The Pope makes ONE statement & you are quick to attack everythiing he says. How about this-why don't you look @ the RC Church as a fine example-we don't spend our Sunday Church time ridiculing, attacking and making snide remarks about other Christian Churches-we worship as was done in our early church during the very first century. If you don't have something nice to say about others then don't say anything @ all.
i´m not a catholic but a re you a moron? sorry but your arguments are so lame and stuoid!!! i m not defending the pope because i think he is wrong in all. You know nothing about GOD at all GOD is love and forgiving father , you are alive because HE gave you life. You are taking verses out of context. YOU ARE ANGRY AGAINST GOD FOR A REASON. YOU HATE GOD BUT HE LOVES U
@boochainletters12 well it was violent yes of course, but it was necessary because of extended evil in that time. I know it´s hard to grasp there was no way out in some cases for instance the flood. Imagine WW 2 the good guys had to go and kill enemies if not nazies would take over the world and millions wouls be terminated. So it´s asituation of life or death, it´s not nice but..
@ignacioarg777 So you're telling me that your omnipotent, omniscient god just couldn't figure out something that he could do other than commit mass murder of a global scale? Doesn't that render your god pretty weak, mentally and magically?
@boochainletters12 No you said so. HE just knows all and is almighty. There is something called justice when you break the law one dayyou´ll pay for it. GOD is powerfull strong and does not need magic to be GOD.
@ignacioarg777 If you do something that breaks any or all known laws of physics, and there is no other explanation for it, I'd call it magic. Such as... poofing people into existence and creating alternate dimensions for certain things (Heaven, Hell, the universe)
That's funny, because he appears to act in a rather unloving and unforgiving way to a rather large number of people, both in the Bible and the modern world. Puzzling, eh?
"You are taking verses out of context"
How can you take direct orders to murder, rape and commit genocide 'out of context'?
@guitarpedant well i see you don´t know about the true GOD that-s why you say such a false statment. Maybe you are angry against GOD because of something in the past but is not HIS fault
@ignacioarg777 If you mean to tell me that your god does not support rape, murder, genocide, infanticide, torture, slavery and infinite punishment for finite crimes, I say go read your bible.
By the way - Infinite punishment for finite crimes is infinitely immoral. It's worse than tying someone to a bed for years and methodically torturing them for stealing a 20c lollipop, because that as an end.
@ignacioarg777 "well i see you don´t know about the true GOD that-s why you say such a false statment" (sic)
Well not really. Have you read the Bible? He was pretty unforgiving to *everyone except Noah's family* when He sent the flood. He was quite unloving towards the Midianites when He ordered their genocide and the rape of their virgins. He is rather unforgiving to all the people he sends to Hell for eternity for not praising and loving Him. Do not be stupid, my friend.
Truly I am not trying to insult anyone who is Catholic, Christian or any who believe in and stand behind the Bible. Please read the many different verses on rape, murder, genital mutilation and treatment of women. I don't want to display all the verses but I will if needed. There is no nice way to explain.
Christians- please answer without dancing around the issue and just answer the question. No need for a rant on semantics of what God is. The words on the paper in the Bible say and command Many many horrible things. I am not interpreting it any special way ( that would against what God says about his Bible anyway). Why are there so many horrible things done and commanded to do in the Bible? Again, if God is good and fair and love and peace. Why are there so many viscous acts of violence done an
@paramattic70 1) you need to ger saved.2) because of the fallen nature of mankins these things happen The people in the old testament did terrible things nad came a judgment upon them. You can discuss about it but the were so currupted they didin´t want to change their ways so no way out for them. 3) bible is honest and tells all the good and the bad. 4) i m not a catholic so the vatican is evil and wrong
@ignacioarg777 "The people in the old testament did terrible things nad came a judgment upon them"
What, they did terrible things like... not worshipping Yahweh? Or... having sex with other men? Etc. You realise that the Old Testament requires that we stone gays, disobedient children and adulterers to death, don't you? And Jesus fully supported Old Testament law. If you read the Bible, you soon discover that God is evil. Except that he doesn't exist. Thank fuck.
However i do agree, the pope is a heretic and a hypocrit, he knows nothing of christianity or religion at all, coerces people to pay him money "for God" and scams them for billions because he tells them he's God on earth lol. And there are people out there who still eat this sh*t up.
A common misconception and one you've made in your video at the end you say: "now if God AND Allah..."....Alot of people don't seem to know that "Allah" literally means "The God" in the arabic language in other words it means "God". Who is The same God talked about in the Torah and the Gospels. It is not a name of a diety or a different God than the one jews and christians believe in as some have been led to believe.
Also it doesnt matter what you say or what you consider obvious....human beings will stand by their beliefs no matter what and fight to the death believing them no matter how bizarre (Americans and the so called terrorists)
You are wrong about the pope....he is a human being and will say what ever pops into his head to support his subject just like the rest of us human beings.
There are no commandments about raping kids therefore no one in the vatican thinks its a big deal
@SSTriplePilipinas In modern society one does NOT execute the guilty. Most of the western world does not have capital punishment. Yes, the US has capital punishment. Modern countries (like Spain and Italy) don't even extradite murderers to US due to your primitive ways. We got beyond the backward teachings of christianity years ago.
Even the prisoners "chose to follow Pharaoh"? How did Egypt chose Pharaoh? An election?
The only "wage of sin is death"? Unfortunately, christians often lack charity
@rictunney Only in a just court is the fate of a sinner is to be decided. God only killed those who to be killed. Egypt chose to follow the Pharaoh. If they did not want the Pharaoh as their leader they could leave Egypt, or rebel. Egypt had slaves (the Jews) that were freed by God because no nation should be built at the cost of liberty of another.
dude, I see that you have done your homework and that you think about what you say before you say it, but dude you are one aggressive atheist man, you are not only imposing you belief on others but you are also ripping up other peoples belief and that is not cool. I get that you think that you are helping these people but some people need faith in something to keep them getting out of the bed in the morning and just because you don't like their religious views doesn't mean that you should troll.
I like this video and it makes a good point.. but I don't really think it proves the Pope has never read the Bible. Alot of Christians I know will consistently claim that violence is contrary to God's nature.... Now, I think they're in denial... unless... THEY'VE NEVER READ THE BIBLE :O (MINDF***!)
Okay this person who made this video MUST be atheist, Yes, maybe violence IS IN FACT against gods nature. Maybe it isn't, the only thing you can prove is that the christian god is violent....or at least early Christians and Jews intended him to be. You should really say Christian in parenthesis before you say God, because everyone who believe in god isn't a christian, and doesn't abide or believe in the bible.
Why? Why would it matter what people say about any god? Why call out a specific religion for being ignorant when all gods are used as explanations for things people do not understand? Zeus was an explanation for thunder and lightning, Odin for the force of war and death, Anubis takes people into the underworld, and monotheistic God (creative naming) is a catch all for every single one of these ignorant reactions to reality.
Why make bones about which god he's talking about?
i need to stop watching these videos. even charlie chaplin's speech is not enough to remedy the close-minded freaks that spam the comments sections. my mind is screaming
@GIIVideo so you're an atheist and have presumably never read the bible. How do you know that God is the most repulsive "creature" ever imagined? Did you study theology, or did you must google it. And who gives a rats ass if the pope hasnt read the bible, you should only care wheter YOU have read the bible. You're an ignorant close minded dickhead
@theoneandonlytiddly He cited the bible in this video before making that statement. Of course he's read the bible.
Why should anybody be concerned about whether or not they have read the bible? Quotes like the one cited in this video should be enough to let any person know that the bible is something to stay away from.
Do you have any kind of reason behind your assertion that he should be concerned about whether or not he's read the bible?
@nanoday1 citing the bible doesnt count for shit. Theres google and wikipedia.
People should be concerned whether or not theyve read the bible because if theyre a christian then they should read the bible, and when did i say that he shuold be concerned about himself reading the bible. I said that christians shuold only worry if theyve read the bible.
Yeah and who would want to stay away from eternal salvation and the blessings of God.
Don't put all Chrstians with the pope. The pope is catholic and not all Chrstians are catholic. Muslims who believe in Allah also believe in the Hebrew God and the Christian God. They are the same God. The God of Abraham. Lastly, this video is crap. If i bothered listening to it again I'm sure I could pick out more mistakes you've made. Reading the Bible is one thing. Studying it is another. Get your facts straight before you rant.
@SoftSailz they follow the same holy book, very few of them have a working knowledge of it beyond the warm fuzzy bits that the priests tell them every week.
simply because the church has split at least 38000 times (the number of known denominations of christianity in america as of just a few years ago) doesnt mean they are all different and unique, its all the same shit.
just because some dont follow the pope doesnt mean that some are exempt from these facts
well man, its a man created religion , very very old , A person living in the old times must have thought Judgement day would come, but somehow it really did not ..... laa
The fact that this has over 200,000 hits is a statement in itself about the sheer number of idiots in the world. If it wasn't for the Pope, you would have no Bible to read ... he even decided what books belong in the Bible ... GIIVideo is an ignoramus :)
@BuffyGracie God created all and will judge those who clearly are bent on doing evil. We are nothing and have no right to judge anyone.
He didn't demand rape - please cite where in scripture he DEMANDS *rape*.
But meanwhile we murder over 50 MILLION of our own sons and daughers in the past 40 years alone, millions more every year. We justify this by judging God? We will be without excuse on our day of judgment, myself included, if we do not repent and turn to Christ.
@MrOribear RE: “The only thing i learnt from this vid is the author has never read the bible either” --- I’ve seen quite a few of his video’s. He is pretty well versed in the Holy Bible actually & as well as some other divine religions. You should see them.
@RRoocckkyy50 he may know some scriptures but he is unfamiliar with our creators personality or his will.I wouldnt even bother watching his other crappy especially if they are full of crap like this one!!
@MrOribear Are you familiar with your "creators" personality? If so, how? I expect it's through your interpretation of claims and statements written in said scriptures--in a couple thousand-year old compilation of texts(a.k.a. The Holy Bible). In which case, you have no basis to argue that your familiarity with the "creators" personality is more valid and/or intimate than his.
@OnefourthAsianguy Yep I can tell what our creators personality is like by having a look around at nature, also humans process some of his personality, afterall we were made in his image. Why cant i use the scriptures to prove my point,if this idiot can use the scriptures to bag our creator I should be able to use the same sorce and the scriptures being 1000's years old-so what they are still relevent today as they were back then!!
@MrOrib And again, that does not make your assessment of the creator's personality any more valid. Viewing nature only reveals that God is either A) Non-existent B) Malevolent and sadistic or C) Impotent(meaning it isn't worth worshiping as a God). Given the fact of congenital anomalies, diseases, poverty, natural disasters and mass extinctions BEFORE human intervention, I'd say a "look around at nature" reveals bad news for God. And scripture actually DOES prove his point: Jesus/God are vile.
@OnefourthAsianguy You stated that stoning for crimes back then was brutal considering they are no longer crimes now.I will use adultery as my example, unless you care to give me one urself.Adultery isnt deemed a crime in many countries, obviously ur not married and never had ur missus been unfaithful to you.Coz if you did,you wouldnt be saying crap like ur doing. If you have then you know the pain you go through if ur missus has shagged someone else and the problems that arise out of it!!
@MrOrib What exactly does this have to do with the fact that your "god", not only advocated, but ordered the savage deaths of thousands upon thousands of infants, ordered the ruthless stoning of people for the most insignificant things? Things like teen disobedience(which is hormonal) gayness(which is hormonal and genetic) and working on the weekend(which is required sometimes, if you want to keep your job). And all I can say about that is, that's why monogamy is silly, it isn't in human nature.
@MrOribear Also, the Bible is nowhere near relevant today. The utterly massive amounts of unfulfilled prophesies, claimed historical events that never took place, brutal punishments for acts that aren't even considered crimes today(stoning seemed to be popular) and blunders stated that have been completely debunked by modern science(i.e. the Earth not being flat, the center of universe and IT going around the sun, rather than the other way around), proves the Bible's absolute uselessness.
@OnefourthAsianguy Of course its relevant today, morals and convictions never go out of fasion. You gunna tell me these massive unfulfilled prophesies you state coz i'll prove you wrong!!What claimed historical events? Crimes against our creator are still crimes whether society says they are or not.Nowhere in scriptures does it say the world is flat, says its a sphere hanging on nothing.Seems you dont know what ur talking about either!!
Morals never go away, but society develops and advances, and changes it's perceptions of what is deemed ethical behavior. The Bibles "morals" are mostly archaic and asinine. Ezekiel 26:1 claimed Tyre would be destroyed and "made a bare rock". Nope. Genesis 17:8 claims the Jews would own the land between the Nile and Euphrates forever. Never happened. "Jesus claimed" he would return during the lifetime of Caiphas. Never... HAPPENED. I could go on and on. But you see the Bible's fallibility by now
@OnefourthAsianguy Morals never go away but society develops and advances and changes? Ur kidding arent you? Since when has societies morals changed for the better? I laugh at ur archaic and asinine statement, holy crap.A break down of morals is why the world is such a screwed up place. If a teenager runs amok and will not listen, then they should be put to death, better to kill them than for them to grow up feral to cause more kaos on society.Homosexual(genetics bullshit)-abomination of our creator
How about the fact that we don't sell our offspring into slavery, anymore? Or, the fact that we don't stone minors who talk back? And what about the fact that we stopped slaughtering infants because "god" was mad? Plus, worldwide, wars have decreased. Sounds like ethical advancement to me. Homosexuality is the result of genes and hormones; all the empirical evidence(something sky daddy-believing loons lack) indicates this. Still have yet to refute(lol) those unfulfilled prophesies. I'll wait...
@MrOribear Historical claims that never happened? How about the Exodus? Approximately 2 million humans(plus livestock) wandering the desert for 40 years, and left behind not a *SHRED* of archaeological evidence. The Great Flood? One single breeding pair of millions of animal species' on a boat for over a month... where was there food source? How were they all gathered? Shit, how would they even be stored? Plus there's no geological evidence for a global flood. The Caeser census? Nada. C'mon man.
@OnefourthAsianguy Ok start with this.Exodus.Why kind of archaelogical evidence would you think they would leave behind? Being wanderers they would not have built any permanent structures, they would of carried the bare essentials.Whose to say if evidence was left behind that noone has found it yet?Its wilderness, not alot of people are out there.Chances of finding anything are slim at best!!
@MrOribear Wrong! How about tools, temporary camping sites, massive amounts of skeletal remains(both human and non-human) etc? That kind of archaeological evidence. All of the evidence, conclusively, shows an indigenous origin of Israelites. That's why the vast majority of archaeologists and Egyptologists say it's as pointless as searching for Noah's ark. The chances are "slim" because IT NEVER HAPPENED.
@OnefourthAsianguy The great flood. Over 40 indigenous cultures have a flood in their histories. There is much proof that a major worldwide flood has occured in earths history.Ask any geologist about the sediments which are found on almost every continent which proves a flood occured.Animals-Our creator directed the animals to the ark.Not millions of species of animals, there wasnt say one pair of poodles and one pair of dingoes or one set of persian cats and one set of lions.
@MrOribear Yeah, stating that 40 cultures have flood myths is fallacious, given the fact that some are based on actual regional floods, all involve completely different characters and storylines and many predate the Biblical flood entirely. Also, coincidentally, practically all of the flood stories of the Middle east/Mediterranean are from coastal cultures. That's because there was a massive tsunami(probably caused by the comet that caused of the Burckle Crater in the Indian Ocean) in that area.
@Mr Oh, two more points I forgot to address. You flat-out lied about a consensus among geologists supporting a Great Flood due to sediment distribution; most say it's impossible, because there should be evenly distributed erosion, yet, there's massive unconformity of sediment. Those rocks are millions of years old. And you don't understand what a species is. Dingoes and Poodles are the same species(C. lupus). Lions and Persian cats are not(P. leo, F. catus, respectively). So, what's a "kind"?^_^
@OnefourthAsianguy Finally, what has 1 chronicle 16:30 got to do with the shape of the earth? I suggest you go back and give me the correct scripture. The rest of ur crap you mentioned about scripture saying one thing and it not being fulfilled.Have you heard me say that scriptures is a hundred percent correct. Some bloke wrote something down thousands of years ago and you telling me it has to be perfect for you to accept its true. There is bound to be some mistakes. Deal with it!!
@MrOribear One more point: The Bible's description of the Earth's shape can be debated. But, not the fact that 1 Chronicles 16:30 claims the planet Earth is immobile. When, in fact, it revolves around the sun, along with the other orbital bodies. lol. Harry Potter is less fallible than the Bible. Give up.
@OnefourthAsianguy Give up?? WTF why on earth would i need to give up?You have written nothing which cannot be explained.I have dealt with many pompous pricks in my time and ur all the same. You throw so many different issues into the one conversation and try to throw off.Lets get one thing straight.I am way more intelligent than you,and you will find this out!! So lose ur "holier than thou"attitude and keep to having one issue per conversation coz i dont want overlook any part of ur conversation
@MrOribear I doubt you're more intelligent than I on 3 counts 1) You're a creationist, so your IQ is significantly lower than mine's. 2) You spelled "chaos" as "kaos", even when I'm sure you have spell check. 3) You lack reading comprehension, because I never said 1 Chronicles 16:30 describes the Earth's shape, but rather, (incorrectly, at that) it's inability to move. The bible claims to be the "infallible word of Yahweh", so there should be no mistakes, or than you have no reason to trust it.
How am I "throwing around different issues"? I'm pointing out every inconsistency in that silly little pamphlet; are they not related? You deluded kooks argue for the Bible's divine nature but, in typical fashion, as soon as someone points out the absolute buffoonery of it's bed time stories, you back-peddle and cry foul and start whining about how the Bible was "changed" and "we're taking it out of context" and "blokes wrote it". lol. Well, then what part is true and divine? The parts you like
You say God is the most violent ever imagined by man - yet we are the ones that kill our sons and daughters because it's too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted. We are the ones that make it "nice and legal-like" - and we kill MILLIONS of our own sons and daughters every year.
Yet we kid ourselves into thinking God is the most violent to ease our conscience from the truth that we are ones who are barbarians and will deserve whatever punishment we get from God.
@ForumLight but don't worry they go to heaven - so abortion is doing them a favor really:)
But the church was sooo concerned about abortion, maybe they should teach their kids about safe sex instead of this head-in-the-sand abstinence thing. Countries with the lowest teen pregnancy and abortion statistics? Guess what - they also have the lowest percentages of religious belief.
@ralph17p To pretend we kill our sons or daughters for doing nothing so they can get to heaven only exposes yet again how wicked we truly are as that is not why we do it in the least.
Mankind's churches most of the time have little to do with the truth of God. There can be as many people not following God in the church as there are out of the church. To point to what false churches are doing does not absolve us of our guilt before God - it just shows us we'll have company.
@ForumLight RE: “Yet we kid ourselves into thinking God is the most violent” --- Kid ourselves? Not only is there death & destruction in the tales of the Bible, but there are actual historically chronicled accounts of murders, & genocidal atrocities compliments of the naïve idiots whom were seduced, & mystified by the simple words of a well crafted book of fantasy. Tell me, are you hooked in the lip by the Bible? Craving death & destruction & tyranny are you? Snap out of it you bozo.
@RRoocckkyy50 Rocky: we have killed over 50 MILLION of our OWN sons and daughters in the name of it being too inconvenient to allow him or her to live long enough to be adopted.
The people in the Bible were judged for their actions. What's the excuse we use to make it "ok" for parents to kill millions of their own sons and daughters every year? To call God violent while convenient ignoring how we are barbaric killers of our own children exposes how wicked, blind and hypocritical we truly are.
@ForumLight RE: “The people in the Bible were judged for their actions” --- Aww, the sound of that makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside : ). So your herniated sphincter is about abortion. But it is alright for your God to kill children right? Try reading uhmm: “ 2Kings 2:23-24”. That is where your God had 42 children ripped to pieces by bears because the kids made fun of Elisha’s bald head. WTF is up with that? I’m sure you can make an excuse for that.
@RRoocckkyy50 They mocked a Holy Prophet of God - they were not as "young" as you'd like to believe. For a kid to mock God, mock a prophet of God, is to show how utterly wicked a person really is. Not believe in him/her? That's one thing> openly MOCK them? That shows how utterly wicked we are.
And again, why do we kill over 50 MILLION of our own sons or daughers and it's nice a legal, with millions more every year? What did they do? Nothing! Yet we ignore that altogether and judge God instead.
@ForumLight RE: “They mocked a Holy Prophet of God” --- 2KIings 2:“23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.” How could you sugar coat something like that? Shame on you!
@RRoocckkyy50 Didn't sugar coat it. If you expect people to knowingly mock God and there be no consequences, I don't know what to tell you.
Ask yourself why you continue to ignore parents killing their own sons and daughters because it's too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted. Over 50 MILLION sons and daughters killed by their parents in the past seveal decades alone. What did those sons and daughters do? Not a thing.
@ForumLight RE: “Ask yourself why you continue to ignore parents killing their own sons and daughters” --- Yes you’ve said this a dozen times already. What exactly is it that you are talking about? Abortion? It might prove best expressing that on another channel that would concern that issue. And if you believe your god is not a jackass for killing children, then you shouldn’t worry about how & what real people decide they need to do.
@RRoocckkyy50 There is nothing in the Bible to compare to killing 50 MILLION of our own sons and daughters who did *nothing* but are killed for no other reasons than it being too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted.
There are always false religions - it does not absolve us of our own guilt just because we notice people clearly not following God's Word - it only means they're most likely as guilty as we are. And we are all guilty until we eventually repent.
@Aviti100 Re: “uhh..and rape and murder and plunder and mass killings/genocide..all the work of the great god of the bible...haa” >< I think you sent this to the wrong person. I have no record of any exchange with you.
The conclusion here is ridiculous, but Christians do tend to avoid grey areas of the Bible without explanation and cherry pick the passages that they support. Mind you, this whole video is made up of cherry picked quotes that does not show both sides of the issue.
god is far from just, yes he did kill alot of innocent children to punish their parent, is that just or fair? has others sacraficing their children to test their faith, but if he is all knowing he should have know already.
I remember reading about some research suggesting that Yahweh was not originally a monotheistic God of All, rather, he was originally a god of War.
This theory actually makes sense. If a powerful general had taken political power too, the war god would become more prominent. If this general was enough of an asshole, other gods might end up banned.
Christianity and the other centralized desert dogmas have plagued this Earth for too long. It would be time for them to just disappear into the annals of history. Long live secularism!
This video has a good point, but it totally ignores a truth about people. People are VERY good at COMPARTMENTALIZING. They make excuses for this passage or that passage, they say the old testament is not binding anymore, that it's just there as the history of religion. They interpret violent passages to be justified in some crazy way.
Point being, the pope, and MANY religious ppl HAVE READ their holy books, but they compartmentalize, misinterpret, and make excuses for their beloved dogma.
Oh dang, another one of your vides by mistake. BTW God is not a creature IT is a spirit. Once again you need to read the bible more. God can do what ever he pleases with whom ever he pleases. He made you out dust and into dust he will make you.
@kickfliprommo Oh look you made several glaring mistakes in your very unintelligent sounding post. Because you, like the maker of the vid aren't perfect. No one is (not any entitiy, spirit, ghost, imaginary friend, not even Joe Pesci) There are mistakes in these videos but there are very good points in them. You would do well to get out your bible, and read the parts he talks about and you will see how truly INSANE and how ridiculously FAR FROM PERFECT it really is. Tho I know you won't!
Interesting video, try website Jesusneverexisted. Also Earl Doherty, 'Jesus Puzzle', G.A. Wells, 'The historical evidence for Jesus', Richard Carrier, ' Not the impossible faith', John W. Loftus, 'Why I became an atheist', Dan Barker ' Godless', Victor J Stenger, 'God, the failed hypothesis'& 'The New atheism'.Youtube video, "The God who wasn't there" or ZomGitsCriss. Was there no human Jesus or a real human Jesus who was mistaken about there being a supernatural realm?
The Pope and Catholics are NOT Christians, so what you say might be true (Pope has no knowledge) BUT has nothing to do with Christians, so DON"T Mix things, if for you "Christian" means "Catholic" your pretty Ignorant my friend. True Christians DO READ THE BIBLE and false Christians are not Christians logically as false diamonds are not diamonds. By the same token, Allah is a demon, nothing to do with Jehovah.
@rockethead555 If you have actually read it(and understood it) and still believe it, your a fucking moron. I dont mean read only the verses you Preacher tells you to, I mean COVER TO COVER.
@MythicSolider989 Your argument is childish at best. Your big donkey ears impede your understanding of what you are incapable. The Bible and the spiritual realm is not about "believing because my little brain says so" but rather "believing because I know that I know and I have a revelation, discernment and wisdom" . . "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom ...Prov 9:10 . even going through logical thinking just because you dont believe it to be true doesn't mean it isn't
@rockethead555 Childish? Its "childish" to not believe in fairy tales. I'll be honest, I believed in God and the Bible all my life until a few years ago, after doing a shit ton of research. My research started out as trying to find things that prove the bible right(at the time I had no doubts what so ever) and it quickly turned into finding things that prove the bible wrong. And the evidence that proves it wrong is overwhelming. And just because YOU believe it to be true doesn't mean it is.
@NUTCASE71733 "by definition" is your definition neophyte, didn't you read my post I said "a false diamond is not a diamond, and a false Christian is Not a Christian" even if called so. Hence, false worship is not worship, not Christian worship therefore you are not Christian. Learn to read and pay attention to all the words before spitting out incoherences. True Christians = Have a relationship w/Jesus and are saved, to false Christians He will say "I never knew you. . ." Mat 7:23
The Pope has read the bible; in fact he wrote an excellent encyclical on the bible titled "Verbum Domini". I invite ALL to read this great work and get a better perspective on the Holy Writ.
The Pope wouldn't dare try to enforce the ridicules rules in the Bible - been there done that! So now preachers preach in a PC manner. If Science were to falter - as it may due to failing education standards - then asserted ignorance will rear its not so pretty head. It will be a 'Back to Bible Basics' in so many ways... it will give many religious fundamentalists a wet dream.
The Pope is like a Politician, and can display false sincerity just as easily.
The Bible is made up of fairy tales. Humans in the past were not as intelligent as we are nowadays. People believes in God because there are lots of things that can't be explained. The Pope simply took advantage of the beliefs of those dumbasses and brainwash them with the fucking Bible. Tell me, if the Bible was created in the 21st Century instead. Would you believe that bullshit? I bet 99% humans will disregard the Bible and think it's a total bullshit.
I know. I was just recently asking another person on YT and I asked: why do infants, you, and I deserve death? He claimed that so I was questioning why, I thought he was going to say because Adam munched on an apple or something of the sort. He told me because we all are sinners, regardless of age. He then told me it was OK that infants and children died because they would go to heaven. He was still vague on the sin he was speaking of.
@shimauma YOu are totally wrong. The Cath corrupted the Bible rather should we say. They added anathema books therefore violating what The Lord prohibited in Rev 22:19. Not only that but they invented doctrines, rituals, dogmas, etc, strange to what God ordained. They "mystified" and "ritualized" Gods Word and made a devil's cult out of it, abused, killed and robed people throughout the Centuries, the Popes have been one of the biggest ignominies in human history and Religion
@rockethead555 I don't believe in faerie tales so I'm not terribly interested in long debates about mythology, HOWEVER from a purely historical perspective, there was no bible before the catholic church put it together. The de-ritualisation of religion is a modern phenomenon, it is religion adopting to a more secular society.
I don't agree with your video in the last part, since muslims do exactly what the Qu'ran tells them to do. Homosexuality? They will homosexuals stoned to death, if your woman is unfaithful to you she'll be dead, if you engage with a woman and she's not virgin she will be stoned to death. If you are a criminal, they'll chop off your hands (which I see right, if this was applied, then there wouldn't be people commiting crimes). So the only stupid ones are those who claim to be christians.
Oh dear, so first you try to criticize a Christian by quoting the Hebrew Bible at him. Good job. Taking anything in the Hebrew Bible without a Christ-ian perspective to beat a Christian over the head with is just a lame duck.
Second you assert that simply because God has figuratively or literally been associated with violent acts it is 'natural' to him. That simply won't do. The Hebrew God is always giving everyone opportunities to evade punishment, which comes last, not first.
@MrWildbill20056 He made all the fucking rules! He supposedly made EVERYTHING, didn't he? Including time, destiny, life, death, suffering and all that shit. You telling me he isn't even responsible for his own actions? So much for omniscience and omnipotence.
And please stop trying to segregate the Torah from the Bible. As a Christian, you automatically accept the Torah. IT IS PART OF THE OLD TESTAMENT, goddam it; but you obviously pick and choose what you like, so why do I bother...
@GabSte1989 Are you saying because God is omnipotent, he is automatically responsible for 'everything' including the outcome of our own choices. The God you envision turns us into cosmic puppets who never get to decide anything for themselves. No thanks!
Further we MUST distinguish the two Bibles! It's essential for us to begin to know how to read them. You also totally ignored my position that one must consider it through the lens of the life of Christ ie the Christian perspective. Oh dear!
@GabSte1989 Otherwise known as you not having an argument. Dressing up being unequipped to have the conversaion with 'attitude' is just pathetic. Giving the benefit of the doubt intellectually speaking, deliberate ignorance is just so pitiable.
@MrWildbill20056 Seek help? For being juvenile? Sure, whatever you say. Am I to understand that you are already receiving help for believing in something completely supernatural for which there is no evidence? I mean, I consider immaturity to be lower on the scale of craziness compared to, say, being an adult who believes in Santa Claus. But hey, I guess it depends on how you interpret things, right?
What you may call an "argument", I may call a sorry execution of your mental faculties.
@GabSte1989 [continued] To be fair, however, I have to say that talking about theism and theistic religions in general, arguments mean nothing if you don't back them up with something real. And that just isn't possible for you, buddy. Well, not yet, anyway. If there comes a day when a god decides enough is enough and shows himself/herself/itself then we'll all have to accept that particular god exists and his fans were right about him. This is not that day, your arguments still mean nothing.
@GabSte1989 Whoever this is directed to you are simply illustrating your hopelessly simplistic view of the matter. You would happily accept all sorts of non empirical science as 'legitimate' I assume e.g. String theory (M theory), Multiverse theory etc.
However you make a demand of 'God' who/which by definition would not be amenable to empirical investigation. To make this clear empirical science only has relevance in and of the universe. 'God' if extant is not 'of' or 'in' the universe.
@GabSte1989 The above is simply an exercise in unsubstantiated assertion. Thank you for your opinion, however please do not confuse this with a reasoned argument. Comparing sophisticated Christian (in this case) theist beliefs and ideas to Santa, simply illustrates how poor your grasp of said beliefs actually are. Further claiming there is 'no evidence' is just idiotic. You might not find the evidence persuasive, but this assertion is just unadulterated rubbish.
@MrWildbill20056 So why, then, are you not a Muslim? Because they have a boatload of evidence as well. Why were you not persuaded by the fact that the Quran mentions that people are made of water and not dirt as the Bible says.
Search in Google: "quran people are made of water" without quote marks and be enlightened.
The scientific method is the only neutral way you can determine truthfulness. What you did is entrap yourself, like I just shown. Every religion has such evidence.
@GabSte1989 [continued] And, really, sophistication is open to interpretation as well. I'm surprised at you. As an apologist, that should have been obvious to you.
@GabSte1989 To a degree, however the comparison between your view of theism ie not far removed and similar in nature to belief in Santa as an extant supernatural being, and actual theism highlights your over simplistic view. Christ never proposed a 'tooth fairy' deity, despite what you might believe. Further you appear to believe all evidence is of equal weight/quality.
Some interpretations are impossible to avoid and not open to contradiction.
@GabSte1989 Simplicity is admirable in many things, but in reasoning it is simply a limitation. Islam grew out of an existing Christian community. They were essentially the first Mormons, taking an existing philosophy and then adding/modifying to suit their own agenda. Their sources on Christ, who existed 6 centuries earlier and whose extant material dates ~30 years post death, are utterly unreliable in comparison.
All have evidence, but please don't mistake its being of equal quality.
@MrWildbill20056 The same could be said about Jesus and Horus. Plenty of similarities to warrant doubt about the "originality" (for lack of a better word) of the Jesus Christ myth.
Dude, again, if you don't have a neutral standard of evidence, evidence that could be tested, measured or reviewed by anyone, of any belief, how can you possibly think you have stable ground to stand on? There are so many cracks in your floor, that there's rat shit everywhere.
@GabSte1989 [continued] With your last sentence you've practically stated that every religion is right, but some are more right than others. How the Hell does that make any sense?
The only way that makes sense is if you're all guessing, and one guess "seems" or "feels" more accurate than the other. Which is EXACTLY the case. Do I KNOW that this is the case, do I know that God (any god) doesn't exist? No, I don't know. But I strongly, wholeheartedly, unequivocally BELIEVE it!
@GabSte1989 No, with my statement I have said that there is evidence speaking to the history and authenticy of every religion. Simply being able to present evidence does not make your claim correct, anymore than all criminal defence case automatically makes the defendant innocent.
No, you are further in error. One must assess the evidence available and decide which you find more persuasive, it's not a question of just choosing a side to believe arbitrarily. At least in these terms.
@GabSte1989 [continued] If you wondering what the point of that was...
The Hebrew Bible is part of the Christian Bible. You can distinguish between them, but you can't IGNORE any of them.
If God can't be proven to exist or not exist then any sort of scripture or claim made in regards to him are GUESSES, SUPPOSITIONS or LIES and If his almightyness doesn't *want* us to prove he's real then what's the fucking point of continuing with your incessant arguments about evidence?
@GabSte1989 Oh please, watch Zeitgeist a little less. Despite the best efforts of amateurs such as Acharya S, the overwhelming scholarly concensus is that whatever impact other cultures had on the Judeo-Christian heritage began and ended long before Christ. Further Horus/Osiris often confused are so dissimilar as to be utterly irrelevant.
The fact is the extant records which speak to the authenticity of Christ far surpass anything any other religion can offer. It's that simple.
@GabSte1989 Your specifying of 'non biblical' is simply special pleading and not to be tolerated, I'm sorry. The non biblical records we have are quite sufficient to establish an important jewish figure called Jesus existed and no more.
Further in terms of the Gospels, they do not 'originate' decades later, they come into final form ~30 years later for the earliest. That should not be confused with the beginning and end of their formation process.
@MrWildbill20056 Uh-huh... yet another unsubstantiated argument. WHERE IS THIS HIGH QUALITY EVIDENCE?! Are you all bullshit? Because I think not lying was one of the ten commandments.
@GabSte1989 Could you rant a little less. I suspect you will make a special pleading argument to counter this, but here goes anyway :P
The Gospels are extremely high quality evidence, contemporaneous, based on other contemporaneous sources ie Q, easy access to eye witnesses, known encounters with eye witnesses, it's all good :). Please consult the Smithsonian's statements on the value of the Bibles are historicla records in general.
@MrWildbill20056 *I* MAKE SPECIAL PLEADING?! WHAT IS IT YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! You already stated that (you think) god isn't subject to empirical investigation, or that he don't wanna be, clarify that maybe; in any case he can't be proven to exist or not exist. If that's the case then it's logical to conclude anything claimed about him can't be proven either, that makes EVERYTHING your religion has to say SUSPECT AT THE VERY LEAST since it has this one god at it's core and as it's main claim.
@GabSte1989 [continued] And it's also logical to conclude that any sort of argument that is made in regards to your god or your religion's claims is invalid from the get-go.

@ignacioarg777 Under what context is global destruction not violent?
boochainletters12 1 week ago
@boochainletters12 well it was violent yes of course, but it was necessary because of extended evil in that time. I know it´s hard to grasp there was no way out in some cases for instance the flood. Imagine WW 2 the good guys had to go and kill enemies if not nazies would take over the world and millions wouls be terminated. So it´s asituation of life or death, it´s not nice but..
ignacioarg777 1 week ago
@ignacioarg777 So you're telling me that your omnipotent, omniscient god just couldn't figure out something that he could do other than commit mass murder of a global scale? Doesn't that render your god pretty weak, mentally and magically?
boochainletters12 1 week ago
@boochainletters12 No you said so. HE just knows all and is almighty. There is something called justice when you break the law one dayyou´ll pay for it. GOD is powerfull strong and does not need magic to be GOD.

@ignacioarg777 If you do something that breaks any or all known laws of physics, and there is no other explanation for it, I'd call it magic. Such as... poofing people into existence and creating alternate dimensions for certain things (Heaven, Hell, the universe)

@ignacioarg777 "GOD is love and forgiving father"
That's funny, because he appears to act in a rather unloving and unforgiving way to a rather large number of people, both in the Bible and the modern world. Puzzling, eh?

How can you take direct orders to murder, rape and commit genocide 'out of context'?

@ignacioarg777 If you mean to tell me that your god does not support rape, murder, genocide, infanticide, torture, slavery and infinite punishment for finite crimes, I say go read your bible.
By the way - Infinite punishment for finite crimes is infinitely immoral. It's worse than tying someone to a bed for years and methodically torturing them for stealing a 20c lollipop, because that as an end.
boochainletters12 1 week ago
@ignacioarg777 "well i see you don´t know about the true GOD that-s why you say such a false statment" (sic)
Well not really. Have you read the Bible? He was pretty unforgiving to *everyone except Noah's family* when He sent the flood. He was quite unloving towards the Midianites when He ordered their genocide and the rape of their virgins. He is rather unforgiving to all the people he sends to Hell for eternity for not praising and loving Him. Do not be stupid, my friend.

People created the idea of the pope.
The only reason why God drowned the masses is because they were evil. In modern society, do you not execute the guilty?
Egypt chose to follow the pharaoh and that means they shall die in the name of the pharaoh.
Again, in modern society do you not punish those who have done wrong? The only wage of sin is death.
SSTriplePilipinas 2 months ago
@SSTriplePilipinas In modern society one does NOT execute the guilty. Most of the western world does not have capital punishment. Yes, the US has capital punishment. Modern countries (like Spain and Italy) don't even extradite murderers to US due to your primitive ways. We got beyond the backward teachings of christianity years ago.
Even the prisoners "chose to follow Pharaoh"? How did Egypt chose Pharaoh? An election?
The only "wage of sin is death"? Unfortunately, christians often lack charity
rictunney 2 months ago
@rictunney Only in a just court is the fate of a sinner is to be decided. God only killed those who to be killed. Egypt chose to follow the Pharaoh. If they did not want the Pharaoh as their leader they could leave Egypt, or rebel. Egypt had slaves (the Jews) that were freed by God because no nation should be built at the cost of liberty of another.

@nanoday1 citing the bible doesnt count for shit. Theres google and wikipedia.

@RRoocckkyy50 he may know some scriptures but he is unfamiliar with our creators personality or his will.I wouldnt even bother watching his other crappy especially if they are full of crap like this one!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOribear Are you familiar with your "creators" personality? If so, how? I expect it's through your interpretation of claims and statements written in said scriptures--in a couple thousand-year old compilation of texts(a.k.a. The Holy Bible). In which case, you have no basis to argue that your familiarity with the "creators" personality is more valid and/or intimate than his.
Do you agree? If not, please elaborate.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy Yep I can tell what our creators personality is like by having a look around at nature, also humans process some of his personality, afterall we were made in his image. Why cant i use the scriptures to prove my point,if this idiot can use the scriptures to bag our creator I should be able to use the same sorce and the scriptures being 1000's years old-so what they are still relevent today as they were back then!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOrib And again, that does not make your assessment of the creator's personality any more valid. Viewing nature only reveals that God is either A) Non-existent B) Malevolent and sadistic or C) Impotent(meaning it isn't worth worshiping as a God). Given the fact of congenital anomalies, diseases, poverty, natural disasters and mass extinctions BEFORE human intervention, I'd say a "look around at nature" reveals bad news for God. And scripture actually DOES prove his point: Jesus/God are vile.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy You stated that stoning for crimes back then was brutal considering they are no longer crimes now.I will use adultery as my example, unless you care to give me one urself.Adultery isnt deemed a crime in many countries, obviously ur not married and never had ur missus been unfaithful to you.Coz if you did,you wouldnt be saying crap like ur doing. If you have then you know the pain you go through if ur missus has shagged someone else and the problems that arise out of it!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOrib What exactly does this have to do with the fact that your "god", not only advocated, but ordered the savage deaths of thousands upon thousands of infants, ordered the ruthless stoning of people for the most insignificant things? Things like teen disobedience(which is hormonal) gayness(which is hormonal and genetic) and working on the weekend(which is required sometimes, if you want to keep your job). And all I can say about that is, that's why monogamy is silly, it isn't in human nature.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@MrOribear Also, the Bible is nowhere near relevant today. The utterly massive amounts of unfulfilled prophesies, claimed historical events that never took place, brutal punishments for acts that aren't even considered crimes today(stoning seemed to be popular) and blunders stated that have been completely debunked by modern science(i.e. the Earth not being flat, the center of universe and IT going around the sun, rather than the other way around), proves the Bible's absolute uselessness.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy Of course its relevant today, morals and convictions never go out of fasion. You gunna tell me these massive unfulfilled prophesies you state coz i'll prove you wrong!!What claimed historical events? Crimes against our creator are still crimes whether society says they are or not.Nowhere in scriptures does it say the world is flat, says its a sphere hanging on nothing.Seems you dont know what ur talking about either!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
Morals never go away, but society develops and advances, and changes it's perceptions of what is deemed ethical behavior. The Bibles "morals" are mostly archaic and asinine. Ezekiel 26:1 claimed Tyre would be destroyed and "made a bare rock". Nope. Genesis 17:8 claims the Jews would own the land between the Nile and Euphrates forever. Never happened. "Jesus claimed" he would return during the lifetime of Caiphas. Never... HAPPENED. I could go on and on. But you see the Bible's fallibility by now

Homosexuality is the result of genes and hormones; all the empirical evidence(something sky daddy-believing loons lack) indicates this. Still have yet to refute(lol) those unfulfilled prophesies. I'll wait...

Being wanderers they would not have built any permanent structures, they would of carried the bare essentials.Whose to say if evidence was left behind that noone has found it yet?Its wilderness, not alot of people are out there.Chances of finding anything are slim at best!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOribear Wrong! How about tools, temporary camping sites, massive amounts of skeletal remains(both human and non-human) etc? That kind of archaeological evidence. All of the evidence, conclusively, shows an indigenous origin of Israelites. That's why the vast majority of archaeologists and Egyptologists say it's as pointless as searching for Noah's ark. The chances are "slim" because IT NEVER HAPPENED.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy The great flood. Over 40 indigenous cultures have a flood in their histories. There is much proof that a major worldwide flood has occured in earths history.Ask any geologist about the sediments which are found on almost every continent which proves a flood occured.Animals-Our creator directed the animals to the ark.Not millions of species of animals, there wasnt say one pair of poodles and one pair of dingoes or one set of persian cats and one set of lions.
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOribear Yeah, stating that 40 cultures have flood myths is fallacious, given the fact that some are based on actual regional floods, all involve completely different characters and storylines and many predate the Biblical flood entirely. Also, coincidentally, practically all of the flood stories of the Middle east/Mediterranean are from coastal cultures. That's because there was a massive tsunami(probably caused by the comet that caused of the Burckle Crater in the Indian Ocean) in that area.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@Mr Oh, two more points I forgot to address. You flat-out lied about a consensus among geologists supporting a Great Flood due to sediment distribution; most say it's impossible, because there should be evenly distributed erosion, yet, there's massive unconformity of sediment. Those rocks are millions of years old. And you don't understand what a species is. Dingoes and Poodles are the same species(C. lupus). Lions and Persian cats are not(P. leo, F. catus, respectively). So, what's a "kind"?^_^
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy Finally, what has 1 chronicle 16:30 got to do with the shape of the earth? I suggest you go back and give me the correct scripture. The rest of ur crap you mentioned about scripture saying one thing and it not being fulfilled.Have you heard me say that scriptures is a hundred percent correct. Some bloke wrote something down thousands of years ago and you telling me it has to be perfect for you to accept its true. There is bound to be some mistakes. Deal with it!!
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOribear One more point: The Bible's description of the Earth's shape can be debated. But, not the fact that 1 Chronicles 16:30 claims the planet Earth is immobile. When, in fact, it revolves around the sun, along with the other orbital bodies. lol. Harry Potter is less fallible than the Bible. Give up.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
@OnefourthAsianguy Give up?? WTF why on earth would i need to give up?You have written nothing which cannot be explained.I have dealt with many pompous pricks in my time and ur all the same. You throw so many different issues into the one conversation and try to throw off.Lets get one thing straight.I am way more intelligent than you,and you will find this out!! So lose ur "holier than thou"attitude and keep to having one issue per conversation coz i dont want overlook any part of ur conversation
MrOribear 3 months ago
@MrOribear I doubt you're more intelligent than I on 3 counts 1) You're a creationist, so your IQ is significantly lower than mine's. 2) You spelled "chaos" as "kaos", even when I'm sure you have spell check. 3) You lack reading comprehension, because I never said 1 Chronicles 16:30 describes the Earth's shape, but rather, (incorrectly, at that) it's inability to move. The bible claims to be the "infallible word of Yahweh", so there should be no mistakes, or than you have no reason to trust it.
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
How am I "throwing around different issues"? I'm pointing out every inconsistency in that silly little pamphlet; are they not related? You deluded kooks argue for the Bible's divine nature but, in typical fashion, as soon as someone points out the absolute buffoonery of it's bed time stories, you back-peddle and cry foul and start whining about how the Bible was "changed" and "we're taking it out of context" and "blokes wrote it". lol. Well, then what part is true and divine? The parts you like
OnefourthAsianguy 3 months ago
You say God is the most violent ever imagined by man - yet we are the ones that kill our sons and daughters because it's too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted. We are the ones that make it "nice and legal-like" - and we kill MILLIONS of our own sons and daughters every year.
Yet we kid ourselves into thinking God is the most violent to ease our conscience from the truth that we are ones who are barbarians and will deserve whatever punishment we get from God.
ForumLight 3 months ago
@ForumLight but don't worry they go to heaven - so abortion is doing them a favor really:)
But the church was sooo concerned about abortion, maybe they should teach their kids about safe sex instead of this head-in-the-sand abstinence thing. Countries with the lowest teen pregnancy and abortion statistics? Guess what - they also have the lowest percentages of religious belief.
ralph17p 3 months ago
@ralph17p To pretend we kill our sons or daughters for doing nothing so they can get to heaven only exposes yet again how wicked we truly are as that is not why we do it in the least.
Mankind's churches most of the time have little to do with the truth of God. There can be as many people not following God in the church as there are out of the church. To point to what false churches are doing does not absolve us of our guilt before God - it just shows us we'll have company.
ForumLight 3 months ago
@ForumLight RE: “Yet we kid ourselves into thinking God is the most violent” --- Kid ourselves? Not only is there death & destruction in the tales of the Bible, but there are actual historically chronicled accounts of murders, & genocidal atrocities compliments of the naïve idiots whom were seduced, & mystified by the simple words of a well crafted book of fantasy. Tell me, are you hooked in the lip by the Bible? Craving death & destruction & tyranny are you? Snap out of it you bozo.
RRoocckkyy50 3 months ago
@RRoocckkyy50 Rocky: we have killed over 50 MILLION of our OWN sons and daughters in the name of it being too inconvenient to allow him or her to live long enough to be adopted.
The people in the Bible were judged for their actions. What's the excuse we use to make it "ok" for parents to kill millions of their own sons and daughters every year? To call God violent while convenient ignoring how we are barbaric killers of our own children exposes how wicked, blind and hypocritical we truly are.
ForumLight 3 months ago
@ForumLight RE: “The people in the Bible were judged for their actions” --- Aww, the sound of that makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside : ). So your herniated sphincter is about abortion. But it is alright for your God to kill children right? Try reading uhmm: “ 2Kings 2:23-24”. That is where your God had 42 children ripped to pieces by bears because the kids made fun of Elisha’s bald head. WTF is up with that? I’m sure you can make an excuse for that.
RRoocckkyy50 3 months ago
@RRoocckkyy50 They mocked a Holy Prophet of God - they were not as "young" as you'd like to believe. For a kid to mock God, mock a prophet of God, is to show how utterly wicked a person really is. Not believe in him/her? That's one thing> openly MOCK them? That shows how utterly wicked we are.
And again, why do we kill over 50 MILLION of our own sons or daughers and it's nice a legal, with millions more every year? What did they do? Nothing! Yet we ignore that altogether and judge God instead.
ForumLight 3 months ago
@ForumLight RE: “They mocked a Holy Prophet of God” --- 2KIings 2:“23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.” How could you sugar coat something like that? Shame on you!
RRoocckkyy50 3 months ago
@RRoocckkyy50 Didn't sugar coat it. If you expect people to knowingly mock God and there be no consequences, I don't know what to tell you.
Ask yourself why you continue to ignore parents killing their own sons and daughters because it's too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted. Over 50 MILLION sons and daughters killed by their parents in the past seveal decades alone. What did those sons and daughters do? Not a thing.
ForumLight 3 months ago
@ForumLight RE: “Ask yourself why you continue to ignore parents killing their own sons and daughters” --- Yes you’ve said this a dozen times already. What exactly is it that you are talking about? Abortion? It might prove best expressing that on another channel that would concern that issue. And if you believe your god is not a jackass for killing children, then you shouldn’t worry about how & what real people decide they need to do.
RRoocckkyy50 3 months ago
@RRoocckkyy50 There is nothing in the Bible to compare to killing 50 MILLION of our own sons and daughters who did *nothing* but are killed for no other reasons than it being too inconvenient to allow them to live long enough to be adopted.
There are always false religions - it does not absolve us of our own guilt just because we notice people clearly not following God's Word - it only means they're most likely as guilty as we are. And we are all guilty until we eventually repent.

I remember reading about some research suggesting that Yahweh was not originally a monotheistic God of All, rather, he was originally a god of War.
This theory actually makes sense. If a powerful general had taken political power too, the war god would become more prominent. If this general was enough of an asshole, other gods might end up banned.

The Pope has read the bible; in fact he wrote an excellent encyclical on the bible titled "Verbum Domini". I invite ALL to read this great work and get a better perspective on the Holy Writ.
VictoryInJesus454 4 months ago
The Pope wouldn't dare try to enforce the ridicules rules in the Bible - been there done that! So now preachers preach in a PC manner. If Science were to falter - as it may due to failing education standards - then asserted ignorance will rear its not so pretty head. It will be a 'Back to Bible Basics' in so many ways... it will give many religious fundamentalists a wet dream.
The Pope is like a Politician, and can display false sincerity just as easily.
On rare occasion, speak his own words.
EvolBob1 4 months ago

In conclusion, I face-palmed.

shimauma 5 months ago
@shimauma YOu are totally wrong. The Cath corrupted the Bible rather should we say. They added anathema books therefore violating what The Lord prohibited in Rev 22:19. Not only that but they invented doctrines, rituals, dogmas, etc, strange to what God ordained. They "mystified" and "ritualized" Gods Word and made a devil's cult out of it, abused, killed and robed people throughout the Centuries, the Popes have been one of the biggest ignominies in human history and Religion
rockethead555 4 months ago
@rockethead555 I don't believe in faerie tales so I'm not terribly interested in long debates about mythology, HOWEVER from a purely historical perspective, there was no bible before the catholic church put it together. The de-ritualisation of religion is a modern phenomenon, it is religion adopting to a more secular society.

MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 He made all the fucking rules! He supposedly made EVERYTHING, didn't he? Including time, destiny, life, death, suffering and all that shit. You telling me he isn't even responsible for his own actions? So much for omniscience and omnipotence.
And please stop trying to segregate the Torah from the Bible. As a Christian, you automatically accept the Torah. IT IS PART OF THE OLD TESTAMENT, goddam it; but you obviously pick and choose what you like, so why do I bother...
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 Are you saying because God is omnipotent, he is automatically responsible for 'everything' including the outcome of our own choices. The God you envision turns us into cosmic puppets who never get to decide anything for themselves. No thanks!
Further we MUST distinguish the two Bibles! It's essential for us to begin to know how to read them. You also totally ignored my position that one must consider it through the lens of the life of Christ ie the Christian perspective. Oh dear!

MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 Seek help? For being juvenile? Sure, whatever you say. Am I to understand that you are already receiving help for believing in something completely supernatural for which there is no evidence? I mean, I consider immaturity to be lower on the scale of craziness compared to, say, being an adult who believes in Santa Claus. But hey, I guess it depends on how you interpret things, right?
What you may call an "argument", I may call a sorry execution of your mental faculties.
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] To be fair, however, I have to say that talking about theism and theistic religions in general, arguments mean nothing if you don't back them up with something real. And that just isn't possible for you, buddy. Well, not yet, anyway. If there comes a day when a god decides enough is enough and shows himself/herself/itself then we'll all have to accept that particular god exists and his fans were right about him. This is not that day, your arguments still mean nothing.
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 Whoever this is directed to you are simply illustrating your hopelessly simplistic view of the matter. You would happily accept all sorts of non empirical science as 'legitimate' I assume e.g. String theory (M theory), Multiverse theory etc.
However you make a demand of 'God' who/which by definition would not be amenable to empirical investigation. To make this clear empirical science only has relevance in and of the universe. 'God' if extant is not 'of' or 'in' the universe.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 The above is simply an exercise in unsubstantiated assertion. Thank you for your opinion, however please do not confuse this with a reasoned argument. Comparing sophisticated Christian (in this case) theist beliefs and ideas to Santa, simply illustrates how poor your grasp of said beliefs actually are. Further claiming there is 'no evidence' is just idiotic. You might not find the evidence persuasive, but this assertion is just unadulterated rubbish.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 So why, then, are you not a Muslim? Because they have a boatload of evidence as well. Why were you not persuaded by the fact that the Quran mentions that people are made of water and not dirt as the Bible says.
Search in Google: "quran people are made of water" without quote marks and be enlightened.
The scientific method is the only neutral way you can determine truthfulness. What you did is entrap yourself, like I just shown. Every religion has such evidence.
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] And, really, sophistication is open to interpretation as well. I'm surprised at you. As an apologist, that should have been obvious to you.
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 To a degree, however the comparison between your view of theism ie not far removed and similar in nature to belief in Santa as an extant supernatural being, and actual theism highlights your over simplistic view. Christ never proposed a 'tooth fairy' deity, despite what you might believe. Further you appear to believe all evidence is of equal weight/quality.
Some interpretations are impossible to avoid and not open to contradiction.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 Simplicity is admirable in many things, but in reasoning it is simply a limitation. Islam grew out of an existing Christian community. They were essentially the first Mormons, taking an existing philosophy and then adding/modifying to suit their own agenda. Their sources on Christ, who existed 6 centuries earlier and whose extant material dates ~30 years post death, are utterly unreliable in comparison.
All have evidence, but please don't mistake its being of equal quality.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 The same could be said about Jesus and Horus. Plenty of similarities to warrant doubt about the "originality" (for lack of a better word) of the Jesus Christ myth.
Dude, again, if you don't have a neutral standard of evidence, evidence that could be tested, measured or reviewed by anyone, of any belief, how can you possibly think you have stable ground to stand on? There are so many cracks in your floor, that there's rat shit everywhere.
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] With your last sentence you've practically stated that every religion is right, but some are more right than others. How the Hell does that make any sense?
The only way that makes sense is if you're all guessing, and one guess "seems" or "feels" more accurate than the other. Which is EXACTLY the case. Do I KNOW that this is the case, do I know that God (any god) doesn't exist? No, I don't know. But I strongly, wholeheartedly, unequivocally BELIEVE it!
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] And I consider the evidence I have personally experienced to be of the utmost, highest and bestest quality.
Did I make my point?
GabSte1989 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 I see your point, however I question your judgement based on the appeal to Horus.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@GabSte1989 No, with my statement I have said that there is evidence speaking to the history and authenticy of every religion. Simply being able to present evidence does not make your claim correct, anymore than all criminal defence case automatically makes the defendant innocent.
No, you are further in error. One must assess the evidence available and decide which you find more persuasive, it's not a question of just choosing a side to believe arbitrarily. At least in these terms.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 So... to recapitulate:
Distinguish between Torah (most of Old Testament) and Bible.
God is not subject to empirical investigation.
Christ never proposed a "tooth fairy" deity.
All evidence is not of equal quality or weight.
All religions have evidence.
Some interpretations are impossible to avoid and not open to contradiction.
Simply being able to present evidence does not make your claim correct.
Assess the evidence available and decide which you find more persuasive.
GabSte1989 4 months ago
@GabSte1989 Aha? :)
MrWildbill20056 4 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] If you wondering what the point of that was...
The Hebrew Bible is part of the Christian Bible. You can distinguish between them, but you can't IGNORE any of them.
If God can't be proven to exist or not exist then any sort of scripture or claim made in regards to him are GUESSES, SUPPOSITIONS or LIES and If his almightyness doesn't *want* us to prove he's real then what's the fucking point of continuing with your incessant arguments about evidence?
GabSte1989 4 months ago
@GabSte1989 [continued] And can you please tell me where I could find this all this evidence that religions have that somehow prove god.
GabSte1989 4 months ago
@GabSte1989 Oh please, watch Zeitgeist a little less. Despite the best efforts of amateurs such as Acharya S, the overwhelming scholarly concensus is that whatever impact other cultures had on the Judeo-Christian heritage began and ended long before Christ. Further Horus/Osiris often confused are so dissimilar as to be utterly irrelevant.
The fact is the extant records which speak to the authenticity of Christ far surpass anything any other religion can offer. It's that simple.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 You still haven't haven't said what;s that got to do with actually proving that Christ even existed.
