  • @toadenk yes in japan hes called Tetsujin 28 or translated thats Ironman 28

  • Where I can download this movie?

  • the way they animate tetsujin's armor shell makes me wanna think its actly some sortof flexable rubbery metalish alloy with a more flexing version at the joints and actuly ecloses an organic/cybernetic body, more like an eva style robot, to see a fanart of tetsujin 28 drawn in a eva rotot style but with a more thick build vs. the ninja look the evas have would be awsome, and have the mouthguard oopen up to reveal huge round teeth and gums, and also have the face area be skin with large slit eyes

  • The principal character has got a new look! :D

  • @CaptainScarlet2006 I disagree.

  • Good stuff right here....

  • Yokoyama would spin in his grave! He was a sonofabitch anyway.

    This is superb retro work!

    The natives are impressed!

  • kickass anime

  • Why do you say the clean opening in the video description?

  • @Silverjag1997 It's "clean" in the sense that it lacks credits or other text.

  • if someone can tell me where to find the lyrics of this opening that be nice. this anime in general is one of my favorites.

  • Why does this show have to be so fucking hard to find

  • Gaooooooooooooooo‼

  • I like this version

  • This looks interesting.

  • I'll grant you that.The 80s Tetsujin/Gigantor looked very cool indeed!

  • Theme song or show?

Personally I think they're both brilliant

  • This is a remake of the 60s one, not the 80s Tetsujin 28 though.

  • @Mr. Harles74

Tetsujin of 80's is not Tetsujin when seeing from the Japanese.

Tetsujin of 2004 versions is the nearest the original cartoon.

    watch?v=6ToAsuSgNQc

  • The newest one was utter brilliance.

  • is Tetsujin biger than gundam ?

  • Its bigger than big.

    What do you think!

  • I'm watching this one now, since I'm a big Imagawa fan.

  • Wouldn't it be cool if if this intro was set to the Gigantor theme?

  • Just to listen to this people:

    watch?v=r_MM7DFJ8b8&eur

  • How the F does this relate to the original Tetsujin ?!

    I mean, shit

  • Are you sure you're not thinking of the '80s remake?

Because this is a remake of the ORIGINAL Tetsujin. From the 1960s. The one they used footage of to make 'Gigantor'. This is basically a big-budget version of the original 1960s theme song.

It's actually the third time it's been remade. You linked to the first re-make, which was also dubbed in English.

  • nahhh!!

much better the old tetsujin/ironman/gigantor/super robot

  • nice song, if i only know wat thay mean

  • Four years before this animation was made, we released a full-color comics series in year 2000 of the US version titled:Gigantor. Interestingly some of the detail errors we made compared to the original 1963 version seemed to have creeped up in this 2004 animation version. I still love the Japanese version theme song.

  • This is the remake of the original sixties Tetsujin 28 opening... i love it

  • always been curious...when jimmy is flown in 28/Gigantor's hands, what keeps him from falling out??? It is jet propulsion after all.

  • Simple answer: FORCEFIELDS!

    Complex answer: See simple.

  • You win.

  • Reminds me of Big O

  • Announcement

Ironman 28 will air again on Hero tv Philippines.

Call your local cable operator now. If you using TFC. Because your comments if came from the states :D

  • tetsujin will whoop optimus's arse anytime.

  • megatron as well?

  • Why is there so may characters and sound effects taken from Giant Robo?

Are they going to try and tie the characters continuity together or something?

  • They weren't taken from Giant Robo, those characters in Giant Robo were taken from the original Tetsujin 28. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is an homage of all of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's work so it uses characters from all of his manga even though most of them are unrelated.

  • I need to watch this now, also does the Detective from the IPO, who came from this as you know, still unable to die, in this show.

  • Kenji Murasame? He's not invincible anymore, but he fakes his own death at one point...

  • Alright, so it was just something they did for Giant Robo OVA.

-I WANT THEM TO FINISH THAT! D:

  • @Obviously He does have Giant Robo's 'GAO', though.

But they're both directed by Imagawa, so I'll allow it. :)

  • Maybe because Yokoyama also created "Giant Robo" as well.

  • Is Eiji immortal in this?

  • No, Giant Robo takes character designs from tons of Mitsuteru Yokoyama anime and makes them into completely different characters.

  • gigantor still sounds cooler this anime makes me feel like im 5 again just stellar please go buy it.

  • 80's tetsujin 28 is better

  • it was original and felt more natural

the one did look alot better though

I liked the old black and white tetsujin better though

  • this was worth the 40 bucks, say wasnt there a anime movie baised of the ova?

  • the kid drives a car?

  • HE also drives a controls a super robot. But I guess that doesn't matter, HE DRIVES A CAR!?

  • It's deliciously fresh and wonderfully nostalgic all at the same time!

  • If anyone hasn't seen any of this series of Tetsujin, I heartily recommend it - utterly charming without being too kiddy.

  • Oh man, watching this with the classic theme makes me feel like I'm 5 years old again.

  • I like the Iron man 28 in the 80's , he looks fat now lol

  • dude the animation in this OVA is amazing.

  • That's usually how OVAs are. Fewer episodes to worry about, so you can funnel more money into each individual one.

  • Dude! where did this come from? I'm an old school Tetsujin 28 fan of the american gigantor, and of all the incarnations and remakes. This one is the best i've seen. So true to the characters, but with a real world look about it. Where can I buy this? It rocks. PS. Jimmy Sparks face looks a little goofy at times. Mouth not centered.

  • It's a 26 episode TV series that was released here in the US by Geneon, who are now out of business. The series itself focuses a lot on the social issues facing Japan shortly after World War 2, while throwing in some old school robot action for good measure.

Just search for Tetsujin 28 on Amazon, you can't miss it.

  • can u get the dvds at best buy

  • OHHHH!QUE BUEN REMAKE!!!!!

  • I wish they would make a crossover between Giant Robo and Tetsujin 28 fighting each other, then make friends, then fight the bad guys.

  • I think they did something like that once on some lame Giant Robo ripoff.

  • They sort of did this in Ginrei Special, not a Giant Robo rip-off but rather an official parody.

  • Yet even so it still sucked

  • Ah, a very iconic character of japanese animation. Win.

Didn't the original have him fighting '20s bootleggers and the KKK?

  • woow... that song is a hymn to the heroism!.. ese tema es un himno al heroismo!!... heroico el op !

  • Imagawa you're my hero!! I pray someone picks up the license for this show.

  • It was licensed by Geneon a while ago. I actually got this opening from the box set.

  • I wanted the original

    to broadcast it faithfully.

  • parece algunos personajes de GIANT ROBO.

  • cool.

  • That theme song is lawl.

  • If Godzilla is the King of the Monsters, then Tetsujin 28 is the King of the Robots. ^_^

  • Yeah, either Tetsujin or Mazinger Z.

  • Its kind a scary how it sounds like Gigantor/Tetsujin is roaring when he poses. And how was he able to slice that other robot in half?

  • I love the song~^w^

  • Do they use 3D CGI for the robots? Because if so, it's remarkably well integrated with the regular animation.

  • Zoom! Goes flying Tetsujin... Number twenty eight!

  • Can somebody download the episodes for this anime, PLEASE!!?
