Dyer is better than Lattimore....Lattimore (IS) South Carolina's run game, without him they can't do nothing, not trying to put him or SC down in any kind of way, but if you look at Dyer, he is in a run oriented team, a team who runs the ball 70% of the time. In both games against SC, Dyer outrushed SC whole team in rushing yards, not saying Lattimore suck, just saying that Dyer is a better RB who can run inbetween tackles with no problem, and he always gain yds after contact.

If I recall correctly and I know that I do, Alshon absolutely pulled his pants down and crapped on your secondary when you were keying in on Lattimore the entire game. So that pretty much negates your argument that all we can do is hand off the ball to Lattimore. Alshon was a consensus first team all american but then again I guess all we can do is hand off to Lattimore so they just had to give that award to someone else.

Anybody on this thread catch the game last night? Lattimore is not real big, but he runs tough (2 touchdowns)and with the exception of one play always made positive yardage on every carry. Georgia, Tenn., FL., should be very concerned because he did well for his first college game and wasn't the main reason for the win. Saw all kinds of weapons that will only improve as the season progresses.
I know this guy is good, but this defense is absolutely awful. They tackle like little girls, and look like they are chickens running with their heads cut off.

Go back and watch the tape, they aren't even trying to tackle him, they are just running in circles. It's hard to tell how good he will be based on this. They do have a legit shot at beating Florida this year, though.
@mrbuttman36 Some of these plays tho can consist of blown plays by the defense, When they play Dorman, Summerville, Sumter, and scrimmage South Pointe, those are schools that have some powerful defenses. Its like that for almost every highschool in the country. Ha we will be good against alot of teams this year, the SEC has something to look out for, Marcus had 54 yards...and 2 TDs in his first college game. hes pretty good

he needs to work on covering up the rock not only did he fumble a lot in the st thomas aquinas game, but he has in a lot of other games, you can tell just by the way he holds onto the ball, he cradles it, i bet the college running back coaches are gonna work on taht with him, but everything else is great

Countylt76,You must not have seen Lattimore play.This young man has the speed to play D1 and he will break many tackles.Scott and Rival did not rate him the number one back in the country cause his name is Marcus.I was at most of his games the last 4 years and he gets the job done.Even Corey Miller tennessee commit and Brandon Willis North Carolina commit had trouble bringing down Latt during pratice the last 3 years at Byrnes.

it would have been nice to get im at auburn. but i dont blame him for choosing usc. at auburn we have michael dyer, onterio mccalebb, eric smith, and mario fannin all who can play rb. so really its not hurting us that we didnt get him. he will break records for usc.
Why is he so highly ranked? Because he played on one of the top 10 teams in the country in HS, playing against top competition and he dominated them. He's got very good size, balance and has good speed, though it's not top flight speed like Lache Seastrunks. He has the ability to make you miss in space while also being able to run you over if necessary. He is a work horse who can carry the ball 30 times a game if necessary.
I was really hoping to get him but oh well. Nothing lost on our part. Its not like he would have even played until his junior year at Auburn because we have so much talent at running back. Probably a good decision because south carolina can't run the ball a lick and needs a little help. Maybe he can help them get a little jump start. He will be their star in the next couple years

Marcus is a smart kid. He has to do what's best for him. Auburn's system is better for him to get to the NFL compared to South Carolina. The only thing that I believe would pull him to South Carolina would be his family, friends, and being true to the state. I just don't believe that he can be too successful at South Carolina because they don't run the ball!
He won't be going to Auburn since they recruited Dyer, and dyer wouldn't have gone to auburn if they had recruited Lattimore. Penn State wouldn't be a bad option, but it's certain that auburn and oregon are out of the running since they recruited other 5 star backs

I'm a south carolina fan and i think auburn is a better fit for his skills than scar because we don't run the ball. every year spurrier says we are going to run more, but it never happens. Auburn is a great fit for lattimore's skills with malzahn. The only thing is like you say family and friends. his sister went to scar and he grew up a gamecock fan. if he wants to be true to his family and friends, its scar. if he goes for football, its auburn.
i have to disagree. Auburns offensive system is not anywhere near built to get a RB ready for the NFL. the only team running a similar system is the Miami Dolphins. South Carolina is a Pro Style attack offense that is going to allow marcus to catch out of the backfield, and run out of the gun. Byrnes and Dorman have similar offensive styles lattimore said that himself.

A RB is only as good as his OL. He has a great OL there at Byrnes. Auburn will have one of the best lines in the SEC next year. Also with big Eric Mack committing today it will only get better for this young man on the Plains. War Eagle!

Drewbul1....i think you may have gotten miles and maddox mixed up. miles is nothing like a fb, especially since he's about 5'9". Miles makes some pretty decent cuts and is much quicker than Maddox. Maddox is the one that needs to run like a fullback since he is a bigger back.
if lattimore along with the committed 3 espn 150 all american linemen coming to carolina. with lattimore, maddox, and miles in the backfield its game over with our ptoential blocking and with garcia throwing the ball to gurley and jefferys the offense will be unstoppable

ok. . .Im glad Lattimore is use to running from shotgun, cause thats all he"ll do at Carolina with our O'line. But I see yet again we recruited a RB too slow to break away and one who can't break tackles. If you cant do those two things in H.S. how you gonna do it in the SEC against Florida or Bama'

sydates i hate to say it but elite acceleration is what he needs to work on the most :D.. He Breaks tackle like King Kong on Beaver Tranquilizers though. I really cant wait to see this kid next year!!! AND I WANNA SEE HOW CONNOR SHAW TURNS OUT AS A QB.

Countylt76,You must not have seen Lattimore play.This young man has the speed to play D1 and he will break many tackles.Scott and Rival did not rate him the number one back in the country cause his name is Marcus.I was at most of his games the last 4 years and he gets the job done.Even Corey Miller tennessee commit and Brandon Willis North Carolina commit had trouble bringing down Latt during pratice the last 3 years at Byrnes.

Why is he so highly ranked? Because he played on one of the top 10 teams in the country in HS, playing against top competition and he dominated them. He's got very good size, balance and has good speed, though it's not top flight speed like Lache Seastrunks. He has the ability to make you miss in space while also being able to run you over if necessary. He is a work horse who can carry the ball 30 times a game if necessary.

I was really hoping to get him but oh well. Nothing lost on our part. Its not like he would have even played until his junior year at Auburn because we have so much talent at running back. Probably a good decision because south carolina can't run the ball a lick and needs a little help. Maybe he can help them get a little jump start. He will be their star in the next couple years

Marcus is a smart kid. He has to do what's best for him. Auburn's system is better for him to get to the NFL compared to South Carolina. The only thing that I believe would pull him to South Carolina would be his family, friends, and being true to the state. I just don't believe that he can be too successful at South Carolina because they don't run the ball!

He won't be going to Auburn since they recruited Dyer, and dyer wouldn't have gone to auburn if they had recruited Lattimore. Penn State wouldn't be a bad option, but it's certain that auburn and oregon are out of the running since they recruited other 5 star backs

I'm a south carolina fan and i think auburn is a better fit for his skills than scar because we don't run the ball. every year spurrier says we are going to run more, but it never happens. Auburn is a great fit for lattimore's skills with malzahn. The only thing is like you say family and friends. his sister went to scar and he grew up a gamecock fan. if he wants to be true to his family and friends, its scar. if he goes for football, its auburn.

i have to disagree. Auburns offensive system is not anywhere near built to get a RB ready for the NFL. the only team running a similar system is the Miami Dolphins. South Carolina is a Pro Style attack offense that is going to allow marcus to catch out of the backfield, and run out of the gun. Byrnes and Dorman have similar offensive styles lattimore said that himself.

Many believe they are the fron runner for you, is that true?" Then Latt replied saying, "honestly, if I was going to South Carolina, I would have already been committed to them.." A RB is only as good as his OL. He has a great OL there at Byrnes. Auburn will have one of the best lines in the SEC next year. Also with big Eric Mack committing today it will only get better for this young man on the Plains. War Eagle!

you already got LaMichael James whos a beast, this guy is overrated any ways, not saying hes not good but after watching these highlights he doesnt look like a 5 star recruit to me. go check out brandon bourbon, he runs faster than this guy, benches more, Squats more, sure he plays against weak teams but he is a beast. plus you guys already got Dontae Williams.

It's a recruiting ploy and rarely actually happens. S.C. just doesn't have the talent around him. PSU is #6 in recruiting and UGA is #10. S.C. is #31. Their program is unstable and Richt might be gone if he has another mediocre season. He might head to penn st but he wants to be close to home so USCe and AU are his leaders.

@thundrlzd30 You make a good point. PSU is probably the best bet for him. Their starting running back will be a senior next year and I don't think they have a lot of depth at that position. He would likely see playing time as a freshman and start as a sophomore. For his sake, I hope his desire to stay close to home does not hurt his future. I'm a Florida fan, so I hope he stays in the SEC, but that's probably not what is best for him. I guess only time will tell.

Drewbul1....i think you may have gotten miles and maddox mixed up. miles is nothing like a fb, especially since he's about 5'9". Miles makes some pretty decent cuts and is much quicker than Maddox. Maddox is the one that needs to run like a fullback since he is a bigger back.
