@martmelee It's only personal prefs. what you like. But UI-way it IS better to have them to the left. Consider where the text mostly is and where the mouse is in a window. If you use scripts that is right-left orientated, like arabic or hewbrew(sp?) text, you want have it the old way.
As usually, you can always change them as you like. But I think they will use the window bar for status information in the future, so it will be better this way.
Looks like your running an alpha version of 10.04, that was how the buttons were laid out back then. Now it is still on the left side but the order is close,minimize,maximize:menu...

It is gconf-editor and NOT gconfig-editor like he says in the video.

I use Ubuntu Tweak to move those window buttons on the right side. Great tweak video, though.

you can take lucid of the title and just put ubuntu and mint.. because.. this works with all distros based on debian.... that's only if you want to..

i just clicked on the New Wave theme that has buttons on the right by default and went customizing from there.
Anyway what do you use for screen recording that run so smooth?I just found vlc to work for me so far (still doesn't record audio tough).
