Good for him - he's trying to do his job and he's being usurped by someone with a banner

I've been on protests, I would have tried the same trick with my banner - tough tits if I got this treatment.
I don't think he cared about the protest aims per se, he was just annoyed that the banner got in the way of the shot - like those annoying people who pull faces & wave their arms behind someone who's filming
@brixtonbluebeat Its actually a few laws and legislations which regard his actions. The easy one is Breach of the Peace for which anyone can make an arrest. Another would be common law assault. Another Criminal Damage, etc. I don't like having to listen to someone else's music or phone conversations on the train. It does not give me the right to remove said phone and throw it out the window. There is no excuse for this type of action.
Nick is a Dick who would prefer other peoples sons and daugthers fighting in a war for Oil and Power while it kills hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Such childish rage against BBC Licence fee payers who effectively pay Robinson's salary. If the little warmonger loves violence so much maybe he can join the army and attack something other than 'placards'.

@Elz630 Why should he be ashamed of himself? His whole job as a news reporter/journalist is to create an unbiased piece of work so that people can decide for themselves what to believe in, and its impossible to do that with a huge slogan in the background telling otherwise. Personally I don't agree with the war either, cant see why we are still there, but if I was in the same position as Nick Robinson I would probably do the same as he did.
@BraceletAccumulatrT2 Unbias? you call that unbiased? It's important for protestors to get noticed and get coverage or we won't make any progress. WMD..Mobile Weapons Labs...Dr. Keylly's "death" (cough, cough) and on and on and on and on; lies, lies, lies, lies. Mr. Robinson, is just one of the liars.
@AKATSUKIxRobbie - I'm just saying that the guy "on camera" is not only a moron, but a liar. And if someone has to do what the protestor has done, simply to get on air, because there is no other means by which for him to do so, because free access is not granted to the "common"...then good for him. Robinson has exposed himself for being both vain and politically conservative. He was the nearly man after Andrew Marr, gets his moment and has become increasingly bombastic and Coalition-Light ever since. One of the BBC grandees who signed against the strike. No surprises here then.
@denfrancos also the fact that most bankers played no part in teh fiasco and infact they contribute teh most to teh governments taxes and are the ones paying for the wars and the economy problems and david cameron shouldn't take shit for going to one of the best schools in britain becuase it shows he is intelligent and cultured as oppose to being a moron from some shit school
@DinaanBumm Don't be so blind: Cameron going to Eton was a result of his parents being able to fork out £30,000 a year in fees. Then there were the fees for his prep school. That shows he was privileged.
@boymizzou yes and whats wrong with that its not his fault his family is rich and its not his fault that he was sent to very good although exclusive school and whats wrong with being privilleged if you had the money to send a child to a very good school giving them the best possible education you would do it.
@denfrancos see here i disagree with you dad who pays more than half is salary to teh governmetn in taxes, is an upstanding moral person, works in the city, went to eaton, he earns a fair bit of cash not millions in bonus' but works for a company and is mid level in a small team. He is not a wanker banker neither are his friends in the banking sector which IS THE ONLY THING MAKING THIS COUNTRY ANY MONEY. so before you started calling out all bankers for a minorities mistakes dont cont...
You could have put the rest of the conversation on so that we could have all revelled in the joy of watching an illiterate twat getting comprehensively verbally schooled by someone who has more intelligence in his glasses than you have in your entire body.
@denfrancos How has Robinson violated the protester's freedom of speech? It's only a violation when people are forced not to express their views; all Robinson did was smash a piece of cardboard, he didn't silence the protester.
A lot of people who watch the news regularly on the BBC want to hear the story, and not someone waving a banner in the background, bothering people who want to see the news, and the reporters themselves. Also, how did Robinson 'lose it'? That all seemed rather civil.
Nick Robinson is great.. personally id have battered the persons head with it if he'd been so ill-mannered and shoved a sign up whilst i was working.. No amount of protest is going to stop these necessary cuts, so give it break..
Give Nick a promotion for having the balls to actually do something about the idiots!
Would it be okay if he smashed up a car parked behind him with a crowbar because it was covered in anti war stickers? This is criminal damage, you can't just take people's property and smash it up.
@denfrancos thats moronic has it occurred that he asked the person to move it. what about last year when there were mass protests in teh city of london and protesters destroyed a bank how much do you think that cost everybody.
I'm glad the illiterate creator of this video posted this. There's a time and a place for everything and this was not the right time. You think that just because a worthy cause may not be being addressed by the powers that be then you have the right to canvas it wherever you please. Sorry mate, you can't. Thumbs up if you would have done the same as Nick.

Fucking bald bbc cunt, grab my sign and i'll knock your fucking establishment head off
do reports in public places and accept people will interupt and protest, smashing peoples signs and infringing their legitimate democratic right to protest is the act of an utter cunt
@prospekttt I really, really hope you ignorant twats watched Dispatches today. Besides that Nick Robinson was in a public space and what he did constitutes criminal damage, it doesn't mtter whether he was "trying to do his job" or not. If I tried to sell fruit from a market stall, and someone was talking loudly on their phone in front of me it would still be criminal damage if I grabbed it and smashed it for christs sake...
@graemeoliver84 Doesn't mean it isn't still someone's property. Should've charged him for theft as well, gotten him an ASBO. Doesn't matter if it's a television broadcast or not, if it's in a publlic space those people have the right to be there, and he does not have the right to do that.
Nick Robinson cares about the war, he just didn't want the incredibly disrupting and obstructive campaigner behind him, while he was giving a report on a very important issue.
@MikeFromTheUK1 Have every right to protest the war? You don't just go and mess up someone's country and then just leave you idiot. The military has to finish their job there, or they would have only worsen the situation. The war is against insurgents, and the people there needs foreign help to fight them off, how fucking selfish can you get, worrying about how much benefits you get when you already get alot when compared to others, while people in Iraq worry about their lives.
@TheBarryviper I don't know if the war was started for the right or wrong reasons. But because that has already happened and you can't change it, you can't just drop everything and leave. What the fuck are the people there with their lives ruined by the war going to do after the armies are gone? Get it in your head, what's done cannot be undone, now they are trying to salvage it, and to tell them to pull out and worsen the situation as compared to under Saddam? That's fucking selfish.
Prick, maybe he and anyone else should rewind the clock to 9/11, 7/7, The Mumbai Gun Attack, The Trade Centre Bombing, the Bombing of the British Embassy in Turkey, the suicide attack on the USS Cole, the Mali Bombings, the hate campaign led by Islam4UK, the failed Atlantic Bombings.....
That's what we are fighting for- to protect our citizens from those things ever happening again.
I actually start basic training for the army in April, I know what I'm getting my
Nick Robinson reports the news, and is surely giving these protesters what they want, air time.. so whether the war is right or wrong, he's surely got no reason to be ashamed!
@MikeFromTheUK1 "Cuts are ridiculous"? Do you know the amount of welfare British citizens get as compared to citizens of other countries? Some people might be jealous, while others call the British government STUPID for providing everything for its people, and doing so will only result in the people depending on the government for everything, which is the situation right now, British people whining and protesting all day long over cuts.
@MikeFromTheUK1 He is a god damn news reporter, how does his job relate to the Nazi for goodness sake? If you are gonna criticse what I said, at least make it relevant.
REAL Free energy technology exists! But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,Get a motor that needs no gas or electric input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Free yourself!
What a load of crap not only did he not lose it he just took away the sign you tried to highjack his newscast with and here you are stool trying to use his name because it is known to further your own cause. No matter how good your cause is you won't advance it by being a con artist which you clearly are. You should be ashamed of yourself. To coin a phrase
Ha Ha brilliant, "you should be ashamed of yourself mate!" i can only imagine this man as a scruffy looking fellow with dreadlocks and a half degree in psychology because he couldnt afford to keep up his student loan bill because he was putting it to the man too much lol
I love the way people say he's against free speech for doing this, yet the video cuts off in such a convenient place as to not show the reply he gives to the, what sounds to be, complete thug. Maybe the original video creator was embarrassed about the lack of intellectual content that "you should be ashamed of yourself" had in terms of creating a debate.
@TheHatra Also, all televised journalism is strictly regulated, not just the BBC, in order to keep impartiality as high as possible. So for those saying those protestors were expressing the right free speech, they were actually breaking these regulations, and so technically breaking the law, as there was no opposite opinion in order to balance this out.
he isn't denying the guy the right to hold up the sign he's just pissed off that the guy is waving it behind his head. I'm not sure where you live but the government in my country is pretty good as far as democracy is concerned. We don't have a dictator and all the mp's are elected in fairly. sounds democratic to me.
@mexicanchiliman It's actually the illusion of a Democracy hidden within a Corporatocracy (possibly hidden within a Plutocracy).. but hey ho it "sounds" democratic so that'll have to do, won't it. Don't question it. Obey your masters, they know best.
He did the right thing, just doing his job and some idiot behind him has to interrupt it with a stupid sign? And for goodness sake, all the people in this 'peace strike' only care about themselves. Do you know the situation there? You don't just mess up someone's country and just leave like that, if the troops do leave, what are they going to do? They will practically be slaves to the violence of the insurgencies with no plans at all to stabilise the country. Selfish bastards.
sorry my comments have got a bit muddled and out of order. on your last point, my local liberal democrat mp is not one of 'that group' and he is up there in politics so he is at least one who doesn't apply to that generalisation. I'm sure there are many others.
@mexicanchiliman I'm not saying there aren't exceptions or good people who care about the nation in politics. It's just that if you don't say the right things at the right times, you aren't getting anything more than a walk-on part. Same goes for much of mainstream journalism. It hasn't always been like this, it comes and goes and power shifts around. But we've got it bad at the moment :(
Ok right so the protester argument appears to go. He took down the sign expressing his views that the war in Afghanistan is just and right and therefore nick robinson believes that the killing of civilians is alright.
The others think that the sign was getting in mr robinsons' face while he was trying to do a news report. Also the BBC remained impartial because this happened after he finished the report and he is exercising his rights to protest as were the people around him
Nick Robinson took the banner down because he knew it had effected his report. His report wasn't about peace and bringing troops home it was specifically about the deficit. The protester distracted attention away from this report. Because of this you don't know that Nick Robinson disagrees with the general topic of the protest. Personally I happen to agree with the argument, it does seem very logical.
@dub6358 Ok, let's use your rationale. If your child toiled over a cardboard sign for a project at school, and some thug took it and broke it, how would you feel? Would it be Criminal damage then, maybe?
You can't pick and choose law. It's either there or it's not. You either live in a democracy or you don't. There's either free speech or there's not. What do you want?
Looked like Nick Robinson is responsible for Criminal Damage there. I hope he's being prosecuted. Has anyone let his employer know about this? They *should* take a very dim view on a seemingly respected member of their staff behaving like this.
Good lad Nick, bloody chavs, get a job instead

@denfrancos How has Robinson violated the protester's freedom of speech? It's only a violation when people are forced not to express their views; all Robinson did was smash a piece of cardboard, he didn't silence the protester.
A lot of people who watch the news regularly on the BBC want to hear the story, and not someone waving a banner in the background, bothering people who want to see the news, and the reporters themselves. Also, how did Robinson 'lose it'? That all seemed rather civil.

The military has to finish their job there, or they would have only worsen the situation.
TheHatra 1 year ago
@TheHatra Also, all televised journalism is strictly regulated, not just the BBC, in order to keep impartiality as high as possible. So for those saying those protestors were expressing the right free speech, they were actually breaking these regulations, and so technically breaking the law, as there was no opposite opinion in order to balance this out.
TheHatra 1 year ago
@TheHolySpirit
he isn't denying the guy the right to hold up the sign he's just pissed off that the guy is waving it behind his head. I'm not sure where you live but the government in my country is pretty good as far as democracy is concerned. We don't have a dictator and all the mp's are elected in fairly. sounds democratic to me.
mexicanchiliman 1 year ago
@mexicanchiliman It's actually the illusion of a Democracy hidden within a Corporatocracy (possibly hidden within a Plutocracy).. but hey ho it "sounds" democratic so that'll have to do, won't it. Don't question it. Obey your masters, they know best.
TheHolySpirit 1 year ago
He did the right thing, just doing his job and some idiot behind him has to interrupt it with a stupid sign? And for goodness sake, all the people in this 'peace strike' only care about themselves. Do you know the situation there? You don't just mess up someone's country and just leave like that, if the troops do leave, what are they going to do? They will practically be slaves to the violence of the insurgencies with no plans at all to stabilise the country. Selfish bastards.
DoraTheDino 1 year ago

sorry my comments have got a bit muddled and out of order. on your last point, my local liberal democrat mp is not one of 'that group' and he is up there in politics so he is at least one who doesn't apply to that generalisation. I'm sure there are many others.
mexicanchiliman 1 year ago

Also the BBC remained impartial because this happened after he finished the report and he is exercising his rights to protest as were the people around him
DinaanBumm 1 year ago
