I gotta disagree with you on this, first, it's not that crazy of a thing. But the Jewish people (the religious ones) simply don't worry or bother me at all, because they don't bother people. My friend's like... a super christian, she and her mom and brother wont even feed their animals on the sabbath...they make her dad go do it while they watch recorded sermons on tv....yeah -.-;; people are so freaking weird.

An atheist pagan is what it sounds like. A pagan is some one who cares about the natural magic of nature and the seasons. We don't HAVE to believe in any Gods. Most do, but some just enjoy nature on it's own. I believe that science explains nature pretty well, I don't think Isis or Odin, or God created it, but that it evolved through time. Evolution on its own is almost magical. It's a mixture of mythology and science that I guess isn't for everyone but I enjoy it. =)

I observe the sabbath. I'm not a Jew, I'm an Adventist Christian, so we observe the day too. Not like this video about oven lights or lighting a match, but I do rest from work. I'll go to worship at church and we go for a bush walk or somewhere in nature. Given how hectic my week is I really enjoy the of rest.

shalom shabbat... At the jewish hospital in my home town, all the elevators stop at all the floors on the shabbat so the jews don't need to press the buttons. It makes for a long ride if you're going to the top floor.

It's not only that you can't light a fire but I still remember an Israeli orthodox jew asking me in Lilongwe to switch off the gas-burner as he'd been cooking Friday and the sun had set. Another time a group of young, orthodox jews had taped over the lightswitch in the hostel's fridge on Friday so they could open the fridge without the light being turned on.

God said remember the sabbath, but as Jesus said, you can get your donkey out of a well on a sabbath. It really says that you shouldn't make any work (actual work, not manual work) like going to your office, or to your job, or plowing, but you can have a nice day on your home doing whatever you want, if its not related to your job.
I think its commendable that they love God so much they are willing to go to such great lengths to keep the commandments. Yes, its probably not necessary to build such a fence around the Torah, but remember this is mans doing and we always find ways to muck up the simplest of instructions! At least they are loving their creator and not mocking Him like some people do...
All my Chirstian/Catholic friends are some of the biggest hypocrites I know. They fornicate every weekend, mistreat their body (which is supposed to be the temple of God or whatever) and so on. When they go to church on Sunday they ask for forgiveness and case closed. They do it all over again next week. Religion sucks, period.
I have an oven that has a Sabbath mode. I keep a safe distance from it on Saturdays because it keeps grabbing a knife and trying to circumcise me as I walk by.

when i was about 10 or 11, after i realized christianity was amazingly stupid, i looked into judaism, till i found out you can't mix milk with meat, and you basically can't do anything from friday sundown till saturday night. and if a family member dies you have to sit in their house for 2 weeks. so, judaism held my interest for about 1/2 an hour, and the search for god continued...

It's not only that you can't light a fire but I still remember an Israeli orthodox jew asking me in Lilongwe to switch off the gas-burner as he'd been cooking Friday and the sun had set. @hominyems i live in jerusalem, which is probably the most ridiculous city in the world. my mother used to work at a religious jewish hospital as a nurse (she quit that job after about a week) and she told me they couldn't rip paper to write prescriptions to the patients, so they brought a muslim/christian guy, especially for this, so he could rip the paper.. if you drive at a jewish neighborhood at the sabbath people will throw egges, bags of water and even rocks and glass bottles at you..

I'm an Atheist because I believe I'm given a choice, whether to infinitely ponder as to what God may or may not be, or to just except the fact that we have no evidence and choose not to make up stories. I could look up into the sky and say "well, he/she/it may possibly exist.." but instead, I choose not to as there is no definitive answer.

First, some of the Sabbath commandmets mentioned here are explicitely stated in the Bible iteslf, while others are pure inventions, some quite recent, which leads us to a no lesser weird cult - the Karaites, who practice the Bible as-is. On the other hand, the maker of this film left out some of the really bizzare habits, my favourites are cutting toilet paper and opening plastic soft drinks bottles before Sabbath

God said remember the sabbath, but as Jesus said, you can get your donkey out of a well on a sabbath. It really says that you shouldn't make any work (actual work, not manual work) like going to your office, or to your job, or plowing, but you can have a nice day on your home doing whatever you want, if its not related to your job.

I think its commendable that they love God so much they are willing to go to such great lengths to keep the commandments. Yes, its probably not necessary to build such a fence around the Torah, but remember this is mans doing and we always find ways to muck up the simplest of instructions! At least they are loving their creator and not mocking Him like some people do...

All my Chirstian/Catholic friends are some of the biggest hypocrites I know. They fornicate every weekend, mistreat their body (which is supposed to be the temple of God or whatever) and so on. When they go to church on Sunday they ask for forgiveness and case closed. They do it all over again next week. Religion sucks, period.

I have an oven that has a Sabbath mode. I keep a safe distance from it on Saturdays because it keeps grabbing a knife and trying to circumcise me as I walk by.
Who knew we'd be able to create home appliances that can fool God? Aren't we brilliant? Now if only we could create refrigerators that can disguise themselves and go to church for us we'd be able to sleep in on Sundays too!
