  • 2:47 looks like a woman is playing the guitar

  • The full course is not free. And the link below, which says "more free lessons", does not work.

  • superb playing!! But I was expecting some instruction in this style of playing and not merely a performance. I only wish I hadn't broken my pinky knuckle some years ago because it has affected the efficiency of my little finger which is important to have full use of to play certain runs such as the man in the white t-shirt played.

  • Tab anyone?

  • Fly me to the moon lol 4:07

  • Frank's face after andreas's solo is the best. LOL

  • 4:31 the guitars have a conversation.

  • rich gypsies $8000 guitar.

  • Hi hi! Have you considered the X7 Guitar Mind Implant (google it)? Ive heard some great things about it and my friend learned to play like in a week with it.

  • @JcMrry I'm pretty sure Frank is playing his signature model by Ryan Thorell, a luthier based out of Utah

  • Frank is playing is signature Benedetto model, as far as I know they are extremely hard to get hold of. Andreas is playing a guitar made in somewhere like Finland I can't quite remember. He mentions where the guitar is from on his instructional website though

  • I guess tho thought me one thing... Iv got a long way to go.

  • Gypsy Jazz and beyond at it's very very best !

  • cool

  • Disgusting. Disgustingly good.

  • ohh now im a pro!

  • I fell on doubt

  • Ilyen döbbenetes két fickót még nem láttam!!!

Ettől a pillanattól a gitárom nem veszem a kezembe!!! Hatalmas nagy kalap - Tudjátok mi - stb.!!! oregpaco

  • i get the feeling they really don't like each other

  • @miroslavsafin frank just plays with that face, how can they not like each other? because frank never smiles? hes a hard working man..

  • I like that piano effect at the very ending...very creative.

  • I love both of these guitarists playing, they both have very distinct styles and it works for both of them. Obviously Andreas demonstrates more technical prowess in this particular video, but I don't think he loses any feeling or melodic sense, and as he also demonstrates in the beginning of his first solo, he is perfectly capable of playing slow, clever lines as well. Both of these guitarists just have amazing versatility which I really admire.

  • both are great, but prefer frank slower playing with more content

  • insane

  • aha, I think I missed something between page 0:12 and 5:29, could you repeat it please?

  • Superb! There's no other word.

  • Both players are kinda amazing. For myself if the music stops being about having fun and melodic I rather whistle in the dark. Strum 3 campfire chords to a requested pop song at beginner level and be encouraged or having nitpicky theory elitist argue over whos more technically proficient than the other. For these musician artists maintaining their integrity is always a test to see who is still appreciative and who fails to get it. Campfire somehow in its innocence still prevails!

  • Jazz Guitar Lesson !

Thank you for sharing this one

  • andreas guitar is a gypsy guitar , vignola is playin a Jazz guitar.... dont know the brands ....

  • what guitars are those?

  • thumbs up if you heard it go into Autumn leaves XD

  • I didn't know Eric Northman played guitar.

  • @surrealIdeal na you got him confused, thats vigo mortisen, crafty little bugger thought that disguise would full me but hes going to have to do alittle beter then just dying his hair to full me.. Im not stupid!!

  • @Conns2239 now you say it, he looks like a disguised viggo.

  • ANDREAS OBERG IS MY HERO!

  • ANDREAS OBERG IS MY HERO!

  • Owned

  • Beautiful! Looks like I have some new things to learn.

  • This put such a smile on my face!

And to those that think Andreas is playing too fast - you are of course entitled to your own opinions - should at least try to understand what the notes are before you you cross your arms and try and come up with some advise for the guy.

    He clearly doesn't need it.

    XD

  • frank seems too play more melodically =] [good thing]

  • @crisDAwog maybe so, but andreas plays much more in the style of traditional gypsy guitar

  • @crisDAwog I also think that frank, from a single note alternate picking standpoint , cannot compete with andreas. Frank however is an awesome rhythm guitarist and does chord phrasing better than andreas.

  • Great Performance! I can only dream.

The "voice" difference is the difference in the guitars. Betcha if they switched axes, Andreas would have sounded different. That D-hole recorded a little harsh, could even be a mic issue. Frank's traditional jazz is slightly retarded on the get-go as well, so hence the difference in styles.

  • Guitar Instructor Lesson

What is the tuning here in this one ?

    Sound Music Video

  • ITS TO BAD THAT ANDREAS PLAYS SO FAST. I REALLY ENJOY THE MELODY NOT A BUNCH OF FAST LICKS. I GIVE VIGNOLA THE PRIZE ON THIS ONE.

  • Damn! Totally cool...soo, it's not all about speed, note selection and phrasing is also very important, but to be able to do it fast is also cool. These guy's are both very good, yes two different styles, and that is what makes the world an interesting place, :^)

  • @kkretzs Phrasing is the thing that Andreas has an abundance of.

  • To all you people arguing about who is better, this is ridiculous. Those are two completely different forms of jazz. Frank is playing smooth jazz with some altered roots, while Andreas is playing gypsy style. Its not that he is playing faster, its that it's more stoccatto and the scales are extended. BUT! The one thing I feel that Andreas has over Frank is a "voice". He does alot of subtle moves and techniques that, while they may not be very hard, make it stand out. Frank is playing text book.

  • Who hit dislike????? come on show yourself you silly cunt!!!

  • @theoanthropologist....ditto.

  • Suuunshiiinnnee

  • ...

    *slams desk*

    FUCK YEAH! THAT WAS AMAZING!

  • true fire!

    FTW!!

  • 1:29: I yell at the Nordic god and tell him to go to hell! Shut up! I should have practiced more when I was a kid. Dang it.

  • Well, just because something is faster doesn't make it better. That's all that I'm really saying. If you want to argue with that, have fun. I'm a touring musician. I've done tours in the United States, Canada, Brazil, etcetera. I'm sort of a professional guitarist, so you can try to call me an idiot if you want, but seriously, if you think that just because something is faster that makes it better then you have some growing to do as a musician.

  • This was so funky! Great playing! Need to learn myself some gypsy jazz!

  • It's too bad that our music culture is so obsessed with virtuosity these days. I used to be obsessed with it years ago, but now I'm a guitar teacher and I am able to appreciate much more the kinds of tasteful things that Frank Vignola plays. They teach together and both know a LOT of theory, however they are only stylistically different. Andreas is a great player, but I'm confident that Frank could play all of the same things that Andreas plays. They only differ in styles of expression.

  • oyecarnal stop trying to justify second rate jazz guitar playing. frank sucks. He cant even play half the licks Andreas can. Andreas knows more theory plays faster cleaner and more melodic. ergo he is a better guitarist/virtuoso RECOGNIZE

  • @Jazztastic2112 you fucking idiot shut your fucking mouth off , tired of hearing pseudo idiots , that think they can rate people based on their musical tastes etc , this is all subjective so please stop talking shit , not for anything he is a recognized player , just get out of this world of music , comments like this make me sick

  • oyecarnal ur dumb Andreas plays fast and amazing runs that frank couldnt even dream of playing.... Andreas thinks melodically that fast... go ahead n try and break down one of those licks that andreas does ull see its more beutifull than anything frank can play slow

  • notice how Frank plays amazing music with amazing sound while Andreas plays just fast runs.... don't get me wrong. they are both great guitarists. But what separates a true genius from the other skillful guitarists is what one chooses to play.

  • Real nice! But I cant by that purple guitar

  • I FUCKIN LOVE GYPSY JAZZ!

  • I'm truly truly impressed...I'm going to keep practicing even more now. These two are Great!

  • THE WORLD JUST EXPLODED WITH PURE FREAKING SKILL! \m/

  • OMG OMG ,,,,, im rethinking my whole 6 years of playing guitar...... these guys, are amazing.

  • fuck these fucking fucks fuckers!!!!!! SHIT!!!!!!!!

    sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good

  • From 4.23 things get really mad, what a great video

  • im fuckin alive again!!!!

  • THIS IS MUSIC !

  • this ist music !

  • @MrMifka88 haha I knew that you were german by saying " ist " :) Das ist Musik! Liebst du Andreas Oberg? Ich spiele guitar. Tschuss ( lolo i'm trying to speak german )

  • Awesome! people talk about jazzing up bach, but they're baching up jazz

  • I think I should dwell more into music theory, because I don't know too much. I learned bass playing mostly by myself, and these things like "A-minor" just kind of passed by me.

  • this is a lesson as much as it would be a beating up by a bully

  • Top 5 guitar jams I've seen on YouTube!

  • I really love that tight, terse vibrato characteristic in Gypsy Jazz!

  • eargasm

  • does anybody know what kind of guitar that Frank is playing?

  • @lezardvaleth99

    Custom built by Ryan Thorell

  • @Gminor7

    Thank you very much.

  • Oberg is a jazz porn star!

  • I wonder who would win in a fist fight...

  • Wow the guy on the left is really good looking. Probably helps that Frank doesn't have much of a fashion sense, but that's a good thing. It doesn't distract you as much from the music.

  • what the fuck just happened?

  • This is simple every day practice I do at home! When I'm asleep... I think Frank's Solos have more value for someone who wants to get the feel of that music. I'd say Andreas is technically more efficient but Frank's notes are thicker, more vibrant and generally more beautiful.

Both of them great musicians and nice guys for supplying us with all this material.

    Bravo to both!

  • frank is more melodic than andreas

  • yes, andreas definitely does alternate picking on a gypsy guitar

  • This isn't a lesson, it's a schooling!

  • @mathrockshard I totally agree!I lost 5 minutes and 32 seconds of my life.I don't get why people do that? It's bad enough that i'm teaching myself guitar and we get people that just rub it in your face that they can play what you can't.lol

  • @mathrockshard as in 'don't mess with'?

  • I felt human again when Andres played some blues at 2:57.

  • I don't think his shirt is tight enough...

  • Absolutely brilliant! Both such terrific musicians.

  • @pilotbutterfly rofl dude, I was merely stating the possible title on why that video is a lesson....no need to get all worked up and I'm sure my comment is pretty clear cut..peace

  • @philotze ooh xD shit. I thought you tried to bash me by saying "shut the fuck up and watch me play xD sawry :]

  • Did you two play at jazz alley with Pearl Django? Love your stuff....thanks..

  • This isn't a fucking lesson!

  • @pilotbutterfly Lesson #1: Stfu and watch me play.

  • Comment removed

  • @pilotbutterfly It's a lesson for all of us, that we are absolutely not that good ;)

  • Bravissimi , ma occhio al beat.

  • Wow that's some good pickin'!!!!!!!

  • Hell ya!!!!

  • Andreas like jazzy malmsteen version =D

  • @marleysheredder lol thats true! ..but andy is waaaayy better (no offence against malmsteen). :)

  • 2:59 to 3:08 :O

  • wow, cool!

  • Everything after 4:20 in the song is EPIC

  • @guitarfreak6 really amazing...

  • Is Andreas for REAL???? My GOD, he's good!

  • this is awesome!

  • andreas is fast, very skilled and sounds awsome

but the guy at the right is like singing with his licks,

in my opinion that s the huge different bewtween playing good and playing excellent.

  • This is Amazing but i have one to say first on an gipsy looks better and yourve godent this blood for this shit But its amazing lol

  • the nerdy guys playing sounds better to me.. the blonde guy is good but the nerds note placement and choice of tone just owns

  • who can tell me wt are they doing?.?

  • Very Nice!!!

  • i love it

  • The counterpointage was totally awesome! :P

  • Sweet!

  • 2:15 he sooooooo rapes lol makes me climax when i hear that

  • Who mic-ed these guys? Hide the wire at least. Sheesh... Great playing fellas.

  • Andreas Oberg-SPRINTER??????????

  • Fantastic!!!! awesome ending by minute 4.25 til end.

  • COOL!

  • Those fuckers are walkin!

  • You are great!

  • I LOVE ANDREAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy shit. call 911, these guys are on fire. Fucking awesome, best music vidoe ive seen on youtube in a long time!

  • The two definately have the chemistry going. I enjoyed the music and the sound, the clean articulate acoustic sound. To me, the fact that it's gypsy jazz is by co-incedence. Though now I love that genre, I love how they both put a modern touch into it. This is real hip, I'm mezmorized by this.

  • Love Frank

  • olééé :))))

  • wonderful thanks for posting.

  • epic

  • andreas got feeling too. i mean look at that lick at 3:05 lol. i enjoyed this video cus franks got more of the melodic take and andreas goes more with rhythm and speed

  • Andreas Oberg was being modest in this performance. he should of been playing the solo part the whole time.

  • I think Andrea Oberg need more gain...and an electric guitar...and to play another kind of music. Maybe he's a great shredder or something else but manouche is not shredding, it's feeling. Even Frank Vignola doesn't really "sound manouche", la pompe is not exactly how it has to be (he'more jazzy but a great pro with very very clean and dynamic sound, I heard him live last thursday in Italy with Tommy Emmanuel) but he has way more feeling...in my opinion, of course!

  • I like the guy to the rights playing much better. the one to the left has no feeling its just watch how fast I can go.

  • Yeah !!!!!

  • hmz, it just my opionion, but gypsy jazz la pompe rhythm must be played slightly different.. the guy from the right plays rhythm better... the thing is.. those accents..they must be on second forth..and not so much mutting be used on first strings.. I heard tons of video on youtube also tried to listen very carefully how people plays la pompe =}

  • @Holms andreas, the guy on the left is doing the traditional gypsy jazz rhythm , that's how it's done, frank vignola's rhythm is great too but it's slightly different than the gypsy jazz pompe... his is more a mix of american style and gypsy jazz style, works quite well for him

  • @dmmc1043 I'm glad that somebody except me noticed that =)

  • andreas is sick

  • I love how Frank looks like he's in a kind of trance as he starts his 2nd solo :D

  • my ears had an orgasm!

  • SHREDS

  • that 'natural dialogue' is kinda lame, but i lost that funny impression after they played like third measure.

  • tangoooooooooooo hahaha

  • frank vignola looks like a grown up mclovin

  • for real lol

  • @TheInundation hahahaha you mean mclovin of superbad?

  • hahahaha so increadibal ! :)

  • omg this is so incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • incredible.. wish they could give a lesson on this

  • And the dorian scale on the minor6 chords...!

  • Holy shit Andreas takes the fucking cake.

  • (O_o)

  • amazing you guys

  • Folks - there is no "magic" scale or mode that will make you sound like a manouche guitarist. You just have to learn the solos and see how they uniquely arrange theem with the same scales we all use to arrange solos in other styles. One little trick, although, is to end phrases on the major sixth of the harmonic minor scale. O

  • @magnuscroify

Harmonic minor has a minor sixth, melodic minor (as well as Dorian mode) has a major sixth. Not that Django bothered with such matters...

  • what fun to watch and play.......

  • what mode are they using

  • Mostly the aolian mode

  • I also hear them using the phrygian. To be honest im not really sure. I would too would love to know what scale is giving them that heavy Gypsy Django sound.

  • It's not good to always try and discern what mode, what scale, etc. Once you get the chords and the FEEL of the swing that stuff comes second nature. Cheers!

  • @Lydianshadow

that's true! but i really belive one should learn the scales first! then play along whit them! some people, like me, didnt had a guitar at home since kid! and didnt listen to that music! i mean, my parents and brothers did never listen this music or any kind of jazz blues or old rock!! so! i really suggest to listen to alot of jazz and blues, then the FELL come alone!

  • arpeggio's

  • FROM HELL!!!

  • @contrarew It's the dorian scale over A minor... So the note F# on a A minor chord... Andreas plays in his first solo 2 times. Cool sound!

  • Those guys are absolutely amazing.

  • Boy that's some lesson!

  • Andreas makes me sick.

Not only is he a killer player, (and his guitar that sounds twice as good as Vignolas) but he looks like a nordic god/hollywood film star as well. LOL! ;-D

  • @kapitanswing Yeah, and according to wikipedia he was also a tennis prodigy. Some guys just get it all, eh?
