  • im gonna try to buy this,it seems cheaper on n64 than ps1 or gamecube

  • GORDO FRIKI

  • Did anyone notice that the intro is similar to the R.E-Racoon City scene??

  • I own the PlayStation version, but first played it on the N64. Beat it on both consoles. Good game.

  • I just don'r get why if they could put that much video stuff on this cart , why they didn't put the endings into MK4. N64's versions of the ending of that game are absolute garbage compared to the ps1

  • @Standard420247 It all came down to cost. They could make 512Mb carts like this but it would cost much more than the average N64 game so you either have to try and sell the game at a much higher price or make less profit off the games you sell.

  • @MN12BIRD I get that, but still is kind of "wtf"ish. Not to mention the fact they they didn't do the first game for it. It just doesn't seem very "nintendo" like to release a sequel game if they already didn't have the first one as well

  • @Standard420247 RE I mean

  • the rom doesn't have the fmvs. its the only one on the n64 that does have them, so I guess it's no wonder why n64 emulators can't emulate them.

  • @tysonrss Its the same reason there arent any good emulators for todays consoles. It just cannot be done. Look up games like World Championship Racing for the N64. The n64's limitations caused many devs to use tricks to get around them and emulators cant play WCR because of it as there isnt any known way to emulate it.

  • how do you delete saves? does anyone know how?

  • Its not the largest data stored in a cartridge. Conkers bad fur day also was 64MB. Due to all the music they crammed into it.

  • blood colour??

  • Hey i have a question can the hauppage hd pvr be used with the nintendo 64?

  • @WhoSaidYouCanRun I've never used that one but there's no reason it shouldn't work. I'm very sure it would work great.

  • @WhoSaidYouCanRun

Buy an emulator for your PC instead.

I have it on my Smartphone and it works GREAT!

  • Great video, I always wondered what it was like for Nintendo 64.

  • Damn... And I thought what they cramed into ShadowMan on the n64 was impressive!

  • Solid state can't hold as much information as disks can so no. FF7 wouldn't work as well on a N64.

  • @DaveElectric Think about it this way. CD's only hold 700MB, DVD holds what 4-8GB and BD-ROM (Bluray) holds 25GB or 50GB. Now a days you can get 128GB, 256GB even bigger USB flash drives! But they can cost hundreds of dollars for the really big ones (I think kingston has a 512GB USB flash drive thats like 600 bucks!) while a disk costs like 25 cents.

  • @MN12BIRD And a $60 hard drive can hold 2 TB. That is more than the top of line solid state drive which hold like 512 Gb and costs like half a thousand

It is only recently that solid state drives are outclassing disk systems. For most of its life, solid state haven't been able to beat disk systems. This was especially true back in the n64/ps1 days. The disadvantage of having a computer with moving parts(ie a disk drive) is the read speed is lower.

  • I wish Sony had incorported a expansion pack feature 4 the playstation as games such as V8:2nd Offense has lower resolution than the other console versions.

  • Was this the only RE of its era (pre-RE4) to offer non-"tank" controls?

  • @lucidflux76 Yeah as far as I know but I'm not %100 sure. Truth is I've never played the N64 version with the 3D style control option! Yeah I kinda forgot about it but also I'm so used to tank controls since I played all 3 RE games on PS1 so much. I don't mind them so I played this like that too.

  • @MN12BIRD The tank controls are the one thing that shied me away from the RE series back then and even TR. They just make 3d gaming so unbearable.

  • @lucidflux76 The Resident Evil games still have Tank controls! :P The only difference is the camera is placed behind your character now.

  • AND WHAT THE BEST TO PLAY THIS GAME

  • 64MB isn't the biggest N64 cart, I swear I read that Conkers Bad Fur Day was 512 and I'd believe it considering how good looking the game was and how much voice acting was in it.

  • @Snotnarok No see both these games are 512Mb (Mega bit) witch is 64MB (Mega Byte) witch is the largest N64 game ever. Usually in PC's we talk in Bytes (B) but old cartridge systems always used bits (b) to make it look bigger. 8 bits in a Byte so divide 512Mb by 8 and you have 64MB.

  • @MN12BIRD Despite being savvy with PCs, I constantly forget the bit nonsense. Though I did question 512MB cart on 64, since that'd cost far more than the 70 dollars COnker was released at.

  • @Snotnarok LOL don't blame ya it tricked me a few times too. Yeah Conker is also 512Mb (64MB) and a game I still need to get for the N64!!! Great game from what I've seen of it so far.

  • @MN12BIRD Let me put it this way, I don't really like many 64 games, I'm even less of a fan of that damned trident of a controller. But Conker? That game is just amazing, the single player is fantastic and the multiplayer was onpar with golden eye in terms of fun. The xbox remake is nicer looking, but they censored it, usually nintendo is guilty of that but there you have it. Better on 64 because of that and the multiplayer was ruined on the xbox version.

  • @Snotnarok actually bad fur day was 64 mb

  • @fredjerk69 Yeah looked that up, big game for the little 64 cart

  • @Snotnarok another source told me it was 64 mb?

  • @fredjerk69 No I mean you're right, I looked it up after the first response. Saw that it's 64MB largest games on the 64.

  • do you know where can i get the ROM for this game i have one put it no good i need a good one

  • @Lindocarlos100 I have a ROM of this game that doesn't play well either. N64 emulation sucks might just be emulator not the ROM?

  • The voice sound is weird in video.

  • n64 version with expansion pack is much better than ps1 version, better textures, better character textures, zombies etc

  • great video :] memories from this video. subbed!

  • I asked for this game for christmas when it came out and got it. I immediately went downstairs and started playing it. At the time, with the expansion pack it looked great. I was so happy that fmv was included on a cartridge as well. Loved this game and still have it and play it from time to time.

  • The N64 would have benefited more with using a CD drive(even Nintendo experimented with this with it's failure of an add-on in Japan only) It would allow for more textures and less compressed data. Cartridge them-selfs where a bottle neck for the 3D based system.

  • @SgtThom The N64 is alot stronger than the Ps1. Ps1 has 33.8 Mhz 32-bit CPU, nameless GPU, effects: texture mapping, flat & gouraud shading, 2 MB main ram, 1 MB VRAM, can do 180k texture mapped & light sourced polygons per second. N64 has 93.7 Mhz 64-bit CPU, 62.5 Mhz RCP, effects: everything the ps1 performed including bilinear filtering, mip mapping, anti-aliasing, environment mapping, 4 MB RDRAM, expendable to 8 MB expansion pak, can do 100k polygons of quality in fast 3D mode-

  • @SgtThom and 500 to 600k polygons of Ps1 quality in turbo 3D mode. As you can see my good man, it clearly stronger.

  • @SgtThom I also must inform you, that i never made a statement of the 3DS cartridges holding more GB than blueray discs. Blueray discs has the capacity of 54 GB or maybe less, it depends if it has a dual layer. Please be more open minded.

  • Jesus christ!!! Tooooooo much damn talking!

  • I heard from a few people that the N64 version of RE2 sports 360 analog movement controls, as seen in the Outbreak series.

    Is this true?

  • @MegaBondagemon Yeah if I recall there is an option in the menu to change the controls but I've never tried it.

  • @MN12BIRD That's the part that interests me most about this port.

Despite being an RE veteran and playing almost all the games since 1996, I got tired of the 'tank' controls.

  • Wow it just used like zero time to start up whenever i was playing the playstations version it comes to the screen where it says violens and gore and it takes forever to move on, so this is superfast

Wasn't Resident Evil Zero originally intended for the N64

  • Wow it just used like zero time to start up whenever i was playing the playstations version it comes to the screen where it says violens and gore and it takes forever to move on, so this is superfast

  • hah, sega CD bios music. knew it.

Been carried away with buying n64 games recently, definitely gonna pick this one up. It's a brilliant technical achievement

  • So should I play the N64 version or the DC version?

  • @Conchobhar I'd go with the N64 version. Of all the ports the N64 version had the most. The dreamcast version is just the playstation version.

  • @Conchobhar Dreamcast version is the best by far. It has Nightmare Mode, Art Gallery, 3D model viewer, FMV viewer, and the best graphics of all the versions (especially if you are using VGA mode). In addition, the VMU let's you view your ammo count and health condition.

  • dang if i had the time i would be these old games on craig'slist

  • wow u copy CGR so much.

  • @HarrisonMonroe Because I review old games? I've been doing this for years, before I even saw CGR (witch of course I'm a big fan of) besides he has lots of humor in his reviews. My specialty is more technical reviews I don't see him doing as many technical console reviews like I do. So I really don't think I'm coping anyone. Lots of people review old games on youtube you know.

  • @MN12BIRD no cuzza ur intro

  • @HarrisonMonroe My intro? I've had this intro since like 2007 besides since when did he use the SegaCD BIOS music in his intro? I was the first to use that music on youtube and I've never seen anyone else use it. So... yeah. I'm pretty sure I did the whole black and white, show all the console thing before anyone else too. Not %100 sure, but just saying there's a good chance I did that first.

  • @MN12BIRD no the thing u do when u like show a bunch o consoles and kinda like pan the camera. like the origional 1999 cgr did.

  • @MN12BIRD i find it humorous for the fact people instantly accuse you of copying someone because they do reviews also, like the part of your statement (alot of people review old games on youtube) in my opinion i find your reviews quite accurate and more serious than i do CGR, besides they have only been doing reviews for nearly a year and you have been doing reviews for alot longer, the truth is i find CGR annoying unreliable because most of their information is based on the reviewers opinion.

  • @BipolarYogi - Aren't everyones reviews and information based on the reviewers opinion? For example, I'm not going to say I dislike a game that I actually enjoy just because 90% of critics and media might have disliked the game... I, too, often find Marks reviews on CGR to not be in sync with what I would think myself but that's just his opinion and he is entitled to say it in his review surely? I'm not complaining at you I promise you but it's just your comment has really confused me there :)

  • @CitroenC407 I have known alot of game reviewers that does not base their opinion on the games they review. Im not stating that game reviewers shouldn't express their opinion for that is your right isn't it (freedom of speech), some of them do express their opinion and most majority do not, i would rather hear about what the game has to offer. By the judgement of your comment you think rationally before you make your statement and if you are confused of my statement then you are closed minded.

  • @BipolarYogi - I'm far from closed minded... it's just that I write reviews on my Facebook page and when I write reviews, I write about what the game felt like to me and myself only. I don't care what other reviewers think of the game - I will go into detail as to why I like/dislike it.

  • @HarrisonMonroe Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  • @NitroTab1 up thumb

  • @HarrisonMonroe I saw MN12BIRD's reviews before I saw any CGR stuff. I love CGR, but the only thing similar between them and this guy is the fact they review old games. I like both of them.

  • N64 FTW I am 13 and i'm proud to say i own an N64,Snes, and Nes. I enjoy retro gaming rather then my generations of gaming which is kinda boring in my opinion. I just got my N64 on Christmas but i don't have an Ac adapter (Which i'm planning to buy soon)

  • @residentevil4beta Good to see a youth with a brain unlike most today. Good job.

  • @MyNameBaboo yes your are correct my good man the 3DS holds a maxim of 8 gigabytes but the dvd-rom of the system (xbox360) holds 10 gigabytes not much more than the 3DS cartridge. :D

  • @BipolarYogi Thank you Yogi for sharing wisdom for many.

  • @MyNameBaboo your are most welcome

  • @MyNameBaboo oops sorry what was i think actually it depends if the dvd-rom of xbox360 uses a dual layer but most common of GB that xbox360 dvd-roms use is 8.5-10 its either those two according if its using dual layer if not its about half of 8.5-10 which is a rough estimate :D but most of their dvd-rom games have dual layer.

  • Word.

  • 2:00 Don't forget Nintendo's own Majora's Mask. I love that game.

  • The cgi looked so shitty for the n64.

  • 10:30 my god that scared the hell out of me!

  • @SargeantMario101 ITS NOT THAT SCARY SHEEESH

  • @eletricmayham I mean it made me jump I don't play Resident Evil.

  • @SargeantMario101 OK ME NEITHER

  • thats carnage from spider-man at 9:35

  • Even though the graphics are way better today, they just don't make games like this anymore. It was an experience. Games today do not create a mood like these older games did such as resident evil 1 & 2, Parasite Eve, Mario 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, silent hill 1, and all the Final Fantasy games on the PS1. I can tell you exactly where I was and how I felt when I first played any of those games, they have become part of me. Now I play a game and it is entertaining but it doesn't stick.

  • Mn12bird resident evil 2 on n64, has actually have 512 megs not 64 megs.

  • @PJW3000 It has 512Mb (Megabits) witch is 64MB (MegaBytes) cart games back in the day always used Megabits because it looks better. There are 8 bits in a Byte. So 512Mb = 64MB.

  • @MN12BIRD : you review is great. i try this game but in emulator. after i finished this game, extreme battle mode is gone, so not all they put in cartriges.

if they plan to put that, than must be 2 cartriges in one packages..:)

  • waoooo excellent!!!!!

  • ever since then it was also reseased on the gamecube which had a dinky disk but handled the data transfer on one disk

  • Resident Evil 2 was the first and only N64 game that I'd ever seen with FMV sequences. They were grainy and compressed, but still impressive and true to the original. The N64 version had improved character textures, too. RE2 on the N64 was a marvel.

  • btw siiick collection of systems, i hadnt even seen half of them

  • you look exactly like a fatter version of this dude lol watch?v=ZgJOMqIhvHM

  • I was only 9 when this dropped for the n64 on Halloween of 1999. I still remember playing it though. Don't think I owned it however.

  • DK 64 required an expansion pack to play so I don't really think it counts. This was released on January 21 1998 for Psx and October 31 1999 for n64.

  • was RE2 the n64 cart that was packed with the most content? I thought it was Donkey Kong 64, that game is GINORMOUS!

  • n64 kicked ass back in the day.......i pretty much threw out my gaystation then....horrible graphics. just horrible

  • im surprised this was on n64,i cant believe i found out 10 mintues ago!

  • @johnwelshmorris5 me too! :D

  • @johnwelshmorris5 i found out just now XDaaewaa

  • I still have my RE2 N64 cart, and I played it to death.

  • I Wish I Was Your Neighbor Man....U Have A Very Impressive Game Console Collection.... It Would Be Me And U Every Weekend On One LOL....Naw But Great Video...

  • @FireeGee why would you want this guy to be your neighbor he could be a pedophile or a rapist...

  • @TheCodProductiions Man I Was Just Kidding LOL But I Think I Could Take Care Of My Self as Well As My Family For Any Kinda Danger or Threat LOL But Hey He Could Be....

  • i dont know why but when i play this game i cant get pass the first part of the on easy!!!

    1. because those zombies always spam me

2.for some reason i move VERY slow

3.the zombies seem faster then me so thats why they spam me

  • @coolistmo You need to press the "sprint button" to move faster. Go to "Options" and you should see your button config.

  • @MrNeobiotic ooooh thanks dude!

  • AMAZING IVE NEVER SEEN A N64 WITH THAT GRAPICS

  • @theretrogamerno1 You should see Conker's Bad Fur Day, that will impress you too ; )

  • @Marwarluigi THANK U VERY MUCH I WILL AND I WIL (2say thank sucscribe 2 your channal

  • a lot of people dont relize that voice acting in n64 games is really kind of amazing theres only a selecct few games that have it on n64 *cough* conkers bad fur day *cough*

  • Wasn't Conker's Bad Fur Day another game with 512 megabites?

  • now were is i DS port!

  • @noideac Why do we need a DS port when you can buy it on PSN for your PSP or PSN for $6.00.

  • i love ur panasonic version.

  • Just* lol not Judy

  • Ya know, I have every game system made....I have nintendo 64 and I have this game still....but I was always so scared to play it....I still am scared to play it lol...my brother has resident evil 5 for his ps3 and it's 2 player....he asks me all the time to be the girl but I'm so scared of zombies....I'm Judy scared of all the games and all the movies...lol

  • @DestinyGirl1228

Well if it helps you, 4 & 5 are pathetic in terms of delivering ANY kind of horror whatsoever. 5 especially, might as well be a full-on action movie.

  • @DestinyGirl1228 I was too scared to play Resident Evil at first too (mainly as a kid when I was scared of everything). Then a friend let me borrow Resident Evil 0 when I was 12. Let me say that at first, I played it with the volume off. But after a while, I realized it wasn't so bad. I found it recently and started playing it and I'm actually laughing at everything. 4 and 5 aren't really all that scary, just a lot of fun.

  • just amazing

  • This game used to scare the shit out of me when I was like 6 years old O_o

  • @zackfair73195 haha i know same lol

  • i still get that 90s feel when i play this game... and pre rendered backgrounds are awesome because when code veronica came out i was so sad... the 3d was good but the backgrounds sucked

  • no load times FUCK YES!

  • This is amazing. Resident Evil 2, all there, higher resolution, AND no load times? If this had been released at the same time as the PS1 version, there would have been no contest whatsoever.

  • great video!

  • i remember the cartridge 4 res evil 2 on the 64 was pretty heavy, can tell they crammed loads in

  • prerendered background is awesome they should bring it back

  • if the n64 had cd drive would it be THE superior console? probably, but amazing games like goldeneye or f-zero would have been overshadowed by games that were also on the ps1, practically making them almost alike

  • he has a life

  • damn i wish i hadn't sold this

  • miss this old game...

  • small detail but im also pretty sure that the psx version didnt have the casings coming out of the guns. and the lickers replaced the hunters in this one :D

  • lolz n64, you used to have to blow on the cartrage alot

  • PS1 suppose to be more powerful then N64..

    this is better than PS1..

  • It's not more powerful.

The games can just hold more data.

  • @0Sprotret

    ...

  • What? The N64 was more powerful than the PS1.

  • i don't know about it...

but PS1 "suppose" to be "more" powerful than N64...

  • Yeah, take a look at the PS1 specs and then compare them to the N64.

    Kthx.

  • @dcom94 Yeah. The only real advantage was more storage space on the PS1 CD compared to the N64 cartridge, but the N64 was really the more powerful console. The game medium storage was the only drawback

  • @Ketorulz

    really? yea!

  • of course. hence the name, the n64 was a 64 bit machine, as oppose the 32 bit ps1

  • Um, the N64 is more powerful. The downfall to the N64 was the cartridges which held less space than CD's.

  • @sexahchocokitten

well it's just video game dude... :)

    i don't care about graphic... RESPECT 64!

  • @sexahchocokitten Yep... I'm surprised they managed to fit the game + voice track and all the FMVs (!!!) onto a 64 meg cartridge. 64 megs is nothing really, especially if you don't use heavy compression codecs for the video (which can be CPU intensive).

  • @sexahchocokitten yea, the N64 could have knocked the playstation DOWN if they went with an optical medium.

  • Comment removed

  • @BipolarYogi Aren't the cartridges for the 3DS 8 Gigs?

  • @BipolarYogi

Well you can make a cart as big as you need (but of course that up's the price).

  • @BipolarYogi

And you can use blue-ray which hold ten times the amount of an Nintendo 3DS cart? The reason why we switch over to the disk format because it was cheaper. Having faster random access due to it being cheaper per mega byte. There's no reason to use cartridges unless your console hold little ram for storing data. As for the N64 cartridge holding more data than CDs I recall it was only around 112MB or something similar. No where near the 650MBs of the CD-R.

  • @BipolarYogi 64MB Vs. 600MB CD. It's just heavily compressed. And 3DS carts only hold 2GB, 360 DVDs hold 8.4GB.

  • @ultimateshadowx9 You are incorrect, the cartridges of the "Nintendo 3DS" has a capacity of 8-10 gigabytes, and as for my earlier statement of the "Nintendo64" cartridges having more memory than cd-roms was a simple mistake, but either way the "N64" is far more technical superior to "Playstation". If you must know why, then i recommend for you to read to my earlier statements below. ↓

  • @BipolarYogi Umm, no they didn't. Not without costing a fortune at the time at least. Like stated in the video itself, the most ever crammed onto an n64 cartridge was 64MB, a cd rom would hold upwards of 300-700MB per disc. It was actually shown that if they had of put something like FFVII on the n64, it would of taken well over 10 cartridges for it.

As for flaunting graphical prowess of systems, fuck off. Seriously. Idiots like you force devs to spend more time on em' than gameplay.

  • @Kerze Most of your information is incorrect, either way the "Nintendo 64" is far more superior to the "Playstation". I recommend for you to read my statements further in the comments, furthermore a "Final fantasy" installment could've been successful for the "N64".

I loathe people like yourself, that over looks the abilities of a platform, therefore you "fuck off". I must inform you, that i couldn't careless towards the graphical appearance, of a "video game".

  • @Kerze Also, i'm a graphics designer for capcom and working further.

  • @BipolarYogi AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, what? Buddy, are you 12 years old?

Also how is my information incorrect? Every source out there points to cartridges being more expensive than cd's at the time not to mention having much less room.

The n64 had more raw processing power, but it barely had more ram than the psx and actually had a lower resolution maximum than it as well.

  • @Kerze I can see that you can't have a logical argument, without using offensive terms. That really shows how low your intelligence is and i never stated that cartridges "weren't" more expensive at the time. I simply stated, that platform's "abilities" are far more powerful, than people assume and by judgement of your replies, you're the childish one. Hopefully, you'll open your mind and understand my meaning. Once again, the "Nintendo 64" is far more powerful.

  • @Kerze Go further in the pages of the comments, to read the information about the "N64". I agree with your statement of the "N64" having lower resolution, due to the fact that it uses cartridges. Don't attempt to reply, because i just delete them and i put you on block. I'm just wasting my time, trying to inform the facts, that you can't comprehend. Although cd-roms have a bigger capacity. The Psx still couldn't handle a full cd-rom, because of it's weak processor. You loose, good bye.

  • @BipolarYogi Go to page 3, or 4.

  • @BipolarYogi "Umm, no they didn't. Not without costing a fortune at the time at least. Like stated in the video itself, the most ever crammed onto an n64 cartridge was 64MB, a cd rom would hold upwards of 300-700MB per disc. It was actually shown that if they had of put something like FFVII on the n64, it would of taken well over 10 cartridges for it."

So which are you trying to say? N64 cartridges could be made to house far more than 64MB at the time or that cd's can't hold 300-700 MB on it?

  • @dcom94 The N64 is more powerful than the PS1

and your right N64 is better

    PS1: 32 bits

    N64: 64 bits

  • @catclaw357

hmm.... i get it... so that's why they called it N64....

  • @catclaw357 Bits have nothing to do with power, I mean the original Xbox was 32 bit and 32 bit computers can play Crysis.

The Dreamcast (weaker than all the last gen consoles, though easy to program) was 128 bit, but it is a lot weaker than the computer you're using which is either 32 or 64 bit. How do I know this? Well the Dreamcast would probably not have been able to play this Youtube video.

  • @Ty4ons The original XBOX was 256 bits not 32 bits, get your facts straight.

  • @catclaw357 You can't add up the bits from the components for the total rating, that's like putting a bunch of monkies in a room and because their combined IQ is very high you say they are smarter than Albert Einstein.

I find read it being 64 bit and 32 bit, but the CPU was 32 bit, just check Wikipedia and its source.

  • @catclaw357 The XBOX was 128 nit. what r u talking about?
