A high quality airsoft rifle will function reliably for years with normal maintenance. The reason why many airsoft guns are unreliable is because many airsofters, like myself, like to upgrade and tune their guns for higher performance.
Both activities are fun, i'm all airsoft but i have nothing against paintball, it looks pretty fun actually.
I play both, and I'd have to say Airsoft is more realistic, you don't have some big hopper in your Line of sight. Airsoft > Paintball. Both are fun though.
If you acualy play profesional airsoft you find out you can remove the orange tip and it hurts just as bad this was a poor comparison i would have worn a helmet camera playing either of them and let you decide which looked more fun
Your cons are wrong on airsoft, they have orange tips but if you go and buy ACTUAL airsoft guns from ACTUAL companys their really durable and can live longer than you if you treat them right. But, in my eyes airsoft is for looking cool and simulation and paintball is for like who can take more pain. I play both but I like airsoft more for the gear factor. I would not go play paintball in my airsoft gear ie. it's just way to much money. I think the game type is what your budget is going on.

i just bought a tar-21 from my local store, export laws prevent handguns from being all metal up here in canada, and so long as they ship with the orange tip, they are allowed into the country, most companies however that ship to canada provide both the orange plastic tip and the black metal tip.
and i dont see how paintball is "more sportsmanship." thats all up to the players dude,
and how about instead of "some fast shooting guns" you add in "has magazine sizes that vary up to 200+ rounds"

Airsoft is very durable. I have a high strength polymer body on my M4 Carbine and I was running full speed one handing it, an hit it on a tree theres not even a scratch. And since my friend wanted me to play paintball (I have a tendency to one hand things)I did the exact same thing with his like valken or something and the barrel just snapped off even the bulg on top of the gun snaped off. I was like wtf is this cheap ass metal.

my vote is paintball, uses less CO2 and/or air cool colors, no orange tip on the barrel, and cool designs for speedball and fair game when paint splats on the person you shot so there is evidence they are out :) thumbs up if you agree
you cant really compare the two. paintball has the adrenaline rush that you dont get from airsoft and airsoft games are less intense but more realistic in the sense of range and guns. more realistic though not just as realistic

@72corrvette1 Spraypainting is bad for the gun if you don't plug the barrel correctly. It's a good idea to sand the orange paint off, prime it, then paint over it using a brush. Or just buy a new flash hider :P Many actual firearms are being made out of polymer/composite plastics since they are lighter and very durable. Paintball guns are literally a nozzle, barrel, pnuematic release valve, and hopper, making them very simple and in many cases, over priced. *these videos are troll magnets* :P

Alot of them are full metal, for example, alot of the G36's are made from Polymer, which is the same material that the real gun is constructed of. There are actually more full metal airsoft guns than plastic ones. At airsoft, we actually enjoy the realism of realistic looking and functioning guns. Paintball guns just dont do anything for me, they are not like real weapons and don't have much realism.
@PaintballLegion158 Besides, airsoft guns don't need a big cumbersome air tank, they have are 1:1 Scale to the real guns and all external functions are the same as the real gun. Besides, our guns are more accurate and have alot more range, I've played paintball and airsoft so I have the right to compare. Like I said previously, at airsoft we like realistic scenario's and despite what alot of you paintballers think, there is actually alot of strategy and real military tactics involved.

I dont know what airsoft guns your on about, but mine are good quality and can hit people at distance no problem at all, paintballs drop alot and it just annoys me. I'm basing my opinion off of my paintball experience, I said what I said because paintball in the UK is not as versatile as it may be in the U.S. In the UK, airsoft is far better than paintball. Besides, why should we all bash eachother anyway?
@PaintballLegion158 Paintball has been quite repetitive in my experience and there is little strategy involed. There are many more airsoft sites than paintball in the UK and I've played at two different paintball sites. Both were pretty much the same, we are in an arena so small that we can see the enemy team when we start, basically run in and shoot each other. I like airsoft because its more realistic, we have a huge forest to play on. I like realism, in paintball I dont get realism.

@PaintballLegion158 never heard of a gas blow back? fair enough they dont make a big bang like the real thing but the mechanisms are quite similar so a gas blow back M14 sounds quite similar to an m14 with subsonic ammo, also aeg's only make the "eeep" noise up close, you cant usually hear it from the targets point of view, just the ratata of the piston. as for paintball guns they just make a plop noise and the three rounds is cause it was gravity fed which is nowehere near as good as spring fed

You can remove/paint over orange tips. 80% of all airsoft guns are metal. They are more reliable because some are spring, and therefore, can be used until you run out of ammo.
If people really want to make the comparison, then look at it this way: The U.S often trains it's new recruits with paintball guns, not gay-ass little plastic BB guns.
When I joined the Marines, I was shipped to Paris Island. We were trained with paintball guns to learn the basic perils of small houses in the Middle East, checking corners, etc. It pisses me off how many kids think they know shit about guns because of video games and these plastic toys. It's sad, really.
Airsoft actually has ALOT more to offer in the facter of durability, cutting down on orage tips but still inspectable from close range incase of mistakes cops, and are made of metal. Alot of the blow backs are metal, and have gas cartiges in each mag like reality. So yeah fix the cons.

Airsoft is way better. I got hit with a systema M16(airsoft) FPS:550 Range:140 Yards with out the bb dropping down at all. RESULTS: pierced my skin in the center of my skin.

you can paint over the orange tip.. the law states that airsoft guns must only have the orange tip when being shipped or moved. it can be removed if carried in a case and used in the open fields :D
PART 2 : if you play at a feild they charge 50$ or more for 2000 paintballs, then another 35$ just to play, i can buy 5000 quality bbs for 10$, you have to keep refilling the gay as air tanks every 2 games, with airsoft one battery that's hidden in the stock of a gun last all day, airsoft guns also shoot faster, farther and more accurate, plus you dress like your in the military so you look like your a badass haha

And the first 10 years are usually when the word is just bein spread around. So paintball has wayyy more years of development and popularity. Were as airsoft is still developing and guns are getting better VERY quickly and some of the best gun doctors are learning so much all the time with new and better ways of making the guns faster or stronger.

@72corrvette1 Spraypainting is bad for the gun if you don't plug the barrel correctly. It's a good idea to sand the orange paint off, prime it, then paint over it using a brush. Or just buy a new flash hider :P Many actual firearms are being made out of polymer/composite plastics since they are lighter and very durable. Paintball guns are literally a nozzle, barrel, pnuematic release valve, and hopper, making them very simple and in many cases, over priced. *these videos are troll magnets* :P

Alot of them are full metal, for example, alot of the G36's are made from Polymer, which is the same material that the real gun is constructed of. There are actually more full metal airsoft guns than plastic ones. At airsoft, we actually enjoy the realism of realistic looking and functioning guns. Paintball guns just dont do anything for me, they are not like real weapons and don't have much realism.

@PaintballLegion158 Besides, airsoft guns don't need a big cumbersome air tank, they have are 1:1 Scale to the real guns and all external functions are the same as the real gun. Besides, our guns are more accurate and have alot more range, I've played paintball and airsoft so I have the right to compare. Like I said previously, at airsoft we like realistic scenario's and despite what alot of you paintballers think, there is actually alot of strategy and real military tactics involved.

I dont know what airsoft guns your on about, but mine are good quality and can hit people at distance no problem at all, paintballs drop alot and it just annoys me. I'm basing my opinion off of my paintball experience, I said what I said because paintball in the UK is not as versatile as it may be in the U.S. In the UK, airsoft is far better than paintball. Besides, why should we all bash eachother anyway?

There are many more airsoft sites than paintball in the UK and I've played at two different paintball sites. Both were pretty much the same, we are in an arena so small that we can see the enemy team when we start, basically run in and shoot each other. I like airsoft because its more realistic, we have a huge forest to play on. I like realism, in paintball I dont get realism.

@PaintballLegion158 never heard of a gas blow back? fair enough they dont make a big bang like the real thing but the mechanisms are quite similar so a gas blow back M14 sounds quite similar to an m14 with subsonic ammo, also aeg's only make the "eeep" noise up close, you cant usually hear it from the targets point of view, just the ratata of the piston. as for paintball guns they just make a plop noise and the three rounds is cause it was gravity fed which is nowehere near as good as spring fed

If people really want to make the comparison, then look at it this way: The U.S often trains it's new recruits with paintball guns, not gay-ass little plastic BB guns.
When I joined the Marines, I was shipped to Paris Island. We were trained with paintball guns to learn the basic perils of small houses in the Middle East, checking corners, etc. It pisses me off how many kids think they know shit about guns because of video games and these plastic toys. It's sad, really.

Airsoft actually has ALOT more to offer in the facter of durability, cutting down on orage tips but still inspectable from close range incase of mistakes cops, and are made of metal. Alot of the blow backs are metal, and have gas cartiges in each mag like reality. So yeah fix the cons.

@StrykerKnights I have a G&G Combat Machine M4 AEG (without any internal upgrades). Feet Per Second (FPS): 362.7 and lower. Range: 160-180 feet. It made someone bleed from about 160 feet away no hopper. Systema's FPS is 330-410-550-600 u idiot. PART 2 : if you play at a feild they charge 50$ or more for 2000 paintballs, then another 35$ just to play, i can buy 5000 quality bbs for 10$, you have to keep refilling the gay as air tanks every 2 games, with airsoft one battery that's hidden in the stock of a gun last all day, airsoft guns also shoot faster, farther and more accurate, plus you dress like your in the military so you look like your a badass haha

LMFAO!! airsoft cons, orange tip?? thats why you buy a black one! not very durable?? i have a kwa m4 its durable as hell and mostly metal, alot of plastic ones?? dont buy them retard!! ahhaha airsoft doesnt have any cons, you play outdoors or inside breathing fresh air, with paintball most feilds smell like cow shit and theirs paint and cracked shells EVERYWHERE, the guns look gay not to mention the big tanks on the back of them, and big hoppers so you cant use sights, and gay jerseys

one more fact to consider : paintball around 50 ish years old.
Airsoft around 20ish years old.
And the first 10 years are usually when the word is just bein spread around. So paintball has wayyy more years of development and popularity. Were as airsoft is still developing and guns are getting better VERY quickly and some of the best gun doctors are learning so much all the time with new and better ways of making the guns faster or stronger.

@bullmeatt In the UK, airsoft is becoming more popular than paintball, alot of people have switched to airsoft and are enjoying it more.
