  • nice fusion. To be played under the influence of..

  • This has so much potential, but alas it is not fully realized. If the sitar-player was in the same category as, say Ananda Shankar, this would be riveting. As it stands however, this only gets a luke-warm review from me.

  • @kariaudar who cares..

  • he's trying to play malkauns but his chaal is not right !!! sitar is nt to be played like this !! jimmy played malkauns better !!! believe me ! :)

  • the guy playing the sitar looks like an old pete townsend and the drummer is a splitting image for a young keith moon!

  • the guy playing the sitar looks like an old pete townsend and the drummer is a splitting image for a young kieth moon!

  • Marsicano é PHODA!!!!

    Go véi!

  • The drugs the sitar player has access to are much better than his playing. Listen to some Indian masters, this guy is a poser wanna be.

  • @mlcoo17 awesome comment. especially since i'm a sitarist. drugs are necessary to deal with peoples comments on youtube. but he could be better, but good transposing tho. some spots not so much.

  • I think this fucker tripped REEEEEEEEAAAL hard one night and saw Ravi Shankar, and just formatted his brain to that image.

  • sweet video .. sitar is amazing,

  • ha anautumwind i wish i said that

  • this is not Hendrix music, and less a proper sitar playing, you need sitar techniques class

  • I'm not sold on this idea.

  • this is shitey..bassist & drummer suck..& the way this guy plays the sitar does NOT do the instrument justice.

  • wow great

  • wow, it sounds great. more of this music!

  • The major sitarist of Brazil is Dhaivat Raj(my space). Contatos para shows 11-85110347. Aulas para ¨sitaristas brasileiros¨ curso apostilado e com tabla, aprende-se a executar 3 ragas com as tecnicas do sitar em 1 ano!

  • this guy sucks.. doesnt have clue of pitch or rhythm..

  • @dicer0llin67 you suck, his pitch and rhythm is fine man

  • Dhaivat Raj in my space the major sitarist in Brazil!

  • Wtf

  • 1:31 is internet gold.

  • not bad, sounds nice and dirty.

  • Yeah - but can he play it behind his back or with his teeth? What about running it through a wah-wah? Fuzzbox? Echoplex? And where's the whammy bar?

    Just having fun.

    Outstanding!

  • Yeah - but can he play it behind his back or with his teeth? What about running it through a wah-wah? Fuzzbox? Echoplex? And where's the whammy bar?

    Just having fun.

    Outstanding!

  • jajaja que buen curro presentaron al viejo chalero como un astro jaja

  • Sweet! Love it! :)

  • they should at least put in some more mellow beats, and slow down the sitar playing so it sounds good on that particular insturment. then it would at least be a little better

  • This is fucking awesome!

  • hehe bielszy odcień ragi Bhairavi

  • this is fucking awful

  • After Ben Franklin discovered LSD he was never the same again.

  • @AnAutumnWind

    Now that's funny!

  • @AnAutumnWind this is the best youtube comment I've read in weeks. Well played sir

  • @AnAutumnWind Hahaha.

  • @AnAutumnWind lmao, hands down funniest comment iv ever seen on youtube

  • @AnAutumnWind

    lol

  • @AnAutumnWind HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @AnAutumnWind Ben Franklin on LSD Ha Ha! you couldn't said anything funnier than that for sure!

  • Combining sitar-music and Hendrix-rock is a brilliant concept. I wonder why no-one thought of it before . . .?

  • this is NOTsitar music...

hardly even a hippy facsimile of it

  • is it just me, or does the drummer look real similar to keith moon?

  • @MrBonethrower and the sitar player looks like a creation of Ed Martin.

  • @MrBonethrower correction: Don Martin

  • correction: YOU ARE A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG.

  • if jimi hendrix had been indian wed all be playing sitars now instead of stratocasters

  • extremely good point

  • lol ur right...

  • This works for me!

  • Dude, this is rad, Khudos to those guys.

  • Just so everybody commenting on this video knows, nobody will ever take your argument seriously when you spell "your" as "ur" and other such moronic abbreviations.

This is a cool video. I like the idea of mixing the sitar into a contemporary rock group such as this. Maybe if people just learn to take things as they are and understand that you can't change that, you will find yourself enjoying things a lot more too.

  • tosser

  • Cool story, bro

  • i didn't think anyone took youtube comments seriously anyway.

  • it went to gather just like peanut butter and jelly

  • Coveringeternity: I, like you, am a great admirer of Hindustani classical music. But I think you should go easier on Marsicano: he´s not attempting to play sitar classical style and so should not be judged by that standard. As simple rock music spiced with a sitar, this is not a half-bad effort, in my humble opinion . . .

  • LOVE sitars....and LOVE Hendrix...so it's just two great things put together. awessseooommmee!!

  • i prefer Steps myself...

  • coveringeternity.... your a retard.. thats not supposed to be classical indian music... HES PLAYING FRIGGING ROCK SO ... fuck off with being insulted because its ANOTHER form of music using a sitar.

  • Non sense

  • Mr. Marsicano if you dont know how to play the Sitar then 1st learn it and then play....BUT YOU DONT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO INSULT THIS DIVINE MUSICAL INTRUMENT OF INDIA, HER TRADITION, AND PURITY. With this kind of cheap and bogus stufs you are insulting INDIAN tradition and making a fun of it. At the same time you are misguiding the audience and depriving them from the original and true nature of Hindustani Classical Music.

  • bs any artist can pick up any instrument and do with it what they will, by subscribing and devoting yourself to any single form, u are advocating repression, humanity.... DO WHAT U WILL, as u have always done, ur idea of intellectuality is sorely mistaken, coveringeternity, ur a sad close minded soul, all purists are miserable......

  • if he bought it, he technically can do whatever he wants with it. and how is he depriving people of the true nature of hindustani music when this never claimed to be it? It clearly says "sitar hendrix"

  • the beatles did it first

  • twisted man

  • is that supposed to be voodoo child ? ;D

  • Awsome Stuff Here....I favorited this one

    keep the music comming

  • if they wanted to make this cooler they shouldve had a stand up bass and those little indian percussians i dont know what the hell there called though

  • Tablas, the small cyllindrical box like....id guess

  • tabla

  • it's pretty freaky :)

  • where's the tabla at : (

    we need tabla with sitar

  • ok...... do eat the brown acid!

holy crap keath moon alive and well drumming for timothy leary!

i dont think im high enough for this.

  • i think the only thing this guy has in common with hendrix is he's probably taken a shite load of acid...sorry to dis but calling yourself sitar hendrix is bollocks, very average playing

  • actually he doesn't call himself sitar hendrix... his name is alberto marsicano, sitar hendrix is the name of one of his albums where he covers some of jimi's songs.

  • woa dude come back down

  • Relax, dude. Maybe you were searching "hendrix" or something, and are unfamiliar with the sitar, but I think the Sitar is one of the sexiest instruments... and I think he is pretty good. But, that's just my opinion, and I think country... well, new country sucks. That is also my opinion. But, if I come across a country song, I don't just say "this sucks." I might say, " well, this isn't really something I like" if anything at all, and I'd only say something if I find something I DO like about it

  • trop planant comme musique

Génial l'idée de jouer du Jimi avec une sitare!!!

  • I would luv to catch that show Live !!

    EXCELLENT !!

  • dental care is so important

  • need to find another bassist and drummer

  • cool! im a guitar player, but i would like to get me one of these! very nice instrument

  • guy looks possessed, haha, hes so into it. hes amazing

  • the 60's were very good to this man

  • dude he's only 14

  • @stargate669 Just want you to know you made my day. :p

  • @stargate669 the drummer?

  • Vous etes betes...

  • quoi de mal de dans? Putin.

  • he plays with his soul like Jimi !

come on to discover an other incredible musician , iranian and algerian , he plays a violin from India. he plays also jimi hendrix with his heart and soul ! the video Fir on my page .

  • JIMI! It's JIMI, not Jimmi

  • I really love what you're doing

    keep it rocking !!!!!!!!!

    salu2 de Polonia,Europa

    Mustafaa

  • I'm an awful sitar player myself. I play in a Beatles cover band on a 3/4 size cheap ass sitar, along with a Coral electric sitar and an electric tanpura made out of a Beatle bass. I always warn true Indian classical music lovers to Not attend our shows. We have a Wonderful time, and our audience does too, but we wouldn't know a Raga from a Ragu sauce, and Never pretend we do. Y'know, Charles Schulz drew lousy beagles too, but Snoopy made people happy. All music need not be Transcendent.

  • I Man, some of you are just Way too upsetable! Andreas Segovia was a fantastic guitarist, but he Loathed electric guitar, an instrument that can be both awe inspiring Or puke inducing. I'm sure Andreas would have been sickened by Son House banging away at a barely in tune National, but he gave his soul in his music. I respect and enjoy great Indian music, and it's tradition, but an instrument is a tool. If you don't like this, don't listen. Play, don't condemn.

  • What Jimi Hendrix song is this?

  • Its a rough improvisation on If 6 was 9.

  • this is awesome.

  • Marsicano is really work harder...

  • i like this sound

  • excelente, excelent, wonderful

  • This is not guitar stupid ....This is Sitar .......STOP experimenting ....

  • haha, i've heard some pretty stupid stuff, but "stop experimenting"? With music? thats basically how music changes

  • Everything in this whole world is bound by some rules.Try to change with in that (mathematically with in outer bound limits).

Technically a girl with leas that 18 years can produce a child, but we don't consider that a good opinion ......likewise music has its own limits and boundries ...we can play a

drum on a guitar but I think drum is a better option if you really want to enjoy the drum sounds ......

  • music has no limitations, i can tell that you are not a musician.

  • well, limit is there for those who consider it (thoughtful people) ...Mother Nature has a limit for everything ..everything means everything ...humans have a tendency to cross these limits ...just to experiment ...for instance CLONING ..OR the one example I gave you in my last reply ...some people corss those and they see it as fun and intelligence ..but that is nothing but stupidity to a thoughful person ......yes you are correct I am not a experimental musician but a thoughtful one.....

  • Well if All Musicians Were Like You wed Still Be Playing Classical on Piano instead Of Rock n Roll and Country on a Guitar instead of Heavy Metal.

    Experimintation is GOOD.

  • LOL!!! You can't be serious... musical experimentation can "cross some type of limit?" well let me ask you this... if there was no musical experimentation... HOW WOULD MUSIC EVEN EXIST?!?!?! lol. EVERY piece of music you hear is the result of this "evil experimentation". lol

  • people are constantly playing with mathematics and physics.. (thoery of relativity, newton's laws, quantum physics, string theory, all make sense.. all disagree with each other) the successful experimentations are just the ones you here about. we don't consider that a good option not (the 18year old girl thing) but at one point it was.. and it may be again some day.. people will keep trying until the they find the solution for the time. like music

  • hahahaa this is so stupid

  • This guy sucks. You're all thinking it, I'm just saying it. I am not bad-mouthing him as a person. I'm sure he is a nice guy and has a nice heart, but he sounds like he has only been playing a musical instrument for 2 months.

It's funny how some of you get all upset if someone doesn't like this guy's music. It gives you all a chance to act all self righteous and holier than thou. Can't someone think this guy sounds bad? What's wrong with telling the truth? I hate pretentiousness and phoniness.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, cry moar

  • nobody cares about your ill-formed opinion

  • interesting comments.

i actually thought the same! the guys plaing out of tune alot, but hes quite good in places aswell.

i think the first guy wudv agreed with the music, if the sitar was good.

check out shaid parvez. that gues awesome!

put him through a distortion pedal and im sure itll still sound good!

music is a platform for creation. its got structures which is its logical side, and then theres the creative part which has no bounds.

  • the most porr pentatonic use I ever saw...porr in tech and feeling, and everything...

well, I liked the way he shaked his head... :)

  • I don't get it?

  • terrible

  • Um..try to be a little more open minded and not so defensive of your culture. This guy is taking an interest in other cultures music. Maybe you should as well. Be nice.

  • listen to the 'tea party'.

    that'll change your mind.

'sister awake' and 'the bazaar' are good songs by them with more than just a gimmick feel like this guy sounds like.

  • Beatles proved what can be done with Sitar and rock music. The people saying Sitar is only meant for classical Indian music are morons.

  • Classic example of using sitar as a gimmick.....

He plays as poorly as the band backing him up. It's horrible, but I keep coming back to look.

I've been listening to a bunch of outstanding sitarists lately (Shankar, Banerjee, Parvez, etc.), this isn't even in the same universe.

  • great video ... sounds like " learnsitarorg " and " subsic " need to chill the @#$% out. arguing like little kids, but still good for a laugh. People Suck!

  • No. I am stating my opinion sir. Listen carefully to my music (or Andrew Mendelson or Joshua Feinberg - or trippy monkey AKA Nick or other up and comers) then you will understand. If not, its just an opinion dude. People do not suck.

  • What the !@#$ !!!

  • Again same as above

  • He really is not that good at all. He is giving the false illusion that this how a sitar sounds, making it even more difficult to make people understand that a sitar DOES NOT sound like this. Twangy, thin, - anyway this guy named the Nightmare Sitarist (I'm scared : ) has been telling me that true musicians don't talk about other and what do you know - he Blasts Ravi and his daughter in the next sentence (using cuss words and worse description) after meeting them ONE TIME!

  • Even though this isn't my particular favorite style of music, I gotta respect talent when i see it. maybe instead of badmouthing each other people should actually accept the music for what it is.

  • See, Rockingroove112, you got the right idea.

  • Also I put my chops head to head with him anytime - any genre. But I play, I do not move my head frantically as if that is going to make me sound in tune as he is obviously not at all times. Good try at least. now back to some REAL music

  • Your badmouthing, learnsitarorg, is an insult to your master's kind mentality. Sultan Khan's a good friend of my dearly departed guruji, Ustad Chandrakhant Sabbathira, and I too sell out venues everywhere I play. And all I do with my music is inspire people. This old man has a vibe that's healthy and kind. I don't think a pure musician would insult someone putting his heart into his sound like that. Pure musicians have open hearts and learn from all they hear. That's what my master taught me.

  • I never said he was not. I am sorry for offending you all, it was not my intention. Sorry. He is a wonderful artist, I guess I should have said not my cup of tea. And compassion? I give free lessons my friends. Anyway I am sorry.

  • By the way I was not bad-mouthing and if you are good friends with my GURU you would know he feels exactly the same about this subject. In less kind words. I am sure you do sell out venues. But don't tell me about how I represent my Guru-Ji

  • and if u were really humble u wouldnt need other peoples name as a reference, pathetic really, a master musician can quote his references and influences, but you and all the rest r grabbin for recognition like it goin out of style, no1 cares, if u inspire pple u do, but statin it as fact? thats laughable, u dont inspire me at all lol, so go hang yourself plz, or shut the FUCK up, k?

  • If you want a shredder on the sitar then you should call anoushka shankar to play with these guys!

  • awesome:D

  • What the fuck Hendrix song is this?

  • Sounds like if 6 was 9 to me

  • aint ravi

  • Folks like him made the sitar famous in the 60s. His head moves more than his hands... That's the power of music and ecstacy.

  • It was wonderful.........Thanks for sharing. The sound of sitar was very sweet and went well with the rest of the instruments.

  • he has used two musical effects and that is revealing "KAMAL" EFFECT IM NOT A MUSICIAN BUT THE STENGHT OF LOVE FOR A MUSIC IN MY HEART REVEALING GOOD SIGNS FOR HIM

  • what are you guys talking about, it sounds good to me, .....and that im imformed, thats what music is about sounding good, pleasing people with the sound, if it pleases one, then its doing its job, it does not matter if "he's not playing it right", thAT'S dumb.

  • his right hand it's not stroking in the correct way,the music it's not bad at all,but i can't see this man as a teacher.more pactice and less lsd...

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

    wanker

  • looks nothing like the guy

  • wouldn't be that great if he transfered it to a guitar. Not the best use of the sitar.

  • that dude has no idea how to play the sitar he still thinks its 1968.

  • yeah too bad its not 1968.and unless u totally OWN at sitar, which i doubt you do,then u cant talk shit bout his playin

  • I do own a Sitar, and a Dilruba, Harmonium and a TAbla, Also grew up singing Classical Indian Music!

what are your qualifications to critique this?

  • i dont need qualifications to tell someone they cant hate on some1 elses styling.

  • I OWN a sitar and I OWN THE SITAR - and this guy is ruining the name of this instrumet. His head moves though, i agree very fluidly.

  • If you think he's ruining the name of sitar, you should see what I do with it. I'd played shows with people hanging from hooks and spinning fire while I played with an ensemble of people with home made instruments and classical western instruments. And we had several great turnouts. What are your qualifications? You sit at home and play shit everyone else plays. Classical music is outdated material. You're basically a glorified cover musician. Be creative, don't be a dick. This guy rocks.

  • My qualification speak for themselves. Ustad Sultan Khan's only disciple to play the sitar. I give concerts around the world. And even George APOLOGIZED to Ravi for the twangy sound in Norwegian Wood - Ravi and George thought it was a mistake to use the sitar as a gimmick. I am a pure musician and have nothing to prove. I sell out Venues on a regular basis. What are yours?

  • I abhor master musicians who'd gladly smack someone for hitting a sour note. You heard Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ni Se, right? Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do? notes to a chromatic scale. And to a true bard who understands the purpose of the cosmic powers of the holy instruments of the world, not just sitar, but everything, between those notes is a realm of freedom and love for connections to everything in nature. Quantum physics never inspired anyone to talk to god. He's a holy musician. Respect him.

  • And that is so cool. I think it is great to do all kinds of nutty things - quantum mechanics and Lysergic. Why pounce on me? Have YOU EVEN HEARD ME?

  • You're a talented sitarist, learnsitarorg, now you just need to learn to be a bit more compassionate to other musicians. You don't get anywhere by sending out bad energy to people. Anyone who's reading my comments would agree, though this guy's clearly no master, he's getting into it and giving it his all, and that's what really counts. He's got a good heart and you can tell he's the kinda guy who'd make friends wherever he goes. That counts more than skills.

  • You need to learn to shut up about Ravi Shabnkar and his daughter I will post your bashing letter of him, to me, on the web bro. You also need to learn to play the sitar. At least Marciano uses Schertler Pick-Ups ; )

  • Glorified cover musician? I write ALL my own stuff and credit the two covers I sing. you are a sad man.

  • u r a sad man argueing about technicalities, u should be grateful anyone cares about ur miserable lil genre of music, o the sitar is so special bla bla, guess what its the musicians who make it special, not the instrument, jus like humans made the sitar, humans made music too

  • The chief plays itself. Wow!

  • Awesome. Apparently, some folks wouldn't know acid rock if it bit them in the ass.

  • this is good.I just loved this.I'm a musician and i think that this is one of the best fusion thing I've ever heard..
