  • I have some porcalin tile around my fireplace I want to tile over. Is it the same steps? Or can I just use some maystic and tile over it?

  • Cool video Betterpaths! Could you please write the complete list of ingredients ?

I´m learnig english :( and its a bit hard to understand. Thanks!

  • Betterpaths, do you offer contracting services? I would like to get someone to come to do a job in the Virgin Islands - concrete over tile just like in this video.

  • Anytime scuba diving and fishing is nearby I am available for contracting. Call our office when you can at 800-324-1719 Take care!

  • @betterpaths Will do. Should I ask for anyone in particular?

  • Ask for Tammi. Take care

  • Hi Bryan. Great video. I also have asbestos tiles but everything I read says it is dangerous to sand, scrape or remove them. Can a concrete overlay be done without sanding the asbestos tiles? What can happen if you don't sand? Thanks.

  • I would fear the thought of sanding asbestos, if you really wanted to do an overlay it can be done successfully over your asbestos tile. Minus the sanding, put your focus on cleaning the surface the best you can with water and clean towels then do a final clean with denatured alcohol and clean towels. Treat your floor in the likeness of painting a car, clean, clean, clean, no contaminants or smudges at all. Use our sbc 14,000 polymer full strength with our bond coat. Then normal procedures.

  • Bryan awesome work. I have made a handful of concrete counter-tops but I am interested in doing a concrete wall in a bathroom over existing tile. Is it possible to do a vertical surface or are the mixtures too "liquid"?

  • You can go over the tile on the bathroom wall! You still need to scuff up your tile and the use of a hopper gun will make the application much easier for getting the majority of your material on to the wall. The marble coat mix we have works the best because you can polish it out with sand paper or polishing pads to make it reflective like real marble. Take care and thanks for the compliment!

  • First, THANKS a lot for this vid!! Now: I'm going to try to do this over old terrazo tiles of my rented office where I need to do something really cheap; but I'm in México and wonder about some of the supplies. Did you use regular alcohol ?? Then, what is a concrete retarder? Don't think we have that here. If I can't find it, what else can I use? Does regular portland cement will do?? And how thin can it be?

Thanks and best regards from Yucatán!!

  • If you have problems getting any supplies local, we can ship what you need out to you. Thanks and take care, Bryan

  • Thanks a million. I will get back with you.

  • Bryan what's the smallest amount of marble mix i can purchase to do a test?

  • I just bought a house with asbestos tiles in the basement, would this work on asbestos?

  • As long as they are in tact, yes.

  • Would this work over 16 inch concrete pavers that have been layed for a 100 square foot patio?

  • If I were doing it for myself I would lay 1/4" diamond wire or metal lathe down first for the purpose of binding the pavers together and securing them with a bond coat. If the substrate underneath is iffy, I would say don't do it. But them again, I am one of those guys that believes almost anything is possible, it just takes more work sometimes to make it so. Take Care, Bryan G.

  • I am looking a doing this same method over the tile in my house. I'm receiving opposite suggestions from contractors. Most are saying that you should never go over tile. How would you respond to them? Thanks!

  • Our method works and we offer Lifetime Warranties on all work SBC installs. You will need to do a soundness test throughout, a simple mop handle, or tow chain will work fine. Tap throughout to expose weak tiles. If the majority of the tile sounds weak, then this may not be an option. After proper scuffing and prepping, your old tile can be transformed into any decorative concrete finish from, seamless marble, granite, travertine, slate, stone, or a simple acid stained micro topping.

  • awesome video... thanks
