  • Dude amazing video. my high jump coach doesnt ever give me workouts anymore and i havent had a chance to work on technique cuz i havent we have meets every other day :(

  • You don't roll over the bar , keep the head pulled back for longer and thrust that shoulder up after takeoff...

I don't mean to be the all knowing douche but we have to help each other in the sport

  • Nice video dude, my butt dropping is a big problem at 6'2"/6'3". I have a video up of me clearing 6' indoors and I always use it as a reference before I have a meet. Unfortunately I still drop my butt too early, lol.

  • i have the same problem!

  • This is so beneficial! I'm a high-jumper and seeing someone else doing it right gives me new goals and new ways to improve my technique! Thank you so much for posting!

  • goddamn i feel so white LOL im 13 and i cant make it over 5ft, i mean, i make it over, but i always clip my feet on the bar on the way down, and im a good 4 or 5 in. over the bar, so i could go higher, i just cant kick my legs up very high

  • nice dude i wisy you were a coach

  • Thank you for this video man.. you actually would make a very good coach and i just wanna say thank you for this video. it helped me tremendously!

  • thank you so much for posting this. the problem i always seem to have is marking my steps. is there a certian way to go about it? i'm only able to get 5'6'' and i eye ball it. but i really want to feel more confiendent while jumping

  • from the pop up point, depending on what side you come from - about 2 feet from the center, go about a foot away from the bar. hold that mark with your plant foot, and stretch back your opposite foot as far without too much strain, and that'll be your first step. repeat twice for your 3-step mark and four more times 5-step mark. from those steps, sprint to the bar at a low height, and take off - film yourself jumping, and adjust so that you have a comfortable takeoff point and clearance.

  • from there, turn around so your back is towards the pit, and bound 5 times, and mark where your 5th step lands. if you did this correctly, you'll have 5 bound steps, then 5 sprint steps. Always do run throughs at low heights so you can drive up at the correct point and get comfortable, without worrying about wasting energy. after you get a comfortable mark, measure it out - one measurement parallel to the bar (starting from the innermost part of the standard) and one perpendicular, making an L.

  • work with it, get them perfect, and get them accurate. when you start getting higher, you'll have to move your step back little by little, and out a bit to accomodate. it takes a ton of time, but trust me - having steps, and trusting them, will help tremendously. my other channel - joemokicksass - has some of my high school jumps... check it out, hope all of that helps.
