dudeimdudely...I just saw GNR live, and Axl sings better now than he ever did. GNR played a three hour concert, non-stop, and Axl and the band were freakin' flying the whole time. It was unreal. Consider...back in the day (late 80s, early 90s), Axel was probably doing a bit more drugs and/or drinking...things not too good for the vocal chords. He's older and more mature...he doesn't party that hard anymore, and I think this benefits his voice...that's why he sounded so great in concert recently.

I didn't see him at his recent gig, so if his voice sounded great than I'm happy, but I have not seen anything, live or studio recorded, to suggest that his voice is anywhere near the early 90s.

Because, in lots of the concerts from the early 90's he sucked, his rasp was over-used and it was painful to hear, didn't even sound right. He just screamed his lungs out with no range or tune... His technique and voice are amazing right now, but you have to go and see it live, watch the real thing, you won't regret it.
