I have it now w/ the 8 Cell and i must say i like it alot! In Notebook mode it tilts the back up towards you a little bit and gives it a really nice look. Also when it's in tablet mode it tilts it just slightly to one side but a big plus is you can see the screen when it's sitting on a table because it's slightly tilted. It gives it a unique look that i thought i wouldn't like but i like it alot. Another huge plus is it is a bigger battery that almost doubles the batter life.
I have this laptop ( I am using it now ) and I love it. The touch screen works really well, and even better when using the pen. It runs really quick and has a lot of cool features that are fun, and practical. The fingerprint scanner is awesome and can be used to store passwords online so you swipe your finger and it logs you in. The wireless also works excellent and is even quicker then my home computer that is hardwired. One thing that I don't like about it is that it takes a while to boot up.
look at the review from the beggining ( part 1 and 2 ) it tells you.. this is the 6 cell version. its fine.. the 8 cell is not good as it tilts the machine to one side
i think yes. coz my dumb ass computer with only 1.9 GHZ and 956 MB OF RAM CAN HANDLE, Firefox(with downloading going on),i tunes, and the camtasia studio screen recorder which is lot.. also a with yahoo, and u torrent running on the background...
the game preview of the sims 3 says that it can be played even with integrated graphics which means you can play it on a small laptop, but maybe you need to have a very fast processor to avoid lag :) hope that helps :)
I think that's what the cost was when it released some time ago. Either that or he's referring to the fact that hp lets you customize it and some options such as having an over 500 gb hard drive will cost extra. It's one those things I'm sure now it's at most 1000 to 650.
It starts out at that configuration but it will really suck. I spent just over $1000.00 for mine including shipping tax and everything else. I also had a $500.00 coupon from HP. The only catch was i had to spend over 1,500 bucks on it to get the 500.00 off. Basically if you pay $650 for it your going to get shit. Just like this guy paid $2000.00 for his model.
great review man i'm glad you spent the time to make it. i was wondering though since i already own office 2007 and just load it on the tablet, will it still have onenote? or would i need to get the software with the computer. in addition, do you think a blu-ray drive could be put in this machine? and would it be any good?
How does this machine handle iTunes? the only 2 programs that are causing me trouble are Microsoft Office and iTunes. But i only have 2 gb ram and Vista Home Premium 32bit. Does iTunes run alright on it?
Excellent review btw!!!
PS. the screen on my friend's TX2Z is duller than yours. Do you think they (HP) revised that, or do you think that it's just the settings?
itunes runs best on a higher bit computer, but it should just be slower, not troubling. microsoft office i'm not sure why, but i'm sure theres some sort of trouble-shooting page. as for itunes, trying uninstalling it and reinstalling it. this won't erase your music as long as your ipod still works.
Sorry for misunderstanding, I actually have 64 bit edition of windows. uninstalling iTunes won't solve this problem. iTunes by itself uses a lot of cpu and ram. So is Microsoft Office. They also freeze frequently. What I wanted to know, actually, is how does HP Touchsmart TXZ2 handle those programs. I am not looking for troubleshoot information
That's the Deskscapes add in from a company called Stardock for DreamScene on Windows Ultimate. Pretty cool. It can be a little flaky but works pretty on on this system
I suppose if you are only buying it for fun and note taking and not doing anything seriously hardcore (like editing hundreds of pics like I do each week) then the base model would be fine.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I received my tx2z today. That screen glare you pointed out is gone, they have upgraded to a screen that has absolutely no glare at all. I am still learning the ropes, been struggling to try to get it to read my fingerprint all night.
The screen that I can see in the video is very shiny, whereas my screen is a bit duller. I cannot see myself at all. The viewing angles are actually quite good. On my other laptop (a Toshiba) I have to twist it almost folding flat to watch a movie. With the touchsmart any angle will give you a great view. I will post a video in a few days once I get more of a hands on with it. Still learning the rope.
PS,anyone know how to switch it from portrait to landscape in tablet mode?
oh, and can you get a Blu-Ray drive instead of the included 8X double-layer drive or whatever it is? I know there isn't an option on the HP site, but I'm wondering if you can get it separate and replace it. :]
I've been looking into this and haven't been able to determine with absolute certainty that this is possible but I think so as I've been interested in this myself. I'll try to contact HP and see if I can get a definite answer.
Absolutely! This is a swiss army computer, you can take handwritten notes on it, watch REAL tv on it with a HDTV tuner, play games on it. It's just an amazing machine.
I just priced out a similar speced unit on HP, its running about $160 less than I paid for it just two months ago, $1721.99 excluding taxes and shipping.
I don't use CS4 myself so I don't have any first hand knowledge. You could try to research the tx2500 series and see what success people have had with it and CS4 as the CPU's & GPU's available for it at the same as the tx2x.
Btw how do you get a moving background like the one you have?
