I also like the scene with the doctors (?) laughing and talking about their their families while a torture victim lies on the table. This is typical of what really does occur in these situations from what I've heard and that is what is truly terrifying about people like this, the way they can compartmentalize things in order to continue doing the nasty things they do to other people.
I think that she actually gets through to him for just a second when he starts to repeat what she says "There is no justification for cruelty of any kind" but he reverts back to the sadistic inquisitor to continue the interrogation. Also, when he mentions the part about looking behind the mask to find his soul's true face ..." It seems so long ago... my soul's true face" one has to wonder if there isn't a grain of truth in this even though he is a habitual liar.
