At 3:57, they show stock footage of an M58 Mine Clearing Line Charge going off while talking about how awesome their tube-launched, wire-guided ATGM is. Of course it looks impressive; it's 1750 pounds of C4!
I really wonder why ATE put a 20mm gun on it.Today, the standard caliber for helicopter cannons is 30mm.If they decided to put a 20mm cannon on it,they could have at least given it a high ROF.
@gtamodman122 the number on it doesnt make it better u know. The new 20mm gun is way more effective than the old 30mm. It now is in a turret which means it can be fired to both sides.
@Buemmo the 30mm round is more powerful, with fairly good precision. Most attack helicopters use 30mm cannons (Mi-28,Ka-50/52,AH-64,Mi-35P/Mi-24P,etc etc). The 20mm round is excellent for aircraft cannons (for dogfights) but for ground attacks the 30mm is ideal. In contrast to the 20mm round, the 30mm is capable of inflicting more damage to a target. And what do you mean by saying "both sides"?
The US Military needs to design something similar for the 101st. Can you imagine these things dropping off a squad of Airborne and then strafing the target with their missiles?
when i watch this, i imagine myself as Tony Stark, sipping champagne to this promotional video knowing that he has built the ultimate weapon in the world :)
@LONGIRAFFE yeah because the black hawk only serves as a utility helicopter unless modified for the gunship purposes a hind is suited for. The mi-24 would not last a few seconds when pitted up against an Ah-64 Apache longbow.
@DrMitsos Damn too late. Oh well I'll take one Agile Superhind with a 30mm cannon please. :) I'm glad to see there's still life in the Mi-24. Great Video.
If u use this flying tank as a attack heli at close ranges you can write your testament :O
