I'm sorry to say that this is not the real product key. This file UNATTEND.TXT is just a sample of how to make an automatic install for 2000/XP but thx 4 the info but that is incorrect.

this is funny. unattned.txt is a template file for administrators using winnt or winnt32.exe for xp deployment. The key listed there has no relevance to your actual product key. In fact, all the keys in the sample template file are the same.

No actually...what's funny is that ALL of the unattended OS disks that I have for each PC in my house...the product key code on the side of the PC matches the key code in unattended.txt...

It's true it doesn't work for everyone - but it does for some..,.I posted this video for the 'some' it will work for. Thanks for the comment.

Smartypantses is right this does work. You just need the real retail or OEM version. Not a downloaded copy. Downloaded copies are most of the time tampered with. So Thanks Smartypantses for the vid.

well i formatted my computer, annddd installed my dads xp sp2 disk for his dell on my compaq (IT WILL WORK TRUST ME) but he already has his installed on his computer, so if u guys wanna activate more than 1 computer, dont think about it, it wont work

That will work only if you have an unattended cd and not for all people.

WRONG! this unattended.txt file is only a sample file with a sample cdkey. check other winxp cds, you'll find just the same! good luck!

Have you actually even tried this? What christopherlembo said is absolutely correct - this is a SAMPLE product code which will NOT work to re-install XP.

This is a video on how to find your own key code for your own CD that you paid for...if you're reinstalling and lost the key code that is usually on the cd case or on your PC.

just for your own info this is not possible since the key is not actually stored on the cd itself.also the file unattend that you use to show everyone how to find "their cd key" is a sample that microsoft puts on every copy read it its at the top of the file.the only way to actually find your cd key is in your registry
